- Many locks with spool pins give you significant, unmistakable feedback in the form of counter-rotation and deep false sets. The Master 570 is a lock with spools that don't give you much feedback at all and the feedback you get from the lock is very subtle. This video shows how to understand the differences in feel and how to read the feedback to pick the lock anyways.
I'm more of a visual learner so that toy model is the first time I think I've actually understood what was happening with spools. And there are so many other tips and tricks in this video that aren't in anybody else's. This was a fantastically helpful video.
One of the best explanations I've heard on picking.
Thanks for this video...I have been trying to pick this lock for months and the lack of spring pressure was killing me. Watched your tutorial and picked under 2 minutes. Thanks so much.
Absolutely brilliant explanation of spool pins, I'll be watching this again and recommending it to other newbies like me 👍👍
Really interesting. Never really thought of some of those points, thanks 👍
Great video, never thought about how the spool could be almost fully set but just barley below the shear line. Thanks!
That video was definitely worth a subscription.
A very clear and concise explanation. many thanks
Thank you so much most helpful spool pin video on CZcams

I have been struggling with my Master No. 570 and while I still don't get it, this video perfectly explained how to feel the spool pins. Thank you for a detailed explanation and the visual aid is wonderful.
Thank you, I hope you get your lock open soon!
Thanks! That's where I am in my practice. Getting thrown off by the false set.
Nice video
I.. I uh. Just accidently raked mine open in like 3 seconds while trying to spp.... I had to set it down because it made me a little mad.
That was nice of you giving trainer tip nick that money man very nice☺
I've been a supporter of his for a long time. Not everyone has the same means to give so I try to do my part :-)
Anybody know which Brinks lock is that? Would love to purchase for practice! Thank you :)
What brinks is that? I have one that looks the same that I've been practicing on and I don't get a false set or anything
you clearly are a "COLLEGE" grade individual. needless to say im subscribed! im a "NOOB" i think thats what they call a beginner. infact i do not know if i have what it takes for the lock-sport my tools have not yet arrived.
Picking locks is a matter of practice. Lots of it. I started out very poorly. At first I got better slowly and then I felt like I plateaued quickly. With a lot of practice though I got past the plateau and improved significantly. I've probably plateaued again but I'm not picking for hours every day anymore and I'm already quite good so I'm currently content with where I'm at. In any case, you can do it too! :-)
Funny, everyone is different. I blow thru these locks like butter. Give me a Master Lock M1, M5 or ML 15 and I'll be there all night. They kick my ass.
I had no problem with this lock :/
