The friendship between Charles and Arthur is actually beautiful, Charles asking Arthur to leave to help after he wants to help the people of wapiti and then hugs him had feeling so many things. And the last time they ride out together before Arthur dies is sad but I’m glad it’s Charles who buried Arthur as I felt like he was the right man to do it
In terms of man power I think Arthur and Charles had that covered. Early on in the game I figured Arthur was the muscle doing the debt collections and what not.
I like that Uncle (of all people) openly calls Dutch out early on at camp for using everyone like chesspieces, acting like he's one of the pawns when he's really manipulating them like the King. There's that moment of tension when it looks like Dutch is going to flip out, then he laughs it off. That was some wonderful foreshadowing.
In the end, Dutch was a coward, too proud to admit that Micah played him, and when he finally realized Arthur was telling the truth he ran instead of helping him as he lay dying.
He was afraid and he knew that no matter what he did nothing could revert his situation. At that point he was already lost and even though that he returned just to kill mikah years later (probably) he hadnt changed. He had lost his mind and his morales had completely changed. Red Dead Redemption 1 shows it: when john fights against dutch he calls his wife a whore while in reality she really wasnt. She was just a thief. Only before he dies,he "wakes" up and warns john that they ll go after the next monster just to justify their wages. And who was the last monster? John Marston
@@user-ry3no8mc6z well when he said they'll find another monster he meant it about John AND just someone in general. After John the US went to war a few years after
lmao fuck dutch and fuck his timing for realizations. The moment your so called 'leader' starts to lose it and manipulate everyone in the cult- y'all gotta have some brain of yours working in the first place to realize this motherfuka gone mad and if he keeps this up - we as a gang will NOT stand. Its a shame eveyone including arthur until the end was licking dutch's boots tryna convince that mfer to change his snake mind about the rat lmao. what a joke. I hoped arthur would have some sense and put a bullet in dutch's head the moment he left him at the factory plus stand up against him while he was chanting the 'insist' dialogue of arthur in his face like a child standing upto their toxic father. What a goddamn fool circus this was. but i understand - rdr1 is the sequel so it all was bound to happen. A shame
and it took dutch the death of his best man who he knew for 20 years to BELIEVE that arthur is not the threat here?? What a bastard his mother brought into the world
“You’re my brother…” from John was their own way of saying “I love you”. They didn’t show it in traditional ways, but they obviously cared a great deal for one another.
I love there relationship, arthur starting off resenting John for leaving to slowly learing to forgive him and finally sacrificing himself to save him and his family was just beautiful.
If only Hosea, Lenny, Sadie and Charles were here, they would have stand with Arthur and John, and maybe Micah wouldn’t have the balls to shoot Susan. R.I.P Miss Grimshaw
30:04 | You can see Javier on the left aiming his gun up into the sky rather than aiming it at Arthur or John. He didn't want to hurt his brothers, but he couldn't leave Dutch's side because he felt as if he owed him his life for bringing him into the gang...RIP Javier one of my favorite characters
He was actually supposed to aim at Arthur but the actor who played Javier didn't want that (because he didn't believe Javier would betray Arthur) so he aimed his gun upwards
Many people miss the fact that Dutch was asking who is betraying HIM, in other words: who wants to take his side. He doesn’t care who is true to the gang anymore. Only who is true to him and him only. John coming back injured adds weight to Arthur’s words so Dutch knows that gang loyalty is out the window. Micah knows this too so he shot Susan knowing that she, being the most loyal to the gang will most likely take Arthur’s side. Dutch, after seeing that Micah is willing to kill the strongest woman and also one of the most loyal member for him, automatically trusts him more.
I just recently finished the game and I really like your analysis and the way you worded it. Really helps to make sense of such a tense and overwhelming situation
How about the time where Arthur was captured by the o'driscolls? When he returned to camp it didn’t seem like Dutch was in any hurry to go find him. Feel like he was ready to sacrifice Arthur already then.
broomerd ` yeah but if you stay out for too long Javier or another gang member will come looking for you. On top of all that, Arthur was watching the O’Driscoll meeting so it wouldn’t be a massive leap in logic to say that Arthur was captured.
Dutch was only like that a little bit before guarma. Dutch suffered a brain injury in a robbery that was a set up by Angelo Bronte. Which was during mid-late chapter 4
Dutch: We Need More *MONEY*, Like A Few More Cents Arthur: Well Then Lets Go Rob Some Fellers Dutch: NOOOO! We Need To Rob A Train Arthur: But You Said A Few More Ce-- Dutch: TRAIN!
i love how Dutch literally leaves Arthur to die as if he means nothing to him and then when Arthur is actually dying and hes hearing his last words he actually seems hurt because he knows that a man thats about to die doesnt lie, Arthur tells him fully honestly that he gave him everything and Dutch is hurt because he realizes he really means it, that he never really tried to betray him and he cant help but be hurt by it despite his previous apparent obliviousness to Arthur living or dying
honestly losing my horse was one of the most devastating things in this entire game to me. i had chosen that horse on the very first mission when i went straight to the stable on my first play through. that was the only character in the entire game that i had really felt like i had bonded with, way more than any of the gang members even. having him die like that hurt and having arthur take a few moments to say good bye after everything that we had gone through meant the world to me. R.I.P. Sleipnir. you will never be forgotten
bro same i remember getting that black thoroughbred and always saying he was shit because i would always crash with him and when he finally died i was genuinely upset
bro same i remember getting that black thoroughbred and always saying he was shit because i would always crash with him and when he finally died i was genuinely upset
My first horse that died in my first play through was the big black Shire from the beginning, when that horse died I broke down crying because it just broke my heart Arthur careing so dear for this horse that has carried him and stayed with him through everything. The bond between Arthur and his horse, and John was precious. I will always live this story in this game even if it breaks my heart everytime. Sometimes the best stories make you cry because that means you connected with it.
Dutch was already a monster after that Blackwater incident, he kept hiding the truth from hosea, lenny, arthur, Charles, John and the rest of the gang!!!! He was only using those people for his advantage to get what he wanted!!! He never gave a fuck about Hosea, arthur, Charles, John, lenny, and the rest of those people!!! After John told Dutch that he left him to die at the train robbery scene, that's when Dutch showed his true colors and he, Bill, javier, and Micah went insane!! When John told Dutch that he left him to die, he went crazy!!!
@@trentonallen6965 i never thought about this, youre completely right! Dutch still cared in the beginning because they were his only Crew, but after they got replaced by micah and his boys he didnt give a fuck about the old gang

Still the greatest game I’ve ever played. When Arthur passed on that hill, I sat... put the controller down... lowered my head... as if I had experienced an actual loss. Never had anything like that effect me in a game.... until this gem. 👍🏻👍🏻
Arthur's death was sad, but damn did I absolutely sob at my horse dying. I had Black Pearl for over 60 hours and I felt her death like a punch in the gut.
The chief pleading his son not to fight nearly killed me. I choked when he said,"Please...?" 😢 Another scene that almost got me was when Dutch LIED to Arthur about John not making it, and the anger Arthur felt after hearing the news. Dutch could've went back for him, but again left him to die, like he did Arthur. 😠😡👿
very true from Arthurs face u could tell he didn't fully believe it he just most likely didn't want to or didn't know how to confront dutch at that time and also party did probably think it was true considering he's trusted dutch since he was a kid
this isn't the only time Dutch left John to die. Dutch had the chance to save John from getting jailed but he turned heel and walked away. John knows this well, but nobody else saw it so it makes only two of them. John also knows Dutch well enough to not trust him since Blackwater
Those lines hit harder when you play this mission before seeing Mrs. Downed in Annesburg. "Don't get yourself killed for pride! I've seen it kill too many folk" was what Arthur realized after that mess
You know, I actually liked Dutch and seemed like an actual good leader. But after Hosea died my anger for Dutch grew and made me replay RDR1 just to kill him
If you watch carefully Dutch changed after the trolley station robbery where in the trolley derailment he gets a pretty bad blow to the head. If you pay attention to what he tells Arthur after it's clear that he had some bad head trauma from the crash... The way he acts and thinks form that point on is different and darker.
@@domthasbigmuscles I don't think getting auther killed then killing Micah only is a redemption especially after he was with him for a while and it took John shouting at him to do it
That last embrace between Charles and Arthur brought a tear to my eye 😥 Charles must have known that was likely the last time he would see Arthur alive.
I love when Arthur says “I’m better off alone” and Charles was so firm with “we’re riding with you.” Charles really had respect for Arthur and knew he had true intentions on helping and wasn’t just there to play them like Dutch was. Also I think the moment Arthur said he “insist” on letting John go with his family was the moment Dutch decided to leave him behind. He knew John and Arthur must’ve been talking about leaving and he can’t stand the fact people wanted to save their own lives and not just wait on him to come up with a “plan”. When John says “you left me Dutch” he really sounds like someone who was betrayed by a parent or clearly someone they looked up to. I just wish Arthur mentioned to butch more that Micah has only been around for a few months while the rest of the gang Dutch seems to not care about anymore has been with them for years and have been loyal. Every time micah says something I just think “why doesn’t anyone tell him he doesn’t know how it’s been or what he’s talking about”
Dutch knows Arthur is dying, & chose to leave him instead putting his life in danger, look just what happened to eagle flies, he was too yung to die! Dutch is smartest person in the game! But he saved john in epilogue which shows he respected Arthur
@@zidhanoctora9569 Pretty sure the concussion had a lot to do with it, too. Concussions, if they're bad, can fuck you up. Plus they pointed it out too hard for it to not have contributed to his paranoia. Micah definitely manipulated him a little bit, too, besides being a mole.
When Dutch left Arthur and John to die - both on separate missions… I don’t think I’ve ever felt so angry at a character that I liked so much at the start of the game. Like my face got hot and I cried but it was solid, wet anger. Nothing apart from my own experiences have made me feel like that before. They did this game so well - wish I could experience it all over again for the first time
Which is why I think after the train scene we the player should be able to choose look for John or ride on. And Tilly, Jack and Sadie end up finding them because Dutch say "john died and dumb Arthur is looking for his body or something. Sadie wouldn't go with Arthur because he would say before running to find John " make sure Abigail and Jack are okay, I'm gonna find John." He would know to look because Dutch already left him to die why wouldn't he leave John to die especially after the conversation they had at camp before doing the mission.
Watching Arthur slowly descend into terminal illness but still fighting so hard for his people breaks me so much, man. Arthur Morgan is such, such, such an amazing protagonist...
Micah was part of the reason for dutchs craziness but i truley do believe that when dutch banged his head from that trolly job with lenny and arthur i think thats what really made him go crazy🤔
I just realized that Dutch really really hated getting ordered or controlled. In all of Arthur's decisions and orders, Dutch always took longer to respond. And Dutch ditched Arthur at the factory was icing on the cake. From that moment, he no longer saw Arthur as the second hand man, kinda like an enemy in the making. Then he remembered John who kept challenging Dutch's decisions early on and saw him the same as Arthur. Rockstar with the damn good writing
been a while since I played as Arthur but WOW that scene where Dutch leaves Arthur there.. so so COLD! Only thing liked about Dutch was his wardrobe and jewelry. lol
Realise how in the office room looking for the state bond, dutch ends the conversation with "Mr. Morgan" instead of "son". Idk if thay has any meaning, but him referring Arthur with Mr Morgan instead of son which he did throughout the game was interesting.
You can tell that when Arthur was pretty much pleading with him to let the women and children leave that Dutch was listening and thinking to himself "Is he seriously telling me what he wants me to do...?" it's like he's really offended by Arthur and he's trying to hide it.
The thing is, Arthur _was_ going against Dutch. Rightfully so, but still. This gang isn't against independent action. But Arthur's and Dutch's interests are increasingly at odds with each other. They no longer align. Arthur wants to help avoid bloodshed. Dutch just wants to use Eagle Flies for glory and money. So it's not about hating being ordered around. It's that they're both breaking away from each other, and splitting the gang along with that break.
ong I love John but it kinda pissed me off the whole time he was like "ARTHUR... ARTHUR C'MON" and I'm sitting on my bed like " bro stfu the horse is dying "
@@xakfr John doesn't truly understand loss like Arthur ig. Because in RDR1 you never get to name your horse, but in RDR2, you get to name it, clean it, make it stronger. Essentially the same horse you had since the beginning of the game, Arthur could have bonded with.
@@redthewifeyhunter4034in 2 I care if I accidentally kill an enemy’s horse. I think in total I killed 3 accidentally. In 1 because of how shit the controller controls are, I gave up and killed almost every horse with the Gatling gun sections (I didn’t kill horses on the regular gunfights though)
I think it was when you get the debt for struass from Dowens The one who was sick then died he spits in your mouth and I think that’s what gets you coughing
I loved how Sadie and Charles stuck by Arthur no matter what. When they started the battle to the end. "You saved my life many times... to give mine for you, is as it should be." Really hit deep.
It’s like Arthur knew something was gonna happen. The way he goes as if yo grab the gun but hesitates and hears reinforcements coming and starts looking around until John tells him to snap out of it. Maybe if John didn’t say anything and Arthur looked around a while longer he could’ve prevented John from being shot off and left behind to begin with
God this game….. is just pure perfection. And they had the absolute best cast of VA’s! At the end when Dutch can only say “I…” you could genuinely hear the heart break in the Actor’s voice. I noticed that in my first playthrough, and watched the Cast at a Con. Ben was talking about filming that. And said when he walked away and up onto a platform he actually started sobbing. As did a lot of the cast! Even while just doing the motion capture, didn’t see any of the finished product. Just playing it out, it tore hearts amongst the cast. I’ve never experienced anything like this game. And it still hurts as I start my 5th playthrough. First on PC. ❤️
I love when a game makes me cry. It was the same with John. I grew to like John SO much in the first game, and then it was just... over... I didn't pick up that controller until 2 weeks later
0:38 You can clearly see that Dutch is slowly trying to manipulate Eagle Fly, just like Micah manipulated him. But then his father shows up and tries to protect his son from his pride, just like Hosea saved Dutch from Micah. Dutch became weak after Hosea died
Jesus, that's an amazing catch right there. Thank you for that, definitely something I should've catched. Also, Dino Rex, very true, Hosea was a father figure to Dutch.
Space Pope I think they were the same, both very wise and morally good people. Well Dutch al least was, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t the loss of hosea, I think it was that hit in the head he had in that one heist with Lenny that gave him brain damage, because from there on he became someone else
@@dinorex3464 No this would've still happened Dutch was losing his mind when Hosea was alive in chapter 4 when he came after Angelo Bronte for revenge he lost it there and Arthur sided with him. If Hosea was alive Dutch would've ditched Hosea to die like he did to Arthur because he wanted blind loyalty in the end especially after chapter 5 and all Hosea and Arthur do is doubt but at least Hosea was more useful
When he said "I gave you all I had" with no music, just Arthur clinging onto his last breaths. It breaks me everytime. Even after finishing the game for the 7th time or so
Micah just came right on time when Dutch slowly became crazy. I mean I sort of understand when you trying to protect and fed 20 mouths and they kept pushing you asking when they can finally escape while chased by the police everywhere you go. Then Micah's showed up and manipulate him and when Hosea his best advisor died, he's done.
Micah was so deep in dutches ass, he knows the way around. Mfer was bootlicker nothing more or less. He couldn't get dutchs trust with his actions alone, so he said what he wanted to hear, when he wanted it to hear.
That line "I gave you all i had.. I did" That didn't just affect the players but you could tell it hit Dutch. I like to think in that one moment he realized all he did was wrong.
Arthur saying "Thank you." to his dying horse is so heartbreaking... you can hear how sad he is in his voice and it just makes me think about all the rides they had.
First time playing I had my Stolen Belgian Draft since Chapter 2 all the way till the end, I have 2 better horses but it don't feel the same when I'm riding my beloved Despot.
I think hearing Rains Fall's speech was the second most sad moment for me in the game. You can hear the genuine despair and sadness in his voice. Especially when he says "Stop. Please..."
Honestly it's such an underrated speech. A lot of fan compilations of 'best moments' miss out on a lot of Eagle Flies and Rains Fall. The connections between Eagle Flies and Arthur, along with Rains Fall and Dutch are so good. Eagle Flies is very similar to the person Arthur was at the beginning of the game, and maybe the path he could have gone down. They are both honourable and passionate about their families and beliefs but Eagle Flies can't see how fruitless it is by the end. The same with Dutch and Rains Fall, I think that Rains Fall was the leader Dutch should have been. Whereas Rains Fall was willing to lie low at the end and leave, Dutch always wanted to show he was better than everyone and could never accept that he wasn't always the most important man in sight. I love Rains Fall's final speech to his son, it's so sad but so well written. Not to mention when Eagle Flies says 'You've saved my life.... More than Once... to give my life for yours... it's as it should be', i felt that was a line that Dutch always talked about following but never did. When it came down to the wire he would happily cast aside those who might hold him back. TL;DR both Eagle Flies and Rains Fall are underrated characters and some of their dialogue is amazing and needs to be talked about more
Rains Falls speech makes me sob. He and Arthur were paralleled, they were both watching their families, their only legacies, being torn apart my greed and paranoia. They were desperate ghosts from a war long lost, unable to stop the bloodshed. “My only boy, my precious boy.” His last son 😭💔
In Arthur’s final moments, dutches facial expressions just leave me blown away. This game is so phenomenal yet I don’t think I’ll ever get over the sadness this game made me feel
As soon as Dutch walked away from Arthur in that factory when he needed his help, it was obvious that the twatty Dutch we all knew from the first game was coming to life.
0:17 man when Arthur says this u just know he's keen to something bc he wasn't born yesterday. I love the voice acting and dialogue here it's very fitting.
He didn't want to die unnecessarily just like the ones who left and also the ones who died. Anybody not Dutch would know better. He was pretty flawed to begin with. Micah only pushed him further. He didn't really believe all that he envisioned, but he wanted to.
Puneeth Venkatrao j think he believed it in the beginning, but I think it was during that one bank robbery with Arthur Dutch and Lenny where he hit his head really hard, I think that gave him brain damage, because right after that was his downfall
Blendin McShake well I don’t want to get too deep into it because there is a lot, but you should really look up the theory on that, it might really change your perspective. Also you are partially right, the loss of hosea, the weight on his shoulders, and the brain injury are all factors in it him going crazy
@@bendover650 I would argue that Dutch was always that way, at Blackwater he straight up murdered a young woman for no reason, head injury and Micah just sped up his downfall.
X Demonic Ryu X I couldn’t agree with you more, its like a double edged sword. Like on one hand ur happy that Arthur became a good person, but that was only when he got tuberculosis. And then on the other hand, would he have become such a nice person if he’d never have got it. The good thing is tho, is that you get to see Sean in online, so hopefully we will be able to do a couple missions alongside Arthur.
@@SlyDerSHOTTA For me the experience was a bit different, throughout the game I pretty much played as a good honor Arthur who would only kill you if he has too, and progressively (even more when you get TB) did better acts. But Arthur already seemed to be questioning Dutch a lot before he knows he has TB, especially when you read Arthur's journal. So for me Arthur always seemed to be good deep down inside
I agree arthur is a really hero while micah and dutch are backstabbing coward i dont have rdr1 or a old console to play it but if im able ill dame sure play rdr1 and gladly kill Dutch thats bastard
Man Rainsfall begging Eagleflies not to fight has gotta be one of the saddest moments in the game. But at the same time, riding into the oil refinery is one of the most epic.
the depression level in this game is too realistic, start from the end chapter shady belle till beaver hollow, i even not enjoy playing as arthur anymore as he get TBC diagnose and affected to his appearance , what a marvelous game
I feel so bad for rains fall he has been through so much and no one listens to him but in the end he was right and he lost his last son because of pride dam poor man
The fact that this game shows how people change, for good or bad we grow and we sometimes see that those around us who we once held in high regard really aren’t who they seems to be. Sometimes we are blinded for years with that inner struggle of people we once looked at as friends or even family and hold on to things from the past hoping they stay the same but realize that they aren’t. This is what happens with Dutch and Arthur and John. I always saw it this way that when you have that realization that people you’ve known for years or even decades that have been life long friends sometimes grow apart. In this case it was more of a father figure that you lose. Idk I don’t think I was able to explain it all to well. I hope part of my message and feel came across. That’s just how I honestly felt after my first play though.
He’s fought the feds for long enough to know that they have the bigger stick. I wouldn’t want my son to charge into a hopeless battle. Even if they won what then? They’ll just send more reinforcements and attack even harder.
@@darklord220 Indians is just the commonplace term used for Native Americans (like myself) because of the Immigration from Britain to what was newfound America. When I saw Eagle Flies die, I cried a little bit knowing Rains Fall has nothing left to love. His natives, his sons, his wife, gone. Fuck the dude who shot him real hard with a branding iron up the ass.
lumivsmax 1 i think the horse's death only matters to the one who have had that horse through the whole game. Because if you keep letting your horse die the player wouldnt be as touched by the horse's death as someone who's had the same horse throughout the game.
Just want to say how happy I am to see that this game is held in such high regard to so many people. It was so well written and it's so much fun to even after 3 full playthroughs. It just doesn't get old or boring, ever. When it's not action packed dramedy, it's amazing depth and storyline... just an amazing game
Dutch's narcissism and paranoia was so obvious to see in these scenes. How he was bothered by the fact that Arthur did something on his own without consulting him, and how he dwells on Arthur "insisting" that they let Abigail and Jack go.
T D i agree but it pissed me off so much that he was angry because of it. Like how many times towards the end does he only consult with Micah and leave Arthur out? I know he’s the leader but he really did end up going crazy because his way and words were law
I think its funny cuz damn near whole game arthur is doing it and then at the end micah had so much control dutch was paranoid bout everything its so fucked up for him to turn on his own "son" like that

This story is so heart warming to know Aurther's death was for John's life. And it actually hurt me to see Dutch Van Der Linde, a father figure to Authur Morgan, just walk away like that, like he has no shame or no remorse for his actions or what he did ot his family. All for some random guy he found at a bar.
dutch was savin his own ass ... he knew micah was with pinkertons all along .. but he never admitted out of shame.. he thought he was gonna escape with micah and em with the money, be free while “handing” over john, arthur and the rest of the gang.. its fucking sad if u ask me
This is exactly how I felt I was so deeply hurt and betrayed that Dutch wouldn't just wake up and see what was happening and I felt even worse when Javier and Bill sided against me as well
Savage Onion you pretty much do tbh. You control his actions, good and bad. You learn about his friends, fellow gang members, and you see a shell of a man try to redeem himself by saving others. It’s just a testament to how good storytelling and character development can make you feel real emotions for something that is fictional. RDR 2 truly is a masterpiece.
I would just like to say, I'm really glad native american people and culture still exist, and we're not seeing these people as cool time capsules to oggle at.
I did know that Arthur will die, so i purchased him expensive clothes of Saint Denis so at least he will die whit style bruh (but i used my OG outfit in some missions of the last chapter)
18:44 Arthur looks like he’s truly giving up. Takes the money off his back (metaphor I think for having the weight of the world on his shoulders) to reflect for a moment. Whole reason for his existence after his diagnosis was to get John out. At that moment he believes it was all for nothing. Jeez.
It's worth pointing out that during the standoff at 29:55 Javier never points his gun at Arthur and John. Even though he's standing on Dutch's side, he knows something is wrong, and he's conflicted.
In first mission where you have to find john who's lost in snow you would see that arthur isn't in mood to save john but javier says that " john would do the same for us"

Step2: enjoy being arthurt
Cuba G you won’t have that much stuff or options to clothes or guns
@Chilllzyy exactly who needs money and clothes when you got Arthur.
@Chilllzyy that's why I have two saves
Cuba G literally just stay in horseshoe and never get Micah out of jail as your explore the open worlds and do everyone the game has to offer
Chilllzyy I was really disappointed when I learned John couldn’t swim in rdr2 as well
In the end, Dutch was a coward, too proud to admit that Micah played him, and when he finally realized Arthur was telling the truth he ran instead of helping him as he lay dying.
He realized he was the truly rat
Well Dutch did shoot micah and John got the shot on micah
He was afraid and he knew that no matter what he did nothing could revert his situation. At that point he was already lost and even though that he returned just to kill mikah years later (probably) he hadnt changed. He had lost his mind and his morales had completely changed. Red Dead Redemption 1 shows it: when john fights against dutch he calls his wife a whore while in reality she really wasnt. She was just a thief. Only before he dies,he "wakes" up and warns john that they ll go after the next monster just to justify their wages. And who was the last monster? John Marston

A shame

And Tilly, Jack and Sadie end up finding them because Dutch say "john died and dumb Arthur is looking for his body or something. Sadie wouldn't go with Arthur because he would say before running to find John " make sure Abigail and Jack are okay, I'm gonna find John."

Then he remembered John who kept challenging Dutch's decisions early on and saw him the same as Arthur.

been a while since I played as Arthur but WOW that scene where Dutch leaves Arthur there..

“The earth. The water... they have no pride. They endure. We must endure” - Rains Falls
Great lesson of life
Honestly it's such an underrated speech.

0:17 man when Arthur says this u just know he's keen to something bc he wasn't born yesterday. I love the voice acting and dialogue here it's very fitting.
I love how Charles knows exactly where he stands in the gang... always by Arthur's side.
Ben Dover nah Hosea was the last thing holding Dutch back from going insane, and once he died, Micah saw the opportunity to further manipulate him
Blendin McShake well I don’t want to get too deep into it because there is a lot, but you should really look up the theory on that, it might really change your perspective.
He did all this when he was sick damn the will power Arthur had to make things right damn, what a character. I’m gonna miss him.
Deputy Egg Yes I also do believe that he has always been a good person, he was just brainwashed for a while.
I agree arthur is a really hero while micah and dutch are backstabbing coward i dont have rdr1 or a old console to play it but if im able ill dame sure play rdr1 and gladly kill Dutch thats bastard
if i had the power to travel into a video game, i would immediately grab a shotgun, go into red dead 2, shoot the hell out of micha, and kill dutch
Man Rainsfall begging Eagleflies not to fight has gotta be one of the saddest moments in the game. But at the same time, riding into the oil refinery is one of the most epic.
The Last Ride of the Van Der Linde Gang
the depression level in this game is too realistic, start from the end chapter shady belle till beaver hollow, i even not enjoy playing as arthur anymore as he get TBC diagnose and affected to his appearance , what a marvelous game
I feel so bad for rains fall he has been through so much and no one listens to him but in the end he was right and he lost his last son because of pride dam poor man
Melinda Wilkie you can find as john and he seems depressed i felt so bad for him
Melinda Wilkie Not saying anything but Arthur had several health cures
Right? That hit hard. Even tho its a game.A bunch hit me hard and got me in my feelings My people suffered that way for years.
Jawad Zaman what do u mean
Barbarooah he means that when you play as john in the epilogue you can visit rain falls and talk to him and he is very depressed and still grieving
When Dutch says “He insists?!”, did anyone else get deja vu to when Bill says “You implore me?”
Bruh I was thinking the same thing
Me too from rdr1
Apparently, "insist" was a trigger word for Dutch.
Jason Dyrkacz it’s because it’s formal, and it is often used in the government.
I feel it also shows the pride of Dutch. As if he's saying he's still doubting his ability to protect his community or something
When Arthur has his cough attack, and falls down, I never noticed that the horse looks at him with concern. That's sad.
Really wanted Arthur to live
CraftyCal he’s an outlaw, it was better than being hung or shot like a dog (reference to red dead 1)
@@TJLikePiggy I know .just still wanted him to live
He was shot like a dog though. If you had bad honor and went with John Micah shoots Arthur in the face
As much as I would have wanted him too he doesn't show up in rd1 so it was kind of obvious he would die.
Same I like Arthur and wish he lived. When rdr2 multiplayer comes I hope you are able to customize your character so I can make him look like Arthur😢
The way the Native American Chief cries for his people to stop is always so sad to me.
Only comment that doesn't say indians ffs
He’s fought the feds for long enough to know that they have the bigger stick.
I wouldn’t want my son to charge into a hopeless battle.
Even if they won what then?
They’ll just send more reinforcements and attack even harder.
@@bobdole1826 they are Indians
@@darklord220 Indians is just the commonplace term used for Native Americans (like myself) because of the Immigration from Britain to what was newfound America. They met the Natives of the land and because of the skin tone and various tribes languages, they thought they were from the country India. And from then we were simply known as Indians.
When I saw Eagle Flies die, I cried a little bit knowing Rains Fall has nothing left to love. His natives, his sons, his wife, gone. Fuck the dude who shot him real hard with a branding iron up the ass.
I have never felt more empathy for someone like I have for rains fall. Such a tragic story. I could listen to him talk for hours
You can see that in 8:14 Arthurs voice gets a bit shaky and he almost cries which makes the cutscene even sadder

Really didnt care about eagle flies. All the native mission were broing tbh
2:12 i cried so much when i heard an old man with a realistic sad voice. I was thinking in my grandpa (rip).
Just want to say how happy I am to see that this game is held in such high regard to so many people. It was so well written and it's so much fun to even after 3 full playthroughs. It just doesn't get old or boring, ever. When it's not action packed dramedy, it's amazing depth and storyline... just an amazing game

@@imjustheresoiwontgetfined3890 he always has really, but they weren't as harsh up until he found out Arthur was very sick.
Indeed, part of the reason why he was the main enforcer of the gang.
