    Thanks for posting this video. My Cub Cadet was running perfect with no issues until I ran out of gas. I topped off with fresh ethanol free petrel but the mower would not start. I replaced spark plug but still would not start. After watching this video I decided to remove the carb which revealed gunk and I was able to clean it out using a wire brush. I did not have any carb cleaner or fancy cleaning unit as shown in the video but this was not really needed. Since some of the gunk had hardened I used a dremel tool to remove the rust spots. I also used my air compressor to blow out the carb and did used a thin wire to check if clogged. I reassembled and mower fired up on the first pull and ran without any sputtering. This video saved me from having to have it serviced and gave me the confidence to pull and disassemble the carb.

      Quick question . That wire that goes to the fly wheel is it suppose to be tight or really sloppy ? And if really sloppy do you need to replace that fin thing by the fly wheel it attaches too ? Hope that makes sense lol

    Yup. Not much different than other carbs I've had to clean but having this video ahead of time probably saved me 20 mins of moving things for the linkages. Thanks, sir.

    Thank you for this video. I have this particular push mower and it's doing exactly what this one did before you worked on it. SO I'll be doing the same thing you just did here. Again thank you for this video. Very much appreciated.

    Cub Cadet Lawnmower are good I have had mine for 8 years now. A few weeks ago mine stopped it would start then die so I went out to buy a new lawnmower wow no way. They sure have went up in price so I came back and tore into it. I took small engine repair in school I made the teacher mad because I took his test and made an A he made me re take the test and yes he watched me the test was a little different but I still made another A that pissed him off lol. I am now soon to be 68. The only reason I was willing to buy a new lawnmower was because I don't have a shop anymore. But it's still just as easy for me to repair them. Small engine and Auto work has always been my cup of tea😊

    QUESTION: I recently tilted my Cub Cadet mower on its side in order to use a garden tool to scrape out some grass that had built up inside the mower. The moment I tilted the mower on its side with the air filter pointing up, I heard "HISSS!!!... HISSSS!!!" It was as if a drop of something spilled and was becoming HOTT and flammable. After I was done cleaning out the interior of the mower, I waited 15 minutes for the oil to go back down. I then started the mower. There was a large cloud of grey smoke. This smoke got worse. It was obvious the mower was not going to run properly. I then grabbed the weed wacker and did that chore instead. This took about a half hour, which allowed the mower to sit there and become calm and settle down again. There was another cloud of grey smoke, but not as bad this time. The smoke then disappeared for several seconds. I then started to move the lawn mower. But then the grey smoke came back. it was obvious the mower wasn't going to work anymore. Do you know what happened? I have tilted the mower on its side in the past to clean it, but there were no problems like this.

      Most likely the head got filled with oil, this should go away, but I would check the old level to make sure it’s at proper levels

    • @michaelzoran
      @michaelzoran Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@MurphyMower I did check the oil level. A repair person had just recently checked the oil level a couple weeks ago and told me it was okay. The oil level was initially difficult to measure, because it was as if the oil was still running down from the top too much as a result of being on its side. The oil was also very black. But, after the oil had 45 minutes to sit still, it finally appeared to be within an acceptable area. The repair man even confirmed this Cub Cadet mower is difficult to measure the oil because the color of the oil stick is a darker color and does not clearly show the measurement area.

    • @MurphyMower
      @MurphyMower  Před 2 měsíci

      Sounds good, but you may want to recheck it as when it was tilted some of the oil may have gotten into the head and the white smoke you see is burning the oil off most likely so it’s just a good idea to double check the levels.

    Great video. Will be doing this tomorrow. Wire looks like 0.20 safety wire we use on aircraft systems. I don't have an ultrasonic cleaner but I have two cans of carb cleaner and a compressor.

    • @MurphyMower
      @MurphyMower  Před 3 měsíci

      That’s really all you need
      Ultrasonic cleaner comes in handy if it is very corroded

    I removed my jet, cleaned it, and put it back in - no dice. Apparently there is more passage after the jet, so the wire is a must.

    i pu tmine in the ultrasonic cleaner and mine still stalls out i had it in there for a good 45 minutes...but the middle jet im thinking is the clprit it wont come out i tried ot unscrew it but it'll only strip it..theres another jet below the center one or is soemtimes im guessing its plugged in there so i think i might just buy a new one theyre about 30 bucks and i get some spare parts wiht it for future fixes..

    • @MurphyMower

      They are pretty inexpensive to purchase
      But if you have a small wire, push it through that jet, and that might do it
