    Thank you so much! I didn't have a new carburetor, I wanted to take the one off and clean it and your video helped immensely!! I was so happy to hear it start up on 1 tug after I put everything back together. 68 year old woman, if I can do it anyone can!

    Great video. I have a ST 100 cub cadet string trimmer with the same engine as your mower. I needed to change the carb on it but I wanted to know what I was getting into before I started. Mine was exactly the same. Well, almost the same. There was a fair amount of crying and cursing with my repair. Thank you oh patient one!

    What self-control. I expressed a few expletives just exposing the works, couldn't get the linkages apart, came here and hope to use your expertise to progress. One suggestion is when unscrewing bolts with socket and extender, once tightness is alleviated, leave extender on and complete unscrewing holding extender instead of reaching down for bolt. Not a big deal but easier. Thanks.

    I bought this mower for 15 dollars to just have something to do. I've noticed a few things missing. 2 of the linkage pieces off the carburetor. The one that goes to that white plastic flap part and the other goes from that metal bracket behind the air filter housing across the front of the mower. Those 2 things and that metal bracket I don't have. I have some galvanized wire i might can rig up but is that bracket part essential? I see the little lever piece over where the spark plug goes. I figure the line runs from there to the bracket. Just trying to see if it's worth going any further or should I break it down for parts

    Have the same mower, bought brand new last year, used 2 times, ran out the gas so there was none in it. Pulled it out and it won't start. Plug looks good, put new gas in it, sprayed some starting fluid in the air filter, starts up fine, runs 30 seconds and off. Can't get it to stay on, any suggestions?

      I have this carburetor on my string mower. Had to take the carburetor apart and clean plugged jets, and carburetor bowl. One jet is located in a black plastic plug under the plastic idle screw. My next project is to install a fuel filter.

  • @jeffscomments1865
    @jeffscomments1865 Před 2 lety +1

    I changed the carb on my st-100 cub cadet 22 inch trimmer. Mine is a 159cc engine. Problem is, it is leaking fuel out through the throttle plate into the air filter housing. My guess is either the float is not shutting off fuel when the bowl is full or the carb is not tuned properly. There is 1 ea (air/fuel mixture screw). I did not touch it when I installed the carb. I question whether the setting is correct. Any carb adjustment wisdom?

    • @iamdefeath4475
      @iamdefeath4475  Před 2 lety

      Not much adjustment wisdom. I took it in once to have it worked on, then I replaced carb the next year (this video)...haven't had to adjust it since as long as I start it at least once a month during the off season.

    • @godsdozer
      @godsdozer Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@iamdefeath4475 once a month, whether in use or not, drain the water out of the carb bowl. Or, put a petcock valve on the fuel line so you can shut the fuel off after each use. Be sure once the petcock vavled is closed after each use, you run the mower until it burns the fuel in the carburetor so it is not left sitting in the cab rusting.

    I have a Cub Cadet SC300hw, bought, took it home and it ran 10 minutes. Took it back, gave me another. Took it home, ran 15 minutes and died. Took it back, and the tech told me to get my money back, I said NO, I wanted a cub. Got another, and it died after 15 minutes, I took it back and they told me no more returns, they were not carrying that one anymore. Called Cadet, talked to customer service and they hung up on me. $400 plus and a JUNK MOWER-guess I put it in the front yard as a flower pot, when people ask me whats up-I TELL THEM THE TRUTH.....BUY HONDA ONLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUY HONDA ONLY !!!

    • @cymbalmanable
      @cymbalmanable Před 2 lety

      You are quite correct. The SC100 Cub Cadet is a piece of junk. After three years (the warranty was out), it would not start. I had a new carb put in. When I brought the mower back home it would not start, even though the repair shop said it strarted right up. I put it back into my van and returned it. The guy pulled the cord and it started, but he said to leave it there and he would run it for awhile, let it sit overnight, and try again. It worked fine the following day so I brought it back. Again it didn't work at home, I was so disgusted that I was just going to buy another mower. Since there was no loss involved, I banged it back and forth on the front and back wheels and gave it another try. It started right up and ran well for one and half years until last Fall when I did part of my yard and was going to finish the following day. It never started after about a 12 hour sit. I used some starter fluid which caused it ro run about 5 seconds and despite additional banging it won't start. This season I bought a Honda. The SC100, now a discontinued model, is going into the trash. I don't think I'll spend the money for a new carb.

      @godsdozer Před 3 měsíci

      @@cymbalmanable #1. drain the water out of your carb bowl, if that doesn't work. #2 take carb bowl off and see if there is rust, if there is rust, buy a factory carb. It will run flawlessly until you get rust built back up from the ethanol fuel we use.
