Remember when phones with screens around the 5 inch ballpark were called "phablets" because they were too big? Pretty sure global hand size hasn't grown since in any significant way, yet here we are calling big phones small simply because there are bigger ones in comparison.
In fairness the addition of edge to edge displays means a lot of modern 6.3 inch phones are still a comparable form factor to those old phablets, but yeah those ultra phones are getting absurd
It's because back in the day, phones had standard 16:9 aspect ratio. Much bigger and thick screen border.... Just go and compare a galaxy note 1 with the regular galaxy s24, you'll understand what I'm saying.

Both phones have different focuses, S24 has better software quality, longevity, durability and camera in my opinion and the battery isn't bad where you seen that? S24 lasts a whole day. While, the xiaomi 14 is better at gaming, performance and hardware and is also cheaper.

Those cameras are far ahead compared to Samsung. Triple 50Mpx setup on the back, all capable of 4k60 with smooth switching, not even Samsung can do that and they also give you a single 50Mpx camera and they're all smaller sensor than the one in Xiaomi as well. Absolutely abysmal shutter speed on Samsung, have you ever tried to take a picture of a moving car, kid or an animal? Good luck with that on a Samsung. Same material construction, same IP68 and people still dare to say that other brands, that literally have the same build as this are more durable...

Infact i noticed some stutters here and there in one ui which were inexistant in the xiaomi phone! Xiaomi isn't far off at all from Samsung! I thought to myself that samsung is samsung no matter what but i was honestly surprised. I actually enjoyed using miui more. Even the cameras, i thought the processing was going to be a lot better on the samsung but I could see little to no difference at all except that the samsung's zoom lens is amazing

I've been using Xiaomi phones since Redmi Note 2. But the more I think about Xiaomi flagship with their price, the more I think I should just go for Galaxy S series for better value because I get to use Samsung Pay and Samsung Dex and camera photo and video quality are also very consistent. Guess my next phone will be Samsung then. Don't get me wrong. Xiaomi phone with HyperOS is really smooth and reliable. For Xiaomi lovers, this is definitely recommended.

Bcoz compact phone spec were made less compelling with similar price range, the industry have not innovate to improve other component , all the focus is on camera.. camera n camera.

I wouldn't say it's a compact phone. I own the Xiaomi 13, the size is just right, but not compact like Zenfone 11 or iPhone 13 Mini. Those are the real compacts.

I'd say the S23, especially if you're in Europe. If you're in Europe the SoC is better than the S24 and it's way cheaper as well. Not to mention it's close to the S24 in every other aspect as well, except the AI features which we'll be getting soon anyway. I've owned it for 8-9 months and it still feels as good as when I bought it, if not better.
I watched the launching event of Xiaomi 14 and 14 Ultra and yes indeed, it's the very close collaboration between Xiaomi & Leica which makes magic now and Xiaomi is at the top now, at least in photography 🏅📸🎖️
As an Android guy, why on Earth does Xiaomi make such nice phones and then *blatantly* rip off iOS in design. They make such a nice phone but it will never gain traction in the US due to the stigma of simply being an iPhone knockoff.

I saw this phone today and handled it a bit at local store. Plastic feels just horribly cheap. I wanted to buy it, but I am not so sure after feeling the materials....
