    Swapping the Factory Yamaha carburetor out for a VM24 style carb is one of the best Bang for the Buck modifications you can do on these bikes, it gives much better throttle response as well as much more top end flow for more power!

    Well, thanks to your video, I just got my new carb in the mail yesterday and installed it. My bike is a Suzuki DRZ125L and the carb it had was pathetic, just a puny little 20mm and it had that same diaphragm thing. I could tell the bike wanted to run, but the carb wouldn't let it. I couldn't find a 24mm that would fit my Suzuki, so I got the Mikuni 26mm instead. It was already jetted, so I just installed it and tried it out. Oh man what a difference. Started first kick, required a little adjustment of the fuel/air screw and idle, and it ran perfectly. Now the bike has some very good power.. It's amazing the difference a carb can make, this thing really rips now! I did remove the airbox snorkel too.

    • @JBAutomotive794
      @JBAutomotive794  Před 3 lety +3

      Government puts alot of regulations on emissions on motorcycle and off road vehicle manufacturers to keep smog numbers low and it usually makes for engines that are pathetically lean. An aftermarket carb like these will allow the carb to deliver much more fuel and allow the engine to make more power. (Dont tell the EPA)

    • @trevorjameson3213
      @trevorjameson3213 Před 3 lety

      @@boogiekush9391 I'm using a Mikuni 26mm carb. It fits the rubber boots no problem. Suzuki's come with Mikuni carbs, so I just bought a larger Mikuni for it. You could do the same and it will fit. A Keihin carb probably will not work. As far as the airbox, yes, you will have to remove the snorkel on top of the airbox, very easy to remove. You can use the stock exhaust too. I jetted the Mikuni 26mm with a 170 main jet and whatever pilot jet was already in it. Then adjust the fuel/air screw as needed for best running.

    What size jets work best? My VM24 came with 30 pilot and 120 main installed, and I have all the sizes above and below both, but can’t find the right combo. Mostly the problem is instant bogging and frequently stalling as soon as you crack the throttle.

    • @JBAutomotive794
      @JBAutomotive794  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Different bikes will like different jet combinations due to altitude and other mods such as exhaust and airbox configurations.
      The "clip height" is also an important adjustment with this style carb as well. It controls how "quickly" the main jet fueling comes on compared to the idle circuit. There is no accelerator pump on this carb, which 4 strokes like. You may have to jet on the rich side to compensate for this design if you want off idle snappyness

    Your video may help much more if you can provide ALL detail as:
    - what carb (EXACTLY ...genuine MIKUNI, clone, source....etc)
    - main jet,
    - pilot jet,
    - needle clip position
    - float position (mm)
    - needle number &
    - needle jet,
    - level above sea you are at ? ? ?

      When you buy a modified clone specifically for the TTR125, they will come with the correct pilot and main jets installed. Clip position will account for things like altitude and engine mods such as exhaust or airbox mods. It has 5 available positions if your bike requires it. The carb i installed in the video did not require that I mess with the clip position.

      I bought the colone carb and
      I plugged the vac port
      But above the cab there is another
      Outlet port that has vac and if its
      Plugged it kills the bike
      Otherwise it runs at atleast 2k rpms
      So that vm feebay colone
      Sucks in my case
      Also the intake side of the neck is
      Skinner and shorter so the carb does
      Not sit well
      Does not go enough inside
      Even after the clamp is maxed out
      So its a poor item from feebay
      Cheap though but junk
      I would not waste my money on
      Any copied vm carbs
      I will experiment with other
      Regular four stroke types

    How to setup vm24 bro? Pilot jet = #? And main jet =#? Thankss you!

      @trevorjameson3213 Před 4 lety +2

      I have the Suzuki DRZ125L but it’s basically the same bike as the TTR125, and you can jet the carb as follows: Main jet 105, 107.5, or 110 (depends on your setup and altitude). Pilot jet 20 or 22.5 (again depends on your altitude and if you have it stock or un-corked). My bike is stock so I run a 107.5 main and 20 pilot, works good.

      @@trevorjameson3213 thanks bro, my stock carb ( xtz 125) is Mikuni Bs25 - CV carb, VM24 vs Bs 25, which is better, about power and mileage?

    • @trevorjameson3213
      @trevorjameson3213 Před 3 lety +3

      @@rosebar536 The VM24 is a great carb, as far as power goes. The Mikuni CV carb will get better mileage for sure, since it's a CV carb. I know fuel mileage can be an issue, but the 125's still just sip gas even with a bigger carb. But, the VM24 will definitely give you more power than the CV carb. People keep wasting money on pipes and airbox mods, and cams. But they don't realize that a bigger carb will make a real difference in power, and you can keep your stock pipe and cam.

      @@trevorjameson3213 I have the same bike and have a keihin Pe 24 that I bought cause I read a thread saying you should put bigger carb for increased power , also have a fmf pipe on it and everything else is stock. My question is I couldn't get it to fit it's just a lil too big for for the rubber part to go around it, do you have any suggestions?

    picked up a 2006 TTR125 L with this carb. It ran like crap. PO had a hose connected to the port you suggested to cap off. So I plugged it. What a difference! Also noticed better throttle response. Now, just need to verify the air / fuel screw for that sweet spot. Seems pretty close though. Thanks for posting this vid!!!
