Ok, let's do this.
So after hours of testing, I've come to a conclusion as to why filter blocks will sometimes go through the system.
This system is not overflow-proof.
This means once you put a stack of items in the sorter hopper, it sends a stronger redstone signal than normal and therefore unlocks the other hoppers and sends filter items through the system.
A simple way to counteract this is to NOT put a stack of items into the hopper while configuring them. The reason it worked for 1upMC is because he only put 6 items, rather than a stack.
Also, if you fill all 5 double chests with items and and the hopper fills to 64 as well, the system will also break.

God bless you. You have no idea how many different ways I have tried to build this and had it fail repeatedly. It was because I was adding a stack and everything was filtering out. I have finally gotten one working. 🙏

I am sorry but I have correctly made the item filter and used a certain amount as filters so it would only leave one item in the hopper and it does not break. little tip it is with the Redstone is why it breaks. When the Redstone lines are connected together and the hopper overflows and backs up it makes the signal strength stronger and it leaches over to the hopper filter next to it which in turn drains it and breaks your filter's. I used 45 items plus the 1 Item needed to make the filter. I also gave myself space as you need a 1 Block gap in between your Redstone lines so they can not connect at all so my filter lines are separated.
If anyone had bothered to follow the Original creators instructions he did state to seperate the line's so the Redstone signal would not connect from one filter line to the other For Best Results.
So how do I fix this? Can it be fixed? Also, I use barrels not chest, less lag. Please help
If you stagger the chests and hoppers, you can ensure all the items go to the bottom chest no matter how full it gets. Get something from the bottom and it will fill back up from the top.

In order to do the system overflow proof u need to use only 4 filter blocks and 41 items to be sorted. this way it wont break. i used it in my guardian farm (produce over 40k item/h) and it works smooth. hope it help somebody

This can work as a waterless sorter. Set a fence post on a hopper then push a minecart with hopper into it. This will work in the nether and saved water constantly flowing in your world

How do you do this with only 1 chest for each item. Can you still have them stacked to make a compact storage system? I just wouldn’t want 4 chests for each item.

You should outline the build area so that way if someone's building this in an already made base they can tell if it's gonna fit. I'm making this fit no matter what because I'm in a bunker but if someone has an above ground base that would be a pain to reconstruct it all over again to fit the build and then make it all look nice afterwards.
im thinking of building a massive chest sorter for basically every item in the game. now i keep seeing that if you put in more than 41 items it overflows. is there anyway around this and would there be any issues doing this build on a large scale in bedrock 1.20 realm?
So I extend this out....slot and fir some reason only the first 12 sorters work. The redstone doesn't even show its powered on. Any ideas as to why
yes, this is what is needed. could you provide a list of items with icons for those items? so it is much better to orient people who do not know English at a sufficient level

This is great however my items for some reason get stuck and don't go all the way down until they despawn so i am constantly losing tons of items.
It can be a good idea to put the list of materials needed in the description so people who don't understand english can translate everything👍

Please can you add a shulker unloader into the design (one that unloads the shulker into the system then breaks it and stores it separately, I’ve seen it before but I can’t find a way to fit it in but you’re much better at designing haha
I just found a design from another person (don't remember who) and added a hopper line near the input chest to the unloader

I’ve noticed if I name cobble stone but also want to have cobblestone as a item I want sorted it breaks the system also I’ve noticed if u put too many things in the chest it all breaks and puts all the named item in the chests
Damn I really want one on my survival world but I'm on mobile so it'll take ages but once I get enough wood I'll probably try it out. I also recently made a storage system but its not redstone and doesn't sort items out 😭

When I put the filler items in the hopper they just went straight to the chest instead of staying in the hopper
Double check your redstone
The first row of hoppers where the water is shouldn’t be connected to chests.
I have this problem too, idk why but even when the hopper isn’t facing down, it still drop the item
@@CBFlims644redstone isn’t done properly then. the hopper should remain locked until it sees a 6th item of that type
How do you get the hopper to stop taking your stuff when you trying to make the sorter?
You can build this for auto sorting raids or something. Just don't build the tube part or make the items to into the chest.

I have built the only working item filter system that works with overflow and backed up hoppers so it does not drain your item filter's, Also with the one I have worked out it does not leave a stack in the hoppers unless the chests are full and backing up and what it all does is then pass it down to a trash can when it does get full and if you turn on the trash can dispenser any items you do not want get burned with lava.

I can do it in a couple seconds for ya or I can wait tell my friend gets online who has the world save and we can show you all of them that are working and have overflow trash cans as well. It was just updated I'm on bedrock and this would also work on Java edition my version says v1.20.31

why won't it let me set my filter blocks. it just starts sorting the 10 blocks i add into the bottom chest. Any Help
When i put in the renamed dirt, it just goes through the hopper and into the chest. I don't understand how you've managed to prevent that
You did the same thing I did and put the chests all the way to the top. There should be one hopper at the top that doesn't have a chest in front of it.

Id recommend using barrels instead of chests even tho its less space... chests tend to cause lag

Ok so I see a lot of people saying that got issues I built this and extended on too it it works very well and I think the reason why it might not be working for example the hopper eating the names blocks is that there putting a stack in of what they want in the chest so maybe put half a stack or less and it works fine for me but that’s how I fixed it
Nope. I can put a whole stack or one single item. Named or unnamed and it goes straight into the chest....
What if you want to sort single item stackable things (like tools/totems or something like that) or would it be impossible
Non stackable items, like tools and totems would require an alley sorter to sort into their own chest or just allow them to go into the overflow chest
You could also build a non stackable item sorter and I would recommend connecting it to a shulker loader or having a bit more storage chests depending what all you plan on throwing non stackable wise in the line as water/snow/lava buckets as well as tools and such can fill it up quicker than expected so just keep an eye on that slice if you plan on dumping alot of non stackables. Note that if you want non stackables to have thier own specific chest and be sorted individually and not in bulk all together then an allay sorter would be required
Hmm. I tried to figure it out myself.
The system is too slow to handle more than one item (per hopper), but does well if that is considered.
changing the repeater to a slower tick helps.
Added this to my skeleton trident grinder, only hiccup is it’s only sorting the first item. All other items get stuck on the second row. Anyone else have this issue? Thx
So I made this and when my bottom chest got completely filled with cobblestone (full chest), it got stuck in the bottom hopper behind the bottom chest. Anyway to fix that?
It sorts great but when one chest gets completely full it doesn't use the chest above itself.

Once the hopper behind the bottom chest fills, it’ll go into the chest above, almost sort of like an extra storage behind x)
And when you pull from the bottom chest, it will refill that spot from the hopper! :D

can this be changed to rows of 2 with no issue?
7 blocks wide, 8 blocks tall, 4 blocks long for sorter and 4 additional blocks per 3 items. So this 12 item sorter is 16 blocks long, 15 items would be 20, 18 is 24, etc.

I have got the hoppers to lock by removing them and replacing them now they are working properly thank you for the advice

Could you just put 3x 10 Dirt and then 5 Emeralds in the Hopper so that these 20 Chests aren’t just for diamonds
I modified it to make it secure now you need a Redstone torch to activate it, and this is super helpful :)

Just build the sorters opposite of the first set and add a hopper line/water system to move the items around the corners

Do the same thing but only do 2 rows of hoppers and chests. It doesnt affect anything.

Yes you are able to put as many or few chests as you want. I chose 5 because it allowed for easy access to the top chests.

When I made this some of the items will bring going across the water stream and get stuck on top of a hopper before it gets to its sorting spot. What do I do to fix that

@@overdrivegaming1646 Well I rebuilt it in creative and it works! I am not sure what happen before other than I did it in survival and without flying it makes it harder. When I rebuilt the material shot out the side haha luckily I didn't get mad and blow it up with tnt Minecraft has come a long way and I have not been playing for some time, had a stroke and out of work temporally to recover and picked up Minecraft again. Dude I was stoned and lost in a desert and stumbled on to a camel WTF! I love this game and this system is a must!!!!!
Hey also pretty sure this didn't help but instead of using dirt for the filler I renamed Scaffolding, since I am using mine half way down to bedrock you should never find Scaffolding caving? Then again its Minecraft, who knows haha
Any renamed item that stacks up to 64 works and on bedrock sometimes items skip over their respective hopper due to speed at which hoppers can pull in if its too many. Silent whisper if I remember correctly covers this in a video of his and all the mechanics of it since this was originally done on Java by impulse but the redstone parodies between the 2 versions cause some issues

I think if you just dont sort them they will go into the first hopper until all those chests are filled, then go to the next hopper over. So basically just follow all the steps except dont do the redstone on the back with the comparitors/etc and renamed blocks

Im at the same point. I throw items in the chest, they go up, they go across the first section and stop at the button. Ive tried different spot/positions for the water source and nothing.
Just fixed it. The block right before the first hopper, place a packed ice and a button. The water flow can't be more than 3 blocks for the items to go over the ice and button.

This is super cool thank you very much! With my ocd I modified it and well once you make 4 chest sections instead of 3 sections the water for me didn't flow correctly and broke my heart, I tried to turn it but have run into another problem, water flow! How do you turn a corner and keep the water flowing in the correct direction? I have been dinking around with trying to move water and starting to think its not possible. I just noticed something, my items are going straight to the bottom chest of each row of hoppers, do I put the Subscribe dirt in every row of the hoppers? Once the bottom chest is done I have another 4 rows of chests to fill.

Damn I’ve been trying to get this to work for the last few hours. My items keep getting stuck over the third hopper 😓
That's because the first water stream that you placed extends for too long, which prevents the items from going to the next ice block (it gets stuck right on top of the third hopper). What you need to do is place packed ice next to the first hopper and place a button/sign, then place water on top of the first hopper as well.
I can’t put 10 subscribes into the hoppers they don’t stay in like his does, they feed through to the chest. How can I stop that

If your hoppers are facing into the other hopper it wont work unless it is facing into the comparator

The packed ice is used so that you can send the items further and the buttons is used to block the water from flowing the wrong direction. You can switch the buttons with signs or pressure plates if you like but not the packed ice.

Are your red stone torches in the right place? The hopper should be locked until it has 45 items

double check the redstone is correct and all the comparators and repeaters are facing correctly, also make sure your hoppers are all pointed correctly, i got this working on my xbox world rn
I figured out I misplaced the Redstone tourches one block too low got it working now
