I was just needing this
My biggest tip to anyone building one of these: When doing the item filters, take the time to rename a stack or two of dirt on an anvil before putting it in there, that way any dirt that accidentally winds up in the system won't end up interfering with your sorter and breaking it. You'll thank me later!
Big brain
It doesn't have to be dirt. There's actually quite a few ways to load the sorting hoppers. Including not using a second item in the same hopper. Also the amount of items needed depends on the redstone signal it's receiving. Say if you want to sort items that only stack to 16, you can reconfigure the redstone slightly to add one signal strength that changes the number it's divisible by. And you can even tile it right up against your 64 sorter with a comparator set to subtract mode with a higher restone output on the opposite side.
But you'd have to connect a dispenser elevator up 2 blocks to do that and make sure the circuit is made with repeaters and not dust so the 2 don't connect
I use bone blocks and rename it to a 'ITEM' with '.' and the number of the sorter.
The 4 filler blocks should be something you wouldn't find in the sorter system in the first place and rename the stack of 4 to something MC will never recognize as a default block name. ie: I-INGOT.00001 or DMD.00003

To get around the 41 items i figured out a way, 1(of the item you want) 3 blockers(dirt or name dirt) and last one well be 41 of the blocker. If you name dirt than you can still sort dirt. This way you only need 2 of the main items you need in the first slot. Rest well be named dirt (ex. Blocker)
Example:
Sorter=
1x Iron / 1xBlocker / 1xBlocker / 1xBlocker / 41xBlocker
Some fixes is move the 41 to the 2nd slot. It worked either way for me.

I have used the 41 dirt method instead of the actual item, but (someone confirm this please) i think the idea of using 41 of the actual item makes it overflow proof, havent tested this though
as soon as it goes over 41-1-1-1-1 and becomes 42, the comparator becomes strong enough to activate the redstone and reach the redstone torch at the back, which unpowers the hoppers below allowing items to go through...

6 blocks
3 hoppers
3 redstone
2 chests
1 comparator
1 glass
1 redstone torch
1 repeater
Items:
Per item stack of 64: 42
Per item stack of 16: 11
The rest:
2 chests if you want excess storage
2 chests if it's an item sorter, otherwise link up the hoppers to whatever farm you're making

Pro tip: instead of dirt that jc used, you can rename that dirt to "Blockers" (or anything that you want) and thn you can even sort dirt

Yes JC YES! Please continue making tutorials on Redstone contraptions, it really helps us out. There's hardly any CZcamsrs that show how to make this stuff on bedrock, and when they do its not as easy, small, compact, and efficient as this. I really hope you make more Redstone videos. Thanks!
Silnetwisperer makes simple farms that actually work on bedrock there is no reason to not use silentwipserer’s farms unless you are still in the early game, but even then JC isn’t great his farms suck most of the time

One thing, which you may have since changed, is the rapid pace of your dialogue. A bit slower pace of speech would make these good tutorials even better.

I was actually considering making an elevator using a modified version of your elevator (which lets me call the elevator if it's on another floor) as an entrance to a storage room, while tearing down my tiny one. im tired of throwing out precious resources bc im out of room. this will work perfect for that.

I like to use water instead of that top row of hoppers. It is less efficient, but it uses up less iron and I personally like the clicking noise that the redstone clock dropper makes
i just wanna say thank you for your easy and working tutorial this was the third model i’ve tried and so far it’s the only one that’s worked, i’m immediately adding this to my gold farm.
I made a modified version of this for my skeleton spawner farm. I used a filter on the first two chests to collect the bones and arrow and just used hoppers without filters for the remaining chests to collect the none stackable items. Works great. Thanks for this one JC.

The storage system still works thanks so much!! I have added it onto your version of the gold farm and then the swords tunnel into a furness system with an automatic bamboo farm connected to the back of that for infinite fuel!
Now I have a gold farm that produces nothing but gold ingots, nuggets and rotten flesh by combining 3 of your builds 🙌

Another option is to place 41 placeholders and only 1 of the sorting item. That way you don’t have to get 41 diamonds. 🙌🏼
It creates system overflow and your filler items will be sent to the chests

@@MisterSleep1123 I could see this working if you put like 2 or 3 in there and put the 41 dirt after the item, like in the last slot for example...
The fact it works for you is that you haven't run into scenario where it stops working basically. So either you have alternating systems (so that Redstones of each item sorter do not touch at any point) or you haven't encountered overflow yet.
If you do not use alternating systems (and if you are then I don't see a reason to use 45 item system when you could be using 22 system instead) then 41-1-1-1-1 is the number you want to go with as it should guarantee maximum of 68 items in the hopper (when 64-1-1-1-1 occurs).
Using 1-whatever with this or similar system could theoretically get you up to 107 items.
Number of items in a hopper dictates Redstone signal power. If you exceed certain threshold (not sure if exactly 68) you will unlock hoppers around the overflowed hopper and those will let placeholders through rendering your system broken.
Fortunately for me I used water stream to move items around when I tried the exact same thing. That made the overflow occur much sooner (than if chests got full) so I noticed and reverted to 41-1-1-1 method before getting my stuff mixed or lost.
If you are sorting something rare where you do not want to waste 41 items just to get sorted going there are other videos with different systems that either alternate or do not have overflow protection (these systems usualy use 2-5-5-5-5 setting). But arguably there may not be need to sort such items.

How did you expand it? Once I expand it past the 8, the ones at the beginning stop working. So if I add 3 new chests the beginning 3 chests stop working

Tip: Place in a Non-stackable item filter first so that your overflow chest doesn't get clogged up by them.
Just raise the back end redstone of a regular item sorter by one so that the comparator reads off of the transport line instead. It works because the non-stackable items give off a strong enough signal to unlock the hopper below and allow it to get pulled down but a stackable item won't.
Perfect for general mob farms and spawner grinders.

I made this large (40 different items) and connected the initial drop box to the “clean out” chest of my automatic shulker unloader. Thank you! Works wonderfully!

@@centurykam I just made the dropout chest of the shulker unloader the drop-in chest of the item sorter. Takes a little layout based on where you want everything to finish, but it’s worth the effort. Good luck

Hi mate, great setup and explanation as usual! I'd like to use this system combined with the raid farm system you've shown in one of your videos. I merged both loot collections systems into this item sorter, but I'd like to add a secondary sorter for non-stackable items: crossbows to be fuel to melt armours and weapons while the rest of the non-stackable (books, totems..) are dropped on a chest. Do you have any video explaining the non-stackable filtering and melting process? This would be a great addon for any mob farm
did you get this system working with the raid farm without the extra sorting mechanic. if so how id you stop the raid from spawning on it, just leaves?
@@la-pointy8190 yes have some extra leaves in one of the chests because leaves break easily.leaves stop all raiders from spawning
This is waaay simpler and more compact than the method I've been using
i had to link this to one of my builds i previously had and i had to rebuild the whole thing as it was off by a block so annoying but this tutorial was still really helpful thank you JC

I'm gonna be the hero of our Minecraft realm with this build. Thanks JC! (update) I now have a 3 story - 20 items per floor- sorter system using this machine as the base example and it still works fine. I hardly have to do any manual sorting after a mining expedition now.
you literally could've built silentwisperer's storage system, it's small 12×12 and one chest can store 54 DIFFERENT items.
The biggest thing I learned from this video is that chests can still be opened with a stair block directly above them.

I needed this badly, I made your 1.19 mob farm, but for the big box that spawns mobs I made 3 more of them so its 4x efficient( making more) and it overflows with items

I hooked it up to an iron farm and after iron chest got filled the hopper didn’t want to move to the next Chest how do I fix that
i used this item sort on my gold farm with lava to destroy the swords, then the gold nuggets and rotten flesh get sorted into a shulker loader so im not having to sort chests every 2 mins and then can afk for hours
You can also place 1 of the item that you want to sort at the beginning and then 41 dirt or whatever blocker you use. This is a lot cheaper however if the system overflows it’ll just break the entire thing.

You can also use 44 of the filler items and 1 of the item you want to sort. Also if you use dirt then rename them so that other dirt blocks wont mess with the filters

Tip: you can rename the item (dirt in the video) to anything you want, that way you wont have any problems with the farm breaking
If you want to make sure that everything is sorted correctly, you can rename the dirt or whatever you use to something random and it will not glitch, like if you were to accidentally put dirt, then you wouldn't have to worry about it.

No
Maybe if you funnel two or more hoppers into a chest. So basically build it in the other side and place the other item in. Also It’s probably not going to look neat.

Whenever possible, use 40 of the item you want to sort, and then only 4 blockers. This will prevent the system from crashing if a chest becomes full.
For example, use 40 cobblestone and 4 blockers, if the cobblestone chest gets full, the hopper will stop after having 1 stack of cobble and 4 blockers, this will not cause the comperator to give off 4 strength signal. But if you use 1 cobble, and 4x10 blockers, then the hopper would get 64+40 items, which would cause the redstone signal from the comperator to bleed over to other items nearby.
question : do you need to have 8 sorting chests in this design, or can u cut it down so its just 3
You can cut it down (or expand) to however many you need so you can just do 3 if you want.
I use a solo version of this for my chicken farm so that the feathers go elsewhere

I just want to add something:
If you want to make sure no items will go to the second up to the last slot, rename the item place in there with random letter and numbers. This will prevent overflow and let you put items as same as the middle slots

When I add items to be sorted they fill the 41 blocks to 64 then everything goes to the leftover chest

I followed step by step the tutorial a all my items i getting stuck in the middle layer of the hoppers. I tried renaming the blockers and all, stil doesnt work. Doesn anybody know if this is still working in bedrock 1.19?
I just built it. Currently working for 25 items with plans to expand to 100+
yea its doing the same thing for me. the hoppers getting filled with 68 items and not going in to chest I think this need a update or it don't support 1.19
Tip: instead of using 41 of an item plus an extra 3, you can do one of the item in the first slot, 41 of a random item in the second slot, and 3 of the random item, one for each of the 3 last final slots

Question: What is the significance of 41 items in the hopper slot? I have seen so many of your videos that uses a sorter and it is always 41 items?
if it goes over 41 the comparator signal strength gets strong enough to activate the redstone torch at the back which de-powers the hoppers below, allowing items to pass through..

Hello JC, I've built the sorting system, and when i placed the item, it kept stacking up in the middle hopper instead of going to the chest, so I was wondering if I did it wrong or it's kinda outdated since its been 2months since the video released
