That’s the way to go. That’s exactly what I have: 2017 Sony 75” Z9D LED in the living room and a 2020 Sony 55” A8H OLED in my small bedroom. Would love to upgrade to an 85” Mini LED for the living room though, just not sure which one yet. Bravia 7, Bravia 9, Hisense U8N, Hisense U9N or the new 2024 TCL QM8? 🤔 Any suggestions? I’m planning to wait until black friday to get the best deal.

What is this about? I have the G4 and Bravia 9 and the Bravia 9 is definitely not a disappointment. In my opinion it is the best lcd in existence. People, just wait for proper measurements by Vincent and also Rtings has the B9 in its lab. The B7 is almost equal as the X95L, and the X95L is still a beast. So believe me when i tell you that i'm really impressed by the B9. No real reviews and comparisons have been made. Set it against my G4, then they trade blows. Set it against any other LCD, then it is king
they are just looking for clicks.
I realize that, ever since they were invited to view this TV they have been pushing it, but the reality is always different, LCD TVs will always have big trade-offs with contrast lack of real blacks and blooming....

No way a full array local dimming tv is even close to the X95L mini-led. I’m sure the 7 looks good but not x93 or x95 good.

I went the other day and filmed in 12bit REC2020 4000 nits and the video will be on my second channel with option to download in Dolby Vision next week. I love 4000 nits content. Is very demanding the Sony Bravia 8 does great but I didn't know about the other TVs that you mentioned. Thx again!
I haven't seen anyone expecting it to beat the OLEDs so I'm confused by the comment re. resetting the expectation. The expectations seem reasonable given the price and the initial Sony marketing around their local dimming.
Ive seen folks compare it to the G4 and A95L in mixed content, including high APL scenes, and most folks preferred the contrast of the OLED over the high APL of the Bravia 9.
Most folks don't feel a strong desire for anything brighter than these new OLEDs because there isn't much content graded above 1000 nits.
And the OLEDs are okay (not great) in high APL content too.
I already know I am getting a Bravia 9 it's just a matter of 85" (preferably) or 75". I am coming from LCD FALD. It's nothing but a massive upgrade in everything. Couldn't care less what OLED lovers demand. I know what I want and need. This doesn't mean I don't like OLED. I would also contemplate one, but they have flaws that I don't want to deal with in MY use case scenario. I use my TV as PC monitor and I do NOT disable any ASBL to void warranties. I use my TV for everything including movies and games and PC stuff. It will burn in because of sheer amount of use. The YT logo is like a mini CNN logo as well. I use CZcams a lot. I don't want my desktop dimming from ASBL.
I am fully aware that some blooming could be seen here and there. But I also don't treat my MiniLED like an OLED in FMM mode sitting in the dark. I sit in a dimly lit room. So already there the ambient bias lighting help with any downsides, even if not eliminating it. I prefer brightness and HDR impact. I also prefer shadow detail to the point I rather have lifted blacks at times to SEE everything than black crush.
I come from 34ms 4K 60 gaming. I think a 9ms 120hz with VRR will be a big upgrade. The black levels and colors and HDR brightness will 100% from what I have.
I love sony processing I tried the S95B and it was so BAD in CZcams videos compared to an old Sony because X-reality creation upscaling and detail enhancement. The S95B looked like smear and blurry. Only good at 4K.
I won't have an OLED sitting next to my TV so any minute thing I am missing I won't even be aware of. The B9 will be the best image quality for me. It's not an OLED but as icing on the cake it does get closer than ever before. That is just a bonus. I don't expect any OLED out of it.
I don't want to go with QM851G even if I can save money. Because it will lack things I need. It's just not there yet as the Sony is. Hence I am willing to drop the cash. I am not going into debt doing it. I already have the money. I will keep it for many years until there is a new massive leap and maybe even Micro-LED or new tech has come out for consumers.
This TV needs to be reviewed showing it's abilities not being held as a "Why isn't it an OLED". That's the annoying part with some many testers and reviewers they treat it like it has to be an OLED. always dark room and always low nit content to enhance OLED black levels etc. It's disingenous at this point. Shoot it in a lit room and also use content it was designed for. But also some other content to show has it improved, is it even better with contrast than previous years etc. No one expects an OLED. At least not if you know anything about TVs.
No matter the verdict, it's gonna be an 85" Bravia 9 in my Caribbean living room (use case - 10000 natural nits 5am - 6pm/sunny). So far, its pic quality is top and deep blacks are very good. ....Bun G4 (Brian's beast).

@@NexGenTek yeah the problem is that’s kind of literal- very thick chunky TV. Question how hot does it get and how much energy does it use? I would imagine probably more than comparable OLED because of the energy required for all the processing of the backlight… even though current fluorescent excitation mode OLED is only 25% efficient and therefore throws a decent amount of heat- as opposed to future tech phosphorescence mode OLED (phOLED) which should be near 100% efficient, and have potential for much higher brightness to compete with the much brighter current mini-LED LCD TVs like the Brav 9.
X95L 85" looks and performs the same
43:49 - "If you think you want an OLED, go get one.....JUST go get one!!" And that's just what I did a week ago.....65" A80CL for $1699 at CostCo INCLUDING a 5 year warranty.
How is it? I'm thinking about the A80L as well.

I love my Sony A95L and it's the best I think. Side by side their isn't anything major between them and picture quality depends on your settings your using.
To me, the Bravia 9 is MILES ahead of the A95L. I had the A95L and sent it back after 4 days. WAY TOO DIM. The Bravia 9 is a masterpiece!! Beautiful, bright picture with punchy colors and near OLED contrast.

Brian did his video on the b9 in a dark room then lowered the iso until you couldnt see ANY blooming and exaggerated the contrast.

I can’t speak for everyone else - but my interest in comparing a Bravia 9 to an LG G4 is because I’m just tying to decide exactly which trade offs I want to live with:
- I love OLED!
- But my tv room gets a lot of sunlight - and even though I don’t let my kids watch too much tv, it’s brutal watching something with them when there is ambient light and the tv is washed out
- or sometimes I will play a Pokémon game with my son in the morning and there is a lot of sunlight in the room
In a perfect world, the LG G4 would work great for all hours. But I wonder if the Bravia 9 would be excellent for the sunlight hours - and yet still put on a mighty nice picture for when I am watching a movie at night in the near dark.
In short - I’m curious about the comparison because it’s important to know how good it’s strengths are and HOW MUCH worse it is in the dark.
I’m sure it’s worse - but if it’s still fantastic in the dark - and great in the light, that’s a pretty great option.
Although my heart wants the G4 - the Bravia 9 may be the better all arounder for my situation.

@@timothylock2043I think the G4 - or M4 when it comes out - is probably how I’m leaning - but I’m surprised at how how impressive the B9 sounds.
Fully appreciating the tradeoffs - which I think the guys made quite clear!
But it sounds like playing a little Switch with my son or watching hockey or basketball with son during the day - the B9 is going to be great.
Problem is - most people do not want nuance.
They want to hear “OLED Killer”
I'm comparing the bravia 9 to my 65" Sony Z9F and my first 4k tv the 55" Sony 930E. I post on AVS forum and follow a lot of the comments on CZcams that have Bravia 9 videos. Majority of the comments attack the bravia 9 because it isn't a oled. I don't get this mind frame that if isn't a OLED it's garbage. I'm getting the 75" Bravia 9 later this year after I see it with my own eyes. No disrespect to Brian, Fomo, KG, and all the others but I don't agree with what they see. I have my own eyes. Also watching a video on CZcams is not a true representation also. At the end of the day peole should buy what they want and not be persuaded by these influencers and CZcams comments. If you can't stand blooming get an oled. If you don't mind some blooming and love high peak brightness then get a mini LED. If you have room and can afford it then get both. Be happy with your purchase and enjoy your display.
I just want to encourage you to follow your instincts when it comes to this stuff. If you have been around a while and know what you like don't second guess yourself. I can tell you first hand the 75" XR90 is a beast
Majority who want to buy new flagship is after main tv and wants to select either. B9 higher brightness doesn’t show in majority of scenes whereas OLEDs micro contrast that created 3D effect is. People hoped perhaps B9 brightness would add something extra that would create 3D. But it didn’t, fell short. So the usual over hype and disappointment. Now if Sony would price it better still many could pick it over OLED but they again didn’t. Dollar for dollar, pound for pound G4 is better choice for majority.
@@whitecrowuk575 like they said in the video the content has to be mastered to the higher peak brightness levels. Some CZcams videos are but most stuff isn't yet. Keyword YET... This will change very shortly. If you don't care about that then that's fine but there are some great benefits now and there will be even more in future content.
@@Wizznilliam I mean doesn’t show even with dynamic tone mapping. I assume because it a) doesn’t go that high in small specular highlights due to blooming control / oled probably higher here b) scenes that it could go higher are very few and some movies don’t have any.
@whitecrowuk575 That's just not true. You are just saying things that you don't know. And my point doesn't even have anything to do with Dynamic Tone Mapping. The whole point of the higher peak brightness is that they don't have to do as much tone mappings. It can get bright enough to show the real color that is supposed to be displayed. And you don't have to believe me. FOMO already put out his video hours ago that he mentioned here showing this. He had the comparison against the OLEDs that could not display the full color ranges that went beyond their brightness capabilities.
I finally saw the S95D at my local Bestbuy. Not a fan of the screen. In my opinion it pulls dimensionality out of the picture. Not an epic fail by Samsung, but they should have offered customers the choice of screen coating (matte or glossy) on their flagship...and should have put their best processor in the television. Samsung, Give us your best processor in your 2025 QD OLEDs...the leadership team made a substantial decisioning error by reserving the best processor for the 900D. It's embarrassing. I know Samsung engineers have to be frustrated being handcuffed by their leadership team. It's a shame.
Yea, the ugly coating setting the 95D back of the G4 in contrast. And the G4 is near perfect out of the box 📦 and beats the Samsung in upscaling. The 95D may win on even more vibrant colors or gaming features.
Thing is, they always need something for next year and in all fairness, the s90d does get the glossy screen and have better abl, although not quite as bright.
Apparently watching the tv in the bright room that’s when you see the problems with the coating it’s better watched in a dark room

Sony made it easy on everyone this year, if LED fits your use case then it's the Bravia 9 end of discussion just wait for the inevitable price drop. The one criticism I have is they really hyped the 4,000 nit mastering monitor and gave a false expectation that this new led driver they developed would hit those numbers in the Bravia 9.

Great discussion Brian, I like how you can appreciate all factors of tv performance and short falls with honest disclosure. I have an S90C, C3, plasma and several mini leds, all have thier strengths and weaknesses and like you can enjoy all for what they are. Panel tech is very close now so it's a good time for consumers.

I've had the 75" Bravia 9 for a week now and it's actually blown me away. The best I've seen so far when it comes to purely movie watching. If you like a cinematic/FILMIC look this TV is your baby. I can't say for certain but I think what makes it special is that it gets the scene APL right first and foremost. This is like the base level for everything. I can't wait to see how it holds up with others against a reference monitor

Here's my bottom line, I'm getting the 85' B9 for three reasons. 1) zero worry of burn in 2) size 3) shadow detail. I've literally seen clips from an a95l where parts of an image are completely black. However on the B9 there is content there. Why would i pay 5000 for a tv that literally blacks out details. I know most people say colors are more saturated on oled, bit i think its more from the fact they are just darker and not accurate. You take an 85" B9 and put a soft d65 white ambient light behind it, and not only will you see zero blooming, but the contrast and colors will blow oled away
Many LCD lovers have/had unrealistic expectations that the Bravia 9 would equal or exceed the best OLED format whether WRGB or QD OLED. The Bravia 9 was not designed to that. Rob from Sony never made that claim. Rob only said that the new Sony 3110 mastering monitor and Bravia 9 share a similar backlight system and the focus was bringing cinema home. That's it. There were no claims that the Bravia 9's picture would equal the mastering monitor or an OLED. The Bravia 9 can get overall higher picture luminance and brighter HDR, but it's still an LCD panel with the same deficiencies albeit much improved. Sony never deemed the Bravia 9 to be a masters series for a reason. Only Sony self emissive OLEDs will receive that designation. The Bravia 9 is a fantastic and formidable television, but it's core technology is its limiting factor when compared to a self emissive OLED. Let's also not forget that as OLED advancement continues it will reach higher peak brightness levels.

Z9K would like a word, as well as the Z9F , Z9G, and Z9J.
It’s definitely a master series. Yes it’s not Oled wasn’t designed to beat Oled in blacks. It was designed to beat Oled in Terms of HDR while giving you the best local dimming of any mini led and it easily does. It’s the best hdr presentation I’ve ever witnessed. No ABL no burn in. I love my Oled but the B9 will be my go to for movies. They truly brought cinema home.
Tell that to actual QDOLED (A95L) and WOLED (G4) owners. They trade blows with B9 for 1K nit mastered content but the B9 display absolutely destroys any OLED to date for 4K nit mastered content.

The increase in brightness in B9 is certainly good. But it’s not so important when watching, for example, you’re watching a movie with a night scene, a passing car blinds you with headlights, for a moment you go slightly blind, getting a little discomfort, as much as you need in a movie at home. The 95L made it possible in such a scene not to go blind, but also to be slightly surprised by the sufficient brightness from the headlights and at the same time getting a slight dazzle does not cause discomfort. Regarding the highlights of white on black. The 95L had a reasonable compromise and was not at all annoying when viewing. The B9 is better at this, but highlights can still be seen. I would write it like this. In terms of highlights, the B9 is better than the 95L, but the difference is not so significant if you compare the 95L with the 95k.
The key is use case and versatility! Excellent to highlight that in the argument!

Hi Guys, love your work. I’ve seen FOMO say “this (Bravia 9) is a tv for the future” a number of times on a number of different videos. But, why would you buy a tv designed for 4000 nit content , now, when, by the time it (4000 nit content) becomes commonplace, you’d be thinking about buying a new tv?
Wow. Excuses, excuses. The problem I have is Sony is charging flagship prices for updated “old” technology. The Bravia 9 is a tv Sony could have made 5 years ago. They tell us it’s their flagship tv and we can’t compare it to the competitor’s flagship tvs? Get real. Oled vs mini led is a real concern for consumers. We didn’t ask Sony to update an LCD and now present it as a flagship. The A95L was your tv of the year and qd oled is a valid upgrade on LCD. Why won’t Sony put their money into a 4k nit qd oled? Because it’s cheaper to make mini led. I understand the near future movies will have highlights at 4k nits and above, but don’t try reach that objective with a tv that can’t handle blooming, has issues with movement, local dimming and other issues we already conquered with oled. It seems Sony is going backwards and trying to sell it as something new and a flagship. The consumers deserve better. Don’t try to sell me something at a flagship price that can’t compare with what the industry already has available.
You people obviously haven’t seen these new miniLEDs in person. Even last years X95L kept up with these stagnant OLEDs. OLED has become boring honestly. Not much improvement. I just returned my 83” G4 for the 85” Bravia 9. All this OLED hype for low nit dim displays that can’t handle near black scene. Best OLED on the market is the A95L. Only one worth getting. This Bravia 9 is a breath of fresh air. I’m tired of dealing with all the annoyances of OLED these past few years.
@@IntotheFurther. I respect your opinion. The Bravia 9 is probably a good tv for what it is. My issue is with Sony calling it their flagship and charging the high price for it. Simple put: I’m not sure the Bravia9 can hang with their real flagship, the A95L. Bring on the comparisons. Sony would do best to lower the price of the Bravia9 and call it their mid-tier model. By calling it their flagship, they are inviting comparisons to other flagships from competitors. Fair or not, Sony brought this on themselves. The silver lining is that we consumers win. There are some great tvs out there. Buy what you want. It’s your money. Enjoy your tv.

@Brian I purchased brand new Sony a95k Qd-oled in sony centre. Last models are avalible in EU, is little less expensive than a95L but for me better design. And my model out from manufacturing 02/2024 you think that could have 2 gen panel? I don’t think so that they put panel from 2022.
Oled doesn't shine just in dark rooms 😂😂 go to best buy in its bright ambient light and it still smokes all the mini LEDs.contrast is a huge strength on any lighting condition.
I’m sorry, and I do love you guys show, but there is absolutely zero way I’m going back to a miniLED after going to OLED. I even said it on the main Sony site whenever they brought out the Bravia 9 out. MiniLED is basically a fancy backlight system. People just want cheaper OLED and brighter OLEDs. Apple with their tandem display has shown other TV manufacturers that the brightness is there for OLED. They just need to continue to innovate. Manufacturing the second layer of OLED is actually not that much more expensive, also why can’t there be a third tandem layer increasing the brightness even further? And I believe that if people are offered a 2000 fullscreen OLED screen.. I think they’ll be satisfied. 2000 full screen is amazingly bright. 4000 nits is amazing but at these bright levels, you only experienced them for a few seconds on Movies for explosions or sun shots. Our eyes are very much, tuned to or adjusted to the normal visual range of colors that OLED produces.
You can love OLED all you want but the tech is maxed out, LG muight be able to squeeze out a little bit more brightness over the next few years but it wont be nothing earth shaking, MiniLed on the other hand still have lots of improvement for brightness, and blooming control so it will continue to get better.
Suit yourself, I like the better technology myself, and mini LED is the better of the technology. OLED has reached it's peak. OLED pixels have a limited life span and get quite a bit dimmer over their life span. The heat the generate is basically their downside. My Bravia 9 has nearly the same contrast as an OLED, much brighter and impactful picture, panel technology that doesn't degrade over time, and much better shadow detail. The Bravia 9 looks much more life like than OLED. Why don't you check one out before limiting yourself!
@@user-oq6sc1qm4jOLED is far from being maxed out. WRGB OLED with MLA will hit 4,000+ nits next year, the same as the Mastering Monitors and content produced. They can also get even brighter. QD-OLED has plenty of room for brightness and will easily hit 4,000 nits with room to spare. They haven’t even tapped into blue phosphorus OLED yet. All of this to match LCD brightness (content won’t be produced over 4,000 nits for many many years).
The Bravia 9 is awesome, but to say OLED is done is not correct. Many will see this in 2025.
Agree with you 100%. People have come to love oled and that's fine. I've owned oleds exclusively since 2021. Im so ready to go to mini led, especially one as capable as the B9. I'm over how dim oleds are. More specificly how they come out of black. People don't realize how much shadow detail is lost from scene to scene. And the colors are more saturated sure, but they are less accurate in my opinion.

You guys made an excellent point about OLED vs LED. if the the TVs are priced the same (65-77 inches), just get the OLED, but if you want a massive screen (83-100 inches), then LED is the clear choice, and Sony’s Bravia 9 LEDs are gonna get bigger, better and probably cheaper in the next few years. I wonder if Samsung Display is working on larger QD-OLEDs for 2025-26.

Brian the reason why people are looking to see if the Bravia 9 "beats" (or even meets) an OLED is because they want to have the same or better overall picture quality as an OLED (which won't happen) and therefore not have to worry about burn in. This is still on top of many people's minds today. They are thinking a TV with OLED quality and high Nit level and no fear of burn in. Then everyone would be very happy...:) I think I'll stick with my Panny GZ2000.

I love my 65" A8H. Although, I need an LED TV for the living room. My wife is a teacher and likes to keep the tv on most of the day during summer break.
How is real-world off-angle viewing on the Bravia 9? Rtings scored the Bravia 7 and U8N as a 5.3 in off-angle viewing, and that will not work out well in my living room.

Great for Sony providing another option that has its own strengths. Love that they are coming with technology innovation of their own rather than only using LG or Samsung panels. AND the cohesive strategy with their Company really works.

Not exactly. Many hoped including myself that the bigger brightness would be more pronounced and give more depth to the picture. Reality is showing - between OLED hitting 1500 and B9 there is little difference but the micro contrast actually adds more to the depth than the increased brightness which doesn’t show in majority of scenes.

@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY For mass market consumer adoption, I fully expect mini-LED to be the future given the large price difference between it and OLED, but for now, if you want the very best and can afford it, that's still OLED, and that will be the case for at least the next few years.

Sony is my favorite and they always will be, but having said that, I’m buying 115 inches of TCL love when it comes out !!!!
Of course there should be a great TV for the special use case of high ambient light. But should that be the top of the line? Can it ever match a QDOLED for color and detail in a light controlled room? It crossed my mind that maybe Samsung wanted too much or refused to sell the latest QDOLED panel to Sony and that's how we arrived at the Bravia 9. We'll never know.
So, OLED is better for motion handling, and therefore better for sports, but my favorite sport is NHL, so would the brighter mini LED make it a better choice? Thanks!
i think you guys are missing the point. Sony has this as its flagship. It should beat last years flagship. regardless of technology. The reason people are not happy about the blooming is because it was implied that the blooming would be unnoticeable due to the advanced mini led control where it is revolutionary technology. Turns out its not.

We need a comparison between Bravia 8 and Bravia 9, watching action HDR movies in dark room with motion settings turned off.
So its stutter free Bravia 9 vs the superior contrast of the Bravia 8. Watching the movie as 100% creator's intent.
B9 is one of the better LEDS and in some types of scenes even beats OLEDs, the only problem is the overall image quality isn't as good as an OLED so the price should be lower. I'd wait till Black Friday to buy.

I purchased the A95L 77-inch before the Bravia 9 series was announced and I am super happy with it. I mostly watch 4K Blu-Ray movies, stream online TV/movies, and play PS5 video games. However, the Bravia 9 improvements excite me with the promise of next level HDR brightness detail and for it being a part of Sony's new movie viewing reference technology. And I would not mind owning more than one TV, then I could put one in the living room and one in the bedroom. Say I purchase the Bravia 9 75-inch or even the 85-inch version, now I have both and life is good... OK, now the problem is which TV should I put in which room?! Note the ambient light is average and decently controlled in both rooms. So this scenario comes down to what exactly, the A95L's OLED pure black contrast, zero bloom, and other OLED goodness vs the new Bravia 9's superior HDR brightness technology, better bright scene highlights and details, ETC, and which would I prefer in the living room vs the bedroom? Which is Ultimately better for movies, TV, and video games... and I honestly do not know. Perhaps I should wait a few years for something even more spectacular over my A95L, a more advanced version of the Bravia 9, as Sony believes that OLED will plateau and the Bravia 9 tech will eventually surpass OLED, especially considering the new Sony movie reference monitor now in the field making movies, which is more akin to the Bravia 9 tech in ultimate HDR brightness and details than the A95L or any other OLED. No matter what happens, I intend to continue with Sony TVs as they have more than won me over with the quality of the A95L. Perhaps the Bravia 9 tech will eventually prove to outlast the lifespan of the OLED tech as well, with less chance of burn in, less organic light diodes to wear out, as I would imagine being the case. So at what point does the OLED specialness not matter anymore vs the new Bravia 9 tech? How much does the Bravia 9 backlight tech need to evolve to become the undisputed king? I also agree that size and price will play a big part of that answer. Going from 55-inch to 65-inch to 77-inch was transformative. And I don't think that I have hit my upper limit on TV size yet. I. could try the Bravia 9 85-inch next, then creep up to a 120-inch display easily. My conclusion for now is that the A95L was the right choice at the time of purchase. Two to five years from now, I think the Bravia 9 series will win overall with the better HDR brightness and with whatever improvements they can make to combat traditional OLED strengths.

I don't trust the Chinese brands to last very long before replacing is required, say maybe 3-4 years if you're lucky. Who wants a 100" dead tv you need to get rid of, not me. I've had Sony TVs for decades and had no problems, had a Samsung plasma- died in 4 years.
I dont get it. Bravia 9 is the most overhyped tv on the market, by far. Every video you guys made on it had comments full of people preordering before they knew anything about it. Its up to us to tell them to slow down. Who else is going to call b/s on sony's marketing, and point to all the issues they have year after year? Your hype videos are whats not helping. Idk what ppl were expecting since the sony A95L launched late last year and Samung had little to show for 3rd gen QD Oled improvements. As an Oled fan i personally think this tv is very impressive it might not be oled but wow does it get close on many levels.
I didn't expect it to be 100% as good as OLED, but I think I we were over hyped. For mini LED, it's a flagship. While I love OLED, I haven't 100% written the Bravia 9 off. I thought about Bravia 8 but people keep saying WOLED is inferior to QD-OLED but Sony only has One QD-OLED and it's expensive AF at 77" and above. I need upscaling because I have Cable tv ( and some streaming too). I watch a lot of tv shows but also watch a lot of movies too. I need the TV that can do it ALL. Not just good at one thing or another.

You should do a video on various use cases. I dont game . watch tv shows and movies by streaming. I am getting 2 high end tvs in the next six months. 75 and 98 inches. Cant get the darkness necessary for OLED.

when/if that 4000 nit content comes. demo reels look amazing but most tv shows/movies HDR implementation is mediocre at best. let alone trying to get the HDR dialed in for consoles and PC. still interested to see the comparisons.
If Sony, looking down the tech pipeline, doesn't see OLED reaching 4000nits peak brightness because of tech limitations and reliability concerns, then I would really like to see them offer a dual layer mini LED with more trickle down tech from the mastering monitor...if they can do it. I would envision a limited 2025 or 2026 production offering...and enthusiasts will pay the premium.
Sony doesn’t produce oled panels. They have no influence over the tech. So they can predict what can happen and cannot. Apple did dual stacked oled so it is possible, cheaper and better than dual led. Imagine 3k -4k peaks and 600 nits full screen white. The endgame TV.

Look at the market share of OLED.. People still love LCD and I think that many are disappointed and hoped that LCD would make a massive jump this year..

I want to make it clear that I am not critiquing FOMO or Brian here, but I am critiquing Sony.
The Bottom line is the Bravia 9 is marketing. I'm sure it's a good panel, but I'm also sure Sony makes more selling its own mini-LED tech then it will having to buy panels from LG. The expectation since Sony announced these panels was that the B9 would match or beat OLEDs. Further, if Sony really did say there would still be blooming, then it was in the fine print. I'm must respectfully disagree with your comments that Sony was always up front about the Bravia 9's capacities. They really were not, and the community is not a bunch of dunces. We were sold a narrative that the B9 was someting of a revolution - all the advantages of a mini-LED panel without the disadvantages. Precision control of dimming zones, virtually no blooming, 4000 nits. All the videos about these incredible lighting zones all but eliminating blooming - a narrative that was broadcast by every channel - turned out to be exactly that, marketing. What was meant by those videos that striped away all the colors and contrast and showed us the raw lighting zones and how much precision control the panel would have then? In the end, from what I've seen, there's still all the same blooming that you would expect on any LED panel.
Honestly, I strongly suspected that the B9 was all marketing and would not (and could not) be much of an improvement over the X95L, and that it certainly would not beat the A95L. My issue is that Sony is presenting this as its flagship model this year AND priced it accordingly. It's not better tech, it's just a better business deal for Sony. That's fine, but don't sell us like it isn't.
It depends on what tv people are coming from as well. If someone has a 2020 or older flagship TV, then certainly Bravia 9 will feel like a very rewarding upgrade, but if you're going from 2023 to 2024, it may not feel as ground-breaking. One area Sony really stands out is motion. I feel very annoyed watching fast-moving scenes from any top tier TV whether mini-led or OLED from any TV Maker other than Sony. It just doesn't feel as smooth on other tvs. This is where Bravia 9 definitely feels revolutionary (when compared to any competitor) even though Sony has always excelled in motion.

@vacguy77 Most of these reviews state that qd-oled is the way to go over w-oled. They state that the color vibrancy and luminance over the competition make it so they can't recommend them. Now, the contrast on oled tvs is better than mini-led. Brightness is better on mini-led over oled. The future is coming, but it's not here yet so for now we have to decide which technology does it for us as individuals. What floats your boat may make someone else's boat capsize. Just because we like something don't mean that everyone else will like it as well.

I wish some of these videos/reviews would spend more time talking about the best TVs for sports watchers who also watch a lot of Ultra HD movies content. I'm debating whether to get the 77" G4, A95L, or even b9, but the lack of focus on sports in these videos makes it a much harder choice.

How come my phone oled has better motion than tv oleds?
Still get soap opera on Samsung S22U. Unfortunately. And OLED prone to overshooting a lot as well which is not good that makes the motion too artificial and unnatural. LCD has the least overshooting problem. Plasma still the best choice for motion though that can't be beaten. I know the motion on LCD is not good as OLED but less overshooting is much better and more smooth motion and less stuttering. I prefer LCD over OLED any days for this technology available nowadays. Most gaming monitor including LCD already hit at 540 mark well ahead of OLED. So LCD been around much longer than OLED and has mature well. Fyi I tried out A80K one time and it was the worst ever in motion, awful. I returned it as Sony supporter online declared defective on my panel after I show them sample of problems. Not good. Sony was happy to help return product if it is a problem they are really helpful. The older X900H I still have, no problem so far. And have LG QNED91 and is going well but with exception of DSE of course.
Who wants to sit in the dark all day? OLEDS look good in a cupboard and make a great mirror during the day.

Got my 77inch c1 up for sale at the moment and my next tv will 💯 % be mini led ( probably sony) 1 thing that hardly gets mentioned is abl . Give me a bit blooming over abl ( asbl) any day.

I have realized, because I was on B9 hype train as well, if I wanted flat picture I would rather spend money on big screen that OLEDs doesn’t provide like 98” top TCL which still is brighter more zones and even if it fella short in picture processing will provide better immersion than B9 or OLED. If I want best picture in 77” then OLED is the only way. B9 fails on price and picture against competition.
Just my personal opinion and taste but I’ve never come across a LCD based TV that I’ve loved since their inception. Been installing TVs for 25 years and originally it was CRT and rear pro.
Used to install the early sharp LCDs.
Installed many Samsung, LG, Sony TVs in the last 20 years and OLED based TVs are still what I prefer. I currently use a Samsung 55QN95B as my computer monitor as it’s more suited to that for office use. OLED is what I use in my movie/TV viewing room.
