Love OLED’s perfect blacks, but the Bravia 9 is a monster. For reference my Switch looks far more vibrant on the B9 and brighter than the C3… and the brightness is only at 10/50 for the B9… it is that bright.
Thanks so much for the review. This IS the one we've been waiting for! Hopefully black friday/super bowl sales will discount it pretty hard. I definitely won't be connecting this to the internet if a TV this crazy expensive has unavoidable ads, just crazy.
I purchased the 75" B9 and I'm quite simply blown away, after coming from the Samsung 65" QN95A. The picture clarity, motion, colours and local dimming are outstanding, but what surprised me the most was the audio, it's waaay better than any TV I've ever owned or heard. It's pricey, but I don't regret a penny of it.
Oh and as for screen uniformity, my 75 inch panel is near perfect, except for that old Sony trait of ever so slightly dimmer corners, which you really have to look for. Thanks for the review👍🏼
They always do that, they make 65in with Chinese panels to force you to get 75/85in models
@@rsr789 sonys been doing this for years, but technically they make 65in cheaper and worse panels, forcing people to get 75/85in models.

Great as always
Thank.
Then you’re getting some wrong information bro. Always do your own research from multiple sources.
FINALLY saw the 85" Bravia 9 in person at a local Best Buy and it didn't disappoint! Sooo incredibly immersive..vivid..bright in the right areas (specular HDR highlights)... incredible oled-like blacks...etc. The Bravia 8 & A95L were positioned directly next to it and the B9 looked better "to me" than those...A great bargain @ $4,799...
Same. I know the A95L has a wider range of colors, but based on the Sony demos, you couldn't tell. What you could tell is that the Bravia 9 is an insanely good TV.
Thanks for the review Abby. Just got my 85 inch of this tv delivered yesterday and put on the wall. Still getting into settings and more, So far so good .
Excellent review!
@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY Common Brian, do you actually think this review justifies the capability of Bravia 9? I'm guessing you probably be like 🤦♂️ while writing this comment. 😁
It's nice to see that you are doing reviews of recently released TVs on CZcams! Smaller sizes than I would be interested in but I can understand cost concerns. Anywho, I didn't hear you mention that the Bravia 9 has a "center channel" input that can be used with Sony Soundbars. Also it might be useful to Joe Sixpack if you mentioned what picture mode was found to be the most accurate for general content.. Keep up the good work .

Got my 85” Bravia 9 on the 11th and I love this thing. I’m constantly in awe of everything I’m watching. The brightness, blacks, and colors are amazing. I haven’t had any issues with settings and whatnot thankfully either
Hello there, i have one query please. Few people complaining about auto local dimmimg. So is it software issue which can go away with software update? Settings issue and can be quickly resolved? Or you are also facing /not facing this issue.
@@michael-4k4000 it’s fantastic tbh. Everything I’ve watched and played has been great. Some calibration and you’re golden with this tv. One thing I’ll add is how impressive the tvs speaker are. I never use my TVs speaker unless I’m watching a CZcams video and it’s surprising how good it sounds
@@gauravgoel8092 the TV downloaded and installed an update on day one while I was navigating through the settings. It was able to do that without shutting the tv off for a restart.
I haven’t noticed any issues with auto local dimming. I had the tv calibrated right away. I forgot what it’s set to (low/med/high) but it is on. I can speak for any units being defective but it’s not based off new tech so I don’t think there should be any concern about that. It could just be that some people pick a setting and leave it at that without going through each setting to have the best possible picture
Fantastic real world review, delivered without the mumbo-jumbo. Well done and thank you! It's the TV of choice, but as you say, the Hisense is worth a look...
Seems like a great TV, I dislike the aggressive dimming* on my oleds so look forward to trying this.
Yeh I notice my Sony a90j OLED dim in brightness while watching content with logos on the screen
Amazing review. I'm in the market for a year or 2. I wonder what they will come out next year! Thank you!
Great! I have the A90J 65" and 55" - they're both perfect for gaming on Xbox Series X and PS5 !
Being a sports fan! I worry about panel lottery with that DSE
I'm looking to buy the 85" version, the increased number of dimming zones is claimed to reduce blooming to next-to nothing. Now I only need a sturdier table to place this thing on!
@@hastensavoir7782 Viewing angles are better on larger screen sizes for QLED televisions.
@@hastensavoir7782 Not an issue, my seating arrangements are rather limited and no one would ever sit off-angle against the screen. I know OLEDs have superior viewing angles, I suppose that's what you're trying to teach me?

Why not an OLED TV? Will you use it in bright rooms or a lot of uneven content?
When will you do the Bravia 8 ? Is it a great TV or good. I’m in the market for a new TV.
Excellent video, if I could offer one critique though.... I don't recall you showing us the settings menu at any point. Someone less familiar with Sony TVs wouldn't know what to expect and would probably like to see that.

I love displays! And Abby is the best \o/
Amazing review as always! Just curious to know how the Bravia 9 fares against Sony's own X95L.
On paper the Bravia 9 has twice as many zones, giving better contrast and gets quite a bit brighter. It also tracks the EOTF quite a bit more accurately since it seems the X95L makes content a bit too dark than intended.
It's not really the no of zones which matters here ... the new "Backlight Master Drive" they set up just outperforms any other backlight to date.
Nevertheless it's still an lcd tv with all it's technology driven drawbacks ... but a great one ;-)
From what I saw and heard so far ... the new Bravia 7 (also equipped with a "Backlight Master Drive") is roughly on par with last years X95L...
So, more or less: A95L > Bravia 9 > X95L = Bravia 7
Nice seeing LED still progressing. I still use OLED since I game, but love the longevity of LED. Hope to make the switch someday.
Micro leds are apparently supposed to be better than OLEDs whenever they become reasonably accessible to the public
The local dimming is mega impressive but the grey uniformity issues on a tv this expensive is not acceptable imo.
Last year, the 85-inch and 75-inch versions of the X95L model had different display panels, with the 85-inch version having a better panel. Therefore, if you bought the 65-inch or 75-inch X95L, you got a lower-quality panel compared to the 85-inch. How are things this year with the Bravia 9 (XR90)? Does the display quality vary depending on the display size? Are there any differences in sound or other features based on the display size?
❤❤❤ love your review. It's good to know. Your comparison are good too. Keep up the good work ❤❤🎉🎉. Will you be reviewing TCL 115inch ?
Coming from a 2017 Samsung 60" LCD, I only stream, sports and Blu-ray, NO GAMING and In the tropics with five 5' windows in living room. I also don't watch TV in the dark - minimum is with ambient light. My room size is 13' x 13 - no off angle issues expected. I will be buying the 85'' Sony Bravia 9. This choice is based on prioritising my "Use Case". Kudos to FOMO and Brian.
is there a way to hide the cables when mounting the TV (LG-)flush to the wall? are there connected channels or do you always end up with power and hdmi etc. on separate locations?
Was hoping this review would address the BFI mode causing blurry, image duplication on the Bravia 9.
Go Blue! I was there. Greatest Michigan Team of all time!!!!! 💪🏻
When opening a menu LD is disabled. Sony does that. It's a non-issue because who watches content with menus open. Do what you nee to do in menu, turn it off and go and watch the content the LD is fully back on immediately.
I don't notice any smearing or issues. But I am used to LCD. It's just fast and smooth to me in gaming. No complaints there.
Movie watching is awesome with HDR. Dolby vision works really well, which is not common with Sony that struggles normally with DV. I like DV Bright.

R u guys gonna review the tcl Qm851g and tcl Qm751g?
Those rainbow reflections are one of the main reasons I've enjoyed so much switching from LED to QD-OLED. Had a mini LED with the same rainbow reflections. Would happen even from lighting off to the side of the TV. With the OLED, no such issue. As much as people claim LEDs to be great in bright lighting, I found myself always waiting til nightfall to use that TV. I use this OLED any time of day and it looks better
@rah113 Yes it does lol. Any LCD with any sort of wide angle viewing filter (which the X95K does have) exhibits that issue. Just google "Sony X95K reflections" and you'll see numerous reddit posts about it. And rtings shows it in their review.
I wish they put a g4 there instead of a95l, especially for gamers.
The g4 is the clear choice at these prices. There is just no reason to get an led with only 2 hdmi 2.1 ports when the g4 is super bright and does 4k144hz with processing that's just as good
That's only true if you're spending most of your time gaming. Sports, live television and 24 fps content aren't going to look as good on any OLED.
The G4 is also a heck of a lot more expensive. Especially at the 80" models. The B9 is what? $4,800 and the G4 is at an eye-watering $6,500.... The G4 does reign supreme for games but IMO is not at all worth the $1,700 price difference.
@bleachedwhale I don't get why people say this. A calibrated g4 will be at..what..a brightness level of 13? Sdr is suppose to be 100 nits and you really think something is going to look better than oled? Oled offers a LOT more than just gaming performance. There is not one category in which the bravis 9 beats the g4, or even a95l. Movies are 1000 nits and don't go beyond p3 bit you think an led with local dimming is going to be better than an oled...that's insane. A 1500 nit oled removes the relevancy of any led unless you're looking to go big or save money.
Nature DOG-umentary :D I need this one :D

What‘s about TCL QM851G ?
2:57 I think you're way too kind about these kinds of bugs. Tv manufacturers seem to have completely forgotten how to make decent firmware. When we got our LG C3 in january I almost immediately noticed about five or six bugs that I had never seen reported in any review, because owners spend much more time with one particular model of tv than reviewers do. Obviously the bug reports for LG are so convoluted that I'm still in the process of reporting them. This is far from unique to LG. I've had similar experiences with Samsung and Philips and I've heard Sony isn't much better. Tv manufacturers deserve all the crap they can get from reviewers about bugs, because at least that might cause them to try their best to solve them for a change.
@@TonyDAngelo-ot7ny Yeah, on the Samsung S95C bugged firmware even caused the tv to "forget" to run its compensation cycles, causing burn-in to appear much more quickly than it would've done otherwise. That's a serious flaw that should've been corrected way before launch. At the worst it should've been a day 1 patch, to make sure consumers weren't affected. Instead, the tv had been on the market for over 6 months before it was fixed. We're basically paying tv manufacturers to become their beta testers at this point.
Merry Christmas

only a 75inc in the uk for the cheap cheap price of £4499. mad price
Does local dimming work in Game Mode and does it affect response time?
Local dimming in gaming mode is the equivalent of medium in non gaming mode. Picture will look more washed in gaming mode!
None of the reviewers talk about this of course. They also don't talk about audio cutout and intermitent black screens with VRR enabled when connected via HDMI to Nvidia GPUS. This might have been fixed on the new Bravia 9 but I doubt it, as it is present on multiple older gen SONY LEDs and still not fixed on the older sets. The only workaround is not using VRR, then the intermitent screen going black randomly will go away. Not to be confused with the VRR flicker which is present on all TV's, OLED or led doesn't matter. This is why most people turn on VRR. It can also happen with Xbox consoles via HDMI in VRR ofc, both flicker and intermitent random black screens. PS5 work fine.
According to a lot of People on the AVS forum the VRR and dimming works great on the B9
Watching on 75 inch B9
Sadly it comes only in panel sizes that are too large for me, the price is also OTT
With only two 2.1 HDMI ports this is also not good at this price level.

Nice review dear
Exaggeration of the off angle response of this TV which is absolutely the best non-OLED TV ever. It was stated that the brightness degrades at 45 degrees off, however all TVs brightness degrades at angle >45, it’s physics. And brightness degradation on a very bright TV is not really a negative. The real question should be about image color degradation or accuracy and that’s where this Sony excels. I saw the comparison of the A95L to the Bravia 9, and I saw the QD-OLED not able to represent well objects which were not bright separated by objects much brighter. The Bravia 9 however made the dimmer objects visible and more resolved. Also, the Bravia 9 is designed to work well with content mastered to 4000 nits peak brightness and since this review didn’t test that superlative capability, the review doesn’t really accurately support the value of this TV. And don’t argue that content isn’t out yet. Well yes, but the mastering capability was just recently upgraded.
Given that (besides renting a Nvidia Pulsar) there is only one professional monitor available being capable of 4,000 nits (the Sony BVM-HX3110) ... I very much doubt the studios have switched to 4,000 nits mastering ... or will do so soon...
@@marcuscole8796 Why not? With Dolby vision metadata indicating the HDR level, the movies can be mastered with different nit levels. It’s just that Samsung may need to rethink their lack of support for Dolby Vision.
@@Radarcb329 That's not how colorists are working ... they are working (mainly with still pictures) with the original material and absolute values for colors and brightnesses ... anything else is just guessing ... and nothing the professionals (the studios) are able to use due to their work needs to be traceable, replicable and the results must match/fit perfectly to those of their co-workers which are working on the identical movie in parallel.
Standards is the magic word here ;-)
There is no mention of the key upgrades. Here is the list of what she missed.
1) XR Backlight Master Drive
2) XR High Peak Luminance (both used in Mastering monitors)
3) New worlds smallest LED driver (small as a sesame seed)
4) Frame tweeters + Beam tweeters. And only TV with up firing speaker.
5) XR contrast Booster 30 (X95L had 20 and X90L has 10)
6) Playstation remote play features
7) Studio Calibrated modes.

After 30 days of procrastinating and talking myself out of oled, I finally ordered the 75 inch Bravia 9 last night.
I have a C1, it is perfectly despite the years and gaming (except for the horrendous default color accuracy).
I also have a cellphone with a woled. The phone isn't a happy tale tho, it is severely burned
Hisense UX is not close to Bravia 9 in performance. That is a wrong take. The processing isn't as good even in the slightest and neither is the dimming zone control and so on.
HiSense really likes the 'throw more zones and brightness at it' way of doing things
Unfortunately the A95L isn’t available in a size over 77”.
It’s either a LG G4 or the B9 at 83” and 85”. I’ll never trust hisense or tcl with their crappy quality control. They’ve always died around the 3 year mark for me
I wasn't impressed with the B7. Ended up returning it and shelling out the extra 1k for the G4.
@@kymyst18tabout to return my b7 as well. I’d go g4 but I play a ton of Diablo 4… probably the least friendly game for oled burn in.
@@Voce24 valid concern. What attracted me to to OLED is the wide viewing angles. This TV is wall mounted in my living room on a wall nearly 30ft long. I have seating to view the TV straight on, as well as sofas that are perpendicular to the TV wall which can create viewing angles that are not ideal. The B7 image was completely washed out from the side seating, which in hindsight should have been expected, so I can't knock it for that. The major disappointment, however, was that I didn't find the picture quality all that impressive even in ideal seating. I wanted to like it. Also thought about the B9 since the price point is so similar to the G4. For my situation it just made more sense to take advantage the OLED wide viewing angle, which is really incredible btw.
Listing the HDMI 2.1 eARC port as a negative isn't accurate for every use case- I have an AVR with HDMI 2.1 switching, and while I would rather have four 2.1 ports on the TV, in my situation it's no big deal because the AVR is handling most of my inputs anyway.
That's pretty true for AVR owners :-) ... nevertheless ... after HDMI 2.1 was released in 2017 and implemented first in 2019 (LG C9) ... after these 5 years every highend and expensive tv should offer ALL ports capable of this state-of-the-art technology. Regarding the Bravia 9 price point RTINGS critic seems to be quite just tho.
But yes ... practically seen, many people do not need all the HDMI 2.1 capabilities ... WHAT would be helpful: tvs with only two HDMI 2.1-ports should use one of the HDMI 2.0-ports for their eARC-connection ... leaving THEN two HDMI 2.1-ports which would cover most requirements :-)
@@marcuscole8796Again, I would rather Sony have switched their suppliers to gain four (or more) 2.1 HDMI ports, but- if you're using a newer AVR with 4k/120 hrz+ support to switch your inputs, having eARC on one of the 2.0 ports is a major detriment, so I'm very glad this TV doesn't have that configuration.
@@bleachedwhale Unfortunately the most powerful SOC (besides LG's and Samsung's ofc) is the MediaTek Pentonic ... and this chip offers 2 of the fast ports only ... so, Sony basically doesn't have a choice because LG and Samsung won't sell them to Sony.
Because eARC doesn't require the higher bandwidth of HDMI 2.1 there actually is no drawback at all by implementing eARC on one of the 2.0 ports ... many 2.0 ports today are a mixture of 2.0 and 2.1 ... very often lacking the high bandwidth only.
I very often saw such 2.0 ports being communicated as 2.1 recently although they were lacking full bandwidth ... this seems to be allowed by the HDMI Association ... which as a customer I feel being somewhat disturbing and misleading.
@@marcuscole8796 Sony has much more leverage to gain high end features from its suppliers, and to reverse engineer competing tech from alt suppliers than you're giving them credit. The real reason they haven't adopted four 2.1 HDMI inputs is purely cost. They are still under contract with their current supplier for a set price, and although they could launch new product with an alternate supplier at will, the ramp up and engineering will be expensive at scale. That's understandable, and I don't begrudge them that point. I just wish they had made the switch on this generation rather than on a later one. It practically reeks of FOMO for high end non-brand loyalists. Regarding your thoughts about eARC compatibility on some HDMI 2.0 eARC TV inputs- HDMI version 2.1 is not a strict requirement for eARC, but eARC was introduced as being one of the aspects that would be included with HDMI version 2.1. If you hook your 8k 60/HDMI 2.1 equipped AVR into a 2.0 HDMI port on a TV, you're not going to be able to view 4k120/8k60 content on your TV coming from any source on the AVR. This is the whole point of having eARC on an HDMI 2.1 port, to gain both the functionality of eARC and high bitrate passthrough, which is important for gamers and those who wish to have a better browsing experience on PC. That may not be the majority of users, but it should definitely take priority over cost on a flagship television on a premium brand like Sony.
@@marcuscole8796 The reason Sony hasn't switched to newer HDMI chipset/switches is entirely down to cost. They are likely still under contract with their current supplier, and although they could be reverse engineering a new 4x 2.1 HDMI board right now, the production cost to scale up for retail will also likely be too high to justify launching it on a single product line for now. I don't begrudge them that, however- I do wish they would push this change forward some, as the competition is overtaking them in the high end space, especially on image processing. As far as your thoughts on eARC on HDMI 2.0, it will work fine with all the audio formats and have the same fidelity, but you will lose the capability to pass through a 4k120/8k60 signal, which is important for next gen gaming. This is why hooking an external 2.1 HDMI switcher/AVR into a 2.0 HDMI eARC TV port kneecaps your television's 120hz VRR capability.
I don’t think the “QLED” description is the more suitable for the title…the main feature is “MiniLed” as its the best implementation so far…and being Sony’s 2024 Flagship implies that it has QuantumDot technology built in…there are almost no MiniLed TVs without QD color conversion layer…
He reminds me of skrillex If she were to work at Best Buy.
two years , i except this tv technology be the best if nothing revolutionary happened in OLED tv manufacturing .
So the UX is almost as good as the Bravia 9 according to her. It's on sale for $2,499.... I'm gonna order but please, clarification on this.
Sounds like QD-OLED A95L is a better choice.
I knew Sony would deliver regardless. Expensive now though, haha. I already got a C4 as a PC monitor. That 'green tint' people talk about on the C4 can be gotten rid of if one knows how to calibrate, and reviewers usually don't have time for that when they review. Most viewers who 'depend' on what reviewers say usually don't know how to calibrate either (tsk tsk). Unfortunately for LG, their image processing isn't as precise as Sony or Samsung...but once it's well calibrated, it looks as good as any of 'em. The differences are minimal at worst. Sony's still my personal fave, but they take too long to release their new models. I owned a Samsung last time, so I wanted to try something else. Sorry, Sony. You guys took too long again. Maybe next time.
Hi Everyone !
After the A95K and A95L this is kind of disappointing... If brightness isn't everything for you, this seems like a bad deal?
She’s reviewing the wrong TV. 75 and 85 are completely different models compared to the 65 inches shown in this video.
Why do Santa Abby’s reviews always make me smile?
