    Amazing video. I love the fact the captain, who is clearly more experienced than the first officer is asking the FO his opinion of his actions. Rewind 25-30yrs and this would have never happened. Perfect CRM in action here. Great stuff!

    I live near Salzburg (near one of the lakes which you could see from the left window) and I can see all planes on the ILS15 till 3 miles prior to touchdown. Thanks for shareing approaches! I really like your Videos and I can't wait for many more in the future!

    Dudes, the PFD and MFD are crucial to these videos. It looks so weird not having them there. The information is invaluable. I love this channel.
    Edit: Also the end of the video where you share the ATIS and all the charts was missed as well. (I did the original comment in the beginning). The alps are very imposing even at that distance.
    Cheers from Scotland.

      Thanks for watching and your very helpful feedback! I fully agree to your statement! I like the new format of my videos very much: With PFD/ND and whenever possile also with charts and ATIS at the end. Many greetings to Scotland!

    Fand es auf interessant mit der Aufmerksamkeit auf VFR Traffic auf Grund der lokalen Situation in Salzburg

      Vielen Dank fürs gute Feedback und das Lob fürs CRM! Bei dem schönen Wetter muss man natürlich mit starkem Verkehr von kleinen Flugzeugen, die nach Sichtflugregeln (VFR) fliegen, rechnen.

    Nice steady approach - very well managed ! The mountatins at Salzberg look quite high once you are on the ground and looking up at them. I guess with low ceilings and windy days this doesnt seem quite so easy !

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  Před rokem

      Thanks for your feedback! Yes, the mountains look really high, especially if you watch them from the ground. We got special training for the airport. This enables approaching the airport to runway 15 even during times with low ceilings. The special part here is the possible go around with a procedure that keeps us well clear of the mountains. For the same reason, the approach to runway 15 has also special wind limits.

    I love your videos.
    What dows it mean when auto pilot says minimun shortly before landing, and Captain replys Continue?

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  Před rokem +3

      Thanks for watching and your feedback! The aviation authorities publish on the approach charts a minimum altitude to which we are allowed to descent to during the approach with only reference to instruments. When we are reaching this altitude and want to continue for a landing, we have to see enough to be able to make a safe landing even without instrument guidance. When reaching this altitude, the pilot flying calls out "Continue" to confirm that he or she is able to see enough for a safe landing. The other answer to the minimum callout would be "Go Around, Flaps" to indicate that she or he is not able to continue for a landing. In this case, the approach would be discontinued and a pre defined missed approach procedure has to be flown.

    Again a nice appr. landing on rwy 33 must be very exiting ?

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  Před rokem

      Thanks for watching! Yes, approaching runway 33 is very exiting due to the mountains and the low altitude maneuvering to the runway. We use runway 15, which has an instrument landing system, as long as the tailwind or the crosswind is not too much. I did a few landings on runway 33, but its rare.
