Captain the way you said Spoiler Reverse Greeeeennn at 23:14 got a smile on my face! Nice approach!
Thanks for watching and your good feedback!
Thank you Captain.
Thanks for watching! Have a nice weekend!
Fantastic as always. With a mother from Berlin, as a child travelled there many times and hearing Tempelhof reminds me of great plane spotting in the Cold War era with Berlin divided and only British Airways and Pan American allowed to fly in. Also, for anyone visiting Berlin do go on the Templehof airport Tour. Well worth it!!
Keith, thanks a lot for watching, supporting the channel and for your very personal feedback! When I am next in Berlin for more than a few minutes, I will follow your suggestion to do the Tempelhof tour. Have a great day!
Sehr schön. Der Samstag ist gerettet ❤🎉😊
Das freut mich! Vielen Dank fürs Anschauen!
As usuall outstanding approach Captain sir🥰😍...............Salute sir👨✈✈🛬

Thanks for the great video. Excellent work. Could you show us de-icing procedures if possible? Have a nice sunday
Thanks for watching and your great feedback! I never recorded the de-icing procedures. But if it happens that we have to deice next, I will try to record it. Have a nice day!
Again Sir, a great video by you and the F/O as usual. I have a unrelated question, if I might ask please? At an airport that you have to 'backtrack' along an active RWY to get to your departure point, does the taxi speed apply (16 to 19 knots typically) have to be adhered to on the active RWY as there should not be any other 'traffic' on the RWY, or is it left to the pilot flying's discretion dependant on the backtrack length. Many thanks for your great video's! Regards Clive
Thank you very much for watching, your good feedback and your support of the channel! We do not want to taxi faster than 30 knots when taxiing straight. It does not matter if the taxiing is done on a designated taxiway or on the runway when performing a backtrack. We only want to be faster if we accelerate for the takeoff or decelerate during the landing. Very often, we taxi much slower than 30 knots if the taxiway is slippery, icy or so and - for sure - if the traffic situation does not allow a faster taxi speed. Please watch this video: czcams.com/video/RB1qnfCnRCo/video.html
Due to the possible slippery taxiways we taxi very very slow.
Wieder aus meiner Heimat, toll ☺️
Herzlichen Dank fürs Anschauen und viele Grüße nach Berlin!
Great video, when you studied the a319/20/21 did you need to know all about the electrical, hydraulic systems in depth?
Thanks for the good feedback! Yes, when you do the typerating and even later as a pilot you need to have a good knowledge of the systems and how they interact.
Very interesting as usual, two questions if you have the time to answer. I noticed you have the timer running, what's the purpose of that? Also, how do you decide to use only engine anti ice or also wing anti ice?
For the 737 at least, eng anti ice when TAT 10 deg or less and in clouds or moisture, wing anti ice when visible signs of icing on surfaces (like windshield, wiper blades, and also wings (hence there is a wing light to see the leading edge in the dark).
Thanks for watching and your question! The information - which is stated here - from the Boeing 737 is also correct for the Airbus. We fly in the same icing conditions. In regard to the wing anti ice system: The Airbus has a small lighted pin outside of the cockpit. This pin is the ice indicator. If we see ice build up on this dark painted pin, we switch on the wing anti ice system. There is also the possibility to buy an electronic ice indicator, installed from the Airbus factory. Then the crew gets an ECAM message showing that ice is building up and the anti ice system shall be switched on.
Nice landing. The wind seemed to be a little tricky. I'd like to see the overhead panel set up from cold and dark as well as the EFB.
Thanks for watching and your feedback! Yes, the wind was tricky and changing during the approach. Thanks also for the suggestion about the overhead panel and the video from cold and dark. I am very limited about the camera positions in the cockpit, but I see what I can do in the future. During the flight, there is not so much happening on the overhead panel. We use it for switching the lights on and off and for anti ice on and off. Yes, also the APU related switches are on the overhead panel.
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos I'm an aviation enthusiast who has Microsoft flight simulator and the A320 from Fenix simulations. What I'm interested in is recreating real world procedures in the simulator The Fenix simulation is about as close to the real thing on the market.
Impressive how it still accelerates on idle single engine taxi.
Thanks for watching and for sharing your observation!
Was genau verstehst Du unter Overheadview?
geil
Vielen Dank fürs Anschauen!
This was the approach I was supposed to do last night in the sim, but it crashed (the sim, not me!) on descent into Brandenburg. Very frustrating! 🙄
Thanks for watching and for sharing your personal experience! As long as it is only the simulator which has problems it is much better than problems with a real airplane! I hope you have your simulator fixed, in between. I wish you lots of fun with your simulator!
Any pro's have an answer? The FMS displayed a point, 'BSW12' before 'XANIM'. Seems 'BSW' is the identifier for ILS25L and I guess '12' is the distance. However it's not on the chart. I don't think I have ever noticed this before on any other approach videos here. Is it just a Berlin EDDB airport concept?
Good question, BSW12 isn't part of the flight plan, my guess is it’s a 12nm extend centre line added manually, maybe it always shows the end of the line with the distance? Would need to try it in the sim.
oh and i thought this waypoint was referring to the headquarters of an upcoming new german party.... ;)
As far as I remember, we did not generate the waypoint in the cockpit. I assume that this waypoint is a waypoint which was created by the database provider as an additional waypoint, for a more smooth lineup to the localizer of the runway.
What is the QNH? why does it change at certain points
It's the barometric pressure. It helps the aircraft know the air pressure for landing and the altitude above the airport.
It changes as the weather changes, if the aircraft doesn't have the correct QNH, it will read the wrong altitude. Recently there was a close call, just google "Paris A320 close call QNH" Mentour Pilot done a video on it I think.
Ohh right. Thanks. Will do👍🏻🤝🏼
If we use QNH, the altimeter shows the airplane altitude above MSL (sea level). We use this altitude during approaches and departures. It depends on the local pressure and varies during the day and from airport to airport. All airplanes use the local QNH when flying at lower altitudes near the airport. When flying at higher altitudes (the Flight levels), we change to a standard altimeter setting (1013.2 hpa or 29.92 inches). This is used by everybody enroute and does not require any change when flying over different airports or so. The standard altimeter setting makes sure that all airplanes that fly for example at FL350 are really at the same altitude. This is important for the separation of the airplanes.
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos oh okay, thanks a lot 😊🤝🏼
20:04 quite windy, 5-10 kt losses and gains
Yes, it was windy with a good amount of changes in wind.
I thought Berlin's Airport was closed, or there's a new one?
New One, Not Tegel anymore, the new One is called Brandenburg Willy Brand (BER/EDDB)
@@schushman274 oh okay, thanks
They closed Berlin Tegel and Berlin Tempelhof. This is the new Berlin Brandenburg International Airport which is about 25 kilometers outside of the Berlin city center. Tempelhof and Tegel were very close to the city center of Berlin. The new airport was constructed at the site of the old Berlin Schönefeld Airport which was the civil main airport for East Berlin.
@@ApproachandDepartureVideos oh okay, thanks 😊
This is true and it is similar in the Swiss and Austria sectors. However, it should be added that for people who do not speak German, the accent is sometimes a problem.
I guess if you were coming in from the opposite direction you could combine landing and a shopping trip to Ikea!!
Good idea. They could have extended the taxiways down to the Ikea store. So we could make another stop at Ikea on the ground.
