some octopuses and cuttlefish can change their skin texture as well as color for camouflage purposes
@@LordEmilous all octopuses can do that, but if you watch videos of when they come out of the water, they all seem to "melt" into a soft texture like this one does. I could be wrong, but I have never seen one keep its camouflage form out of the water.

A lot of fish suck off food from rocks and dirt, and spit out the rocks. It's weird to imagine a human doing so.

It’s weird that in the water the octopus’s skin looks rough and bumpy, but out on land it looks smooth and slimy
My battery is 1% so i'll explain that quickly. The reason for that is because-

There are various varieties of octopus and this one is weirdest on water and land as well
I think most fish, aquatic invetebrae etc have a protective layer of ”slime” as a protective membrane, (a bit like some parts of the human anatomy) and submerged it’s not noticable, but on land it makes them look slick and wetter (by water) than they are. I know various gelbased solutions are used on set to make actors look drenched, spalshing water look more dramatic (think boybands and water lol)
Also Cephalopod often have the ability to change their texture, color and patterns depending on the environment (for stealth) but also on mode (emotion, activity etc). No expert but this is what I’ve gathered thus far on the topic. Cephalopod are amongst the most intelligent animals by the way. Very interesting creatures zoologists have yet much to learn about.
I’ve stopped eating them, though I do love seafood. Become too fascinated and respectful of them. They are an ”alien” intelligence mostly misunderstood by us, right under our nose.

Mike honcho Actually, It’s confirmed that Squidward (as ironic as the name is) is in fact an Octopus. It is said on multiple episodes of the show and even the creator himself claimed Squidward to be an Octopus. One could argue that Octopus have 0 tentacles and 8 arms but take into fact that Squids have two fins on the sides of their mantles while Squidward does not. It is a cartoon after all. Also note the Squid character in the skirt that appears on multiple episodes and has the form of an actual Squid. Looking absolutely nothing like Squidward besides the tentacles.

Baby Dumbo Octopus Yes i figured as much, I just prefer when it's a little more subtle. The over the top effects just takes me out of the video and makes me picture the sound team recording it.

I have been fascinated and amazed by octopuses since I learned how intelligent they are. I am baffled by their short life, it seems that orcas, elephants, and humans all are blessed by high intelligence and long lives, so it seems like octopuses should also have a long life.

I ate one of these when I was in Seoul, Korea. Had I known earlier what amazing little beings they are - I wouldn't have. They are known to be highly intelligent and even show signs of advanced personalities. Their DNA is unlike any other animal on earth. I got my entire forearm tattooed with the image of an octopus - to honor the little fella.
