I usually like Hometalk ideas, but placing the bar as shown in the video, unless it is removed before driving (which should be clrearly said) does not look "brilliant" to me, only extremely dangerous! In case of an accident, you will have a rigid metal bar rigth behing your neck.
Agreed. Extremely bad idea….
To me the bar would be far enough under the headrest that you can't feel it with your neck & you certainly do not want the headrest falling down in an accident. Just my thoughts.
That's good to be thinking of such things,
but this Dollar Tree towel bar is adjustable as two sliding hollow tubes,
so not one solid metal "bar".
Also it's very lightweight material, I'm thinking it would easily bend or breakaway from any point of that much pressure put on it.
It seems one could just use two metal shower curtain rings or carabineers? to clip the pouch holders in place.
I had same thought
@@RLaraMoore I was thinking along those lines, too.
If my headrest were falling down, I think I’d rather use bits of pool noodle to hold it up. I was in a crash, and between the headrest and the air bag, I felt as if my head were being dribbled like a basketball.
Simple green works best on car interior. I work oilfield and when i want to clean my truck, its what i use to get the deep grease and dirt out. It makes it look brand new
My car needs the tlc you demonstrated! Never thought to use a sponge brush for cleaning the car vents! Good idea!
You could use shower rings in place of the towel rack- much safer!
Or a carabiner.
Cable ties, too.
Ur all brilliant! 👍
I appreciate these ideas cause I can’t find the towel bar at ANY of the dollar trees by me!
Much safer!!
Lots of cars have what are called "Active Headrests." There is a pyrotechnic explosive charge attached to the pins within the seat back and they fire at the same time when the airbags are inflated. They forcefully tilt the headrest forward to ensure that your head and neck are cushioned correctly in an impact. It greatly reduces the whiplash that you get. The seatbelts also do this with their explosive pretensioners. TL;DR don't do the bar on the headrest thing. It will impede the operation of this important SRS system and will injure your head and neck.
Not to mention what it ill do to the base of your skull or a vertebrae getting slammed into it. I'm glad I'm not the only one saying something.
This is so awesome what you wrote. I fully agree what you said. I have been a General Motors employee for 18 years at one of the largest dealerships in the Northern Virginia area. I am the only female in my Parts Department and the only one Hazmat Certified. We have had our share of airbag and tensioner recalls along with ignition recalls. It's very good when someone as knowledgeable as yourself can bring awareness to a potential hazard when these videos hive ideas to the public.
I wouldn't do that anyway but THANKS for that info because me and im sure MANY OTHERS did NOT know that. Great information 👍🏽 😃
I so agree. This should be edited out for the sake of driver as well as riders.
I was about to be like plz don’t do this. At least not in the driver seat. Thanks for the explanation.
The music...I can't listen to another second of it.
I muted it
Amen to that. I just watched it on mute.
PLEASE DO NOT do that first "hack"!!! That is a broken neck or cracked skull waiting to happen. If you get in a reck, the last thing you want is your head and neck flying back and hitting a metal bar going across the headrest! There's a reason seats are designed the way they are!
Yeah a string or cord could be used instead of the bar.
I agree.
Actually scents contained in detergents, dryer sheets, etc are not healthy to breathe! They are actually toxic! If you need something in your car to improve the scent use essential oil on paper towels or cheese cloth, healthy alternative. Love Home Talk ideas. Many of these ideas in this video are good.
Sunscreen too
@@maria4u2love Absolutely! Thanks for sharing. People need to know this!
Wow! She’s a professional detailer 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I think you should rinse the dish soap spray cleaner on the fabric as soap attracts dirt.
EXACTLY! Came here to say that! It will be dirtier than when you first cleaned. It gets grounded into the fibers of the car mat and seat and will eventually weaken the fibers. Not good at all!! The baking soda will not only absorb odors, it will also clean the carpet and seats, make a paste with water, let sit on stains, plus! it can be vacuumed. Much better than using soap.
Car care at it's best! Reminds me to get busy on mine! 😂
Yes, sooo clever! But how about a Bungie cord in place of the
metal bar?! Bungie cords are always multiple-use items on any road-trip.
Thank you everyone!
If you really want to hang a shoe-rack or whatever that is on your back seat, just use a couple zip ties or a string to hold it to the headrest. Why a towel bar?
Also, the cupcake wrappers are more than a little insane for me 🤣
The cupcake wrappers are brilliant imo. It's easier to get the little whatever's out of the cup holder. My drinks would crush it but I think it's more for the little dry items.
@@dmills7080 use silicone instead of paper
Use silicone instead of paper cupcake liners.
@@donnabacon4681 good idea.
I'm so glad you are showing this.
Cars are made to clean up Easy but, most people don't know it.
I rented a car for 2 months and it was a mess. I had to return it next day so I made an appointment for Cleaning it they wanted $180. I went to Dollar Tree and figured it wouldn't work but, maybe I'd save a little if less dirty.
Well I was A-M-A-Z-E-D! ALL was wiped down with their AWESOME spray and glass with Spray foam and newspaper. The seats and ceilings I used laundry detergent diluted with vinegar added. It left them looking like new, smelled so clean and dried really fast( if you don't soak. Try hair dryer if too wet.)
I did the floor mats like you did and was so impressed it took off all the summer mud I caked on and grease from spilled food. That alone they wanted $40!
I did pay for the Works wash n Shine for outside so total I paid under$30 and still have rags, buckets and cleaner for next trip!
BTW your rack tip is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G I just would hook it behind headrest for safety and use metal rings or magnets to hold it and your vent cleaning idea GENIUS! TYSM
I know what you mean! Some people just throw wrappers and even leftover food all over their car! And that’s their OWN car even….
I’ve seen pictures of how rental cars are brought sometimes… completely disgusting!
That’s where that ridiculous amount comes from!!
The sad thing about a filthy rental car is that when it is returned a mess, you are charged a cleaning fee. Apparently, they don't always take that money and use it to clean the car. There are some good tips on here, but what's up with the sponges on the snow shovel? If they are for padding or to keep your bare hands from getting cold, why not just wear a pair of gloves instead of wasting sponges? Didn't follow on that one.
Would you tell me what the spray ingredient added after the Dawn was? All I could see was 3X. Thanks in advance and cheers!
I am so grateful for my mute button. I had a bug fly in my ear once. It kept trying to fly out , but it didn't work. I thought I would go CRAZY while that thing was in my ear, it felt like it was as big around as my big toe. If I had a choice to either have bugs put in my ears or listen to that awful music, I would choose the bugs.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I always mute videos that have music....
It is a horrific choice for video music - what the devil were they thinking?!/
I liked the music...
I almost ruined my vacuum with baking soda...it got into the machine everywhere! What a mess!!!
Towel bar should only be used where it won't hurt a passenger or driver.
There were some great ideas in this! There were some bad too tho. Bar behind your neck and storing plastic water bottles in your car are just a couple. You should think things through before doing some of these things shown in this video.
😅 You’re kind of mean
@@maria4u2love not mean. There are cancer causing chemicals in some plastics. BPA's. They're known to be in water bottles. And when you leave water bottles in your car and they get hot they are released into the water. So you shouldn't drink water out of plastic containers (unless clearly marked "BPA FREE") after they've been left out in your car. And as for the bar behind the neck... I was a firefighter. I've seen some insane things. And a driving with bars placed behind your neck is just asking for trouble. I once responded to a MVA and a woman had been stabbed impaled by a pole she had in her back seat. Crazy things can happen when hit just right.
@@maria4u2love - Why do you say melissabean9747 is mean? She stated an obvious observation.
That towel bar will hurt in an accident 😢
Instead of the towel holder, surely something like some paracord to wrap around the headrest to hang the organizer plus a short skinny plastic conduit to keep the organizer from folding on itself would do the trick and also be safer for the driver
The video is informative but that music made me leave early;
Just turn the volume down. I always watch their non-talking videos on mute.
Any where I have any oil stain I always sprinkle chalk on it first, it absorbs so much and cleans easier.
Do u crush chalk or does it come powdered?
@@barrez9307 it does come in powder form, like for gymnastics, baseball, et. al. Amazon and sporting goods stores carry powdered chalk.
Excellent tip Kelley!
Cheap clay kitty litter works really well, too.
If you use the first idea 💡 make sure to be careful with the towel bars as they can be sharp! I speak from experience... 😳 😬 Yikes, it was like a big paper cut! Tip: Maybe wrap some masking tape around the sharp parts where they hook on to the cupboard or in this case, the car seat.
I love the fact that you've come up with another way to use the towel bars because my cupboards are the wrong width to use them as intended but they are nice & sturdy!
I used an old leather purse strap to hold a behind the seat organizer.
Do not put any towel bar behind your neck in a vehicle of any kind, ever. On impact that bar is going to break your neck.
I am not sure about the first idea with the over the cabinet bar. If in even a smaller accident your neck would hit the bar not the cushioned head rest.
Good tips. But it could have been cut in half to save us time if we didn’t have to watch several minutes of vacuuming and cleaning. We got the point with just a few seconds. Just feedback for future, my .02 only
100%
What did you use the WD40 to clean?
Don’t try the w-40 on the car lights it will clean them but over time it will make small cracks all over them talking by experience!!
Hate the music! Had to turn off the sound.
Contrary to popular belief, toothpaste does not work on headlights!
Works on mine 🤷🏼♂️
Didn't on mine
@@405Lenny Not mine. Maybe it is the degree of the problem too. It was only $35 to get them professionally done and worth the money.
The micro-abrasive in toothpaste (usually baking soda) also removes the thin plastic coating that actually protects your headlights. If your headlights need cleaning, just get them done professionally. It's not that expensive.
Thank you great tips for cleaning the car 🙏❤️
I’m just curious…why would you label something “car” if it’s in your car? 🧐
Except the towel bar, others r great car cleaning hacks! I’m going to make sure the guy who details my car sees it. 😊
That toothpaste idea does not always work.
Fluoride so bad for us it’s poison
Try Mother's Mag and Aluminum Polish (purchased through WalMart). A saw this on CZcams and I apologize as I cannot remember who, so therefore, I cannot give credit to this gentleman.
This works fantastic! I think the content creator in this video did not have much haze on her car lamp covers, so it was fine for her; maybe if a car is new(er) then toothpaste may be good to stop the haze from forming. But for the rest of us, Mother's works miracles!!
your headlamps were already clean and in good condition, takes a lot more than toothpaste to clean oxidized headlamps on a car., trust me.
I like all the ideas you sharef👍🤗☺
Love the car care idea's 💚
Don’t spray detergent on your seats! You can’t rinse it out and the soap will attract dirt. It’s fine on the carpets, as long as you rinse them thoroughly and let them dry before putting them back in.
I can’t help shaking my head about using WD-40 to clean and then letting it run down onto the paint. That stuff will eat through the finish allowing an opening for the rust devil. It’s possible that they IMMEDIATELY washed the area but it wasn’t shown.
Yes! Learn a lot of ideals. Tfs
You'll never catch me using WD40 on any of my vehicle's windshields! Bcuz I'm not gonna deal w/the oily-type residue & sheen it leaves behind that's hard to get clean & glare free. the window will have a glare that's just smudgy almost & is very noticeable at night when on coming vehicle's lights are on. I think it's a bad idea to use it.
Enjoyed from Texas!
Can you please list all the products used? Thank you
The toothpaste doesn’t really do anything. Also, what is on the microfiber cloths that they keep showing it?
Great car cleaning!!. I'm going to try the garbage and the cabinet hook. Thanks!
Do not use the bar for hanging anything from the headrest; use zip ties or carbiners or even a Bungie cord; the bar is metal and if in an accident, could cause a severe injury. The metal bar could end up in your neck! Only use if not in motion, say for camping or an overnight stay in a rest area.
This is so great for me
Dadgum, make your car look like a Turkish Taxi sitting in the outdoor market of Istanbul 😊😂
DAWN the miracle soap
Great ideas, thank you
Please make sure to only use biodegradable soap outside. It's better to not use any at all, but if you have to, biodegradable soap only please. It will say it on the label.
Brilliant!!!
Why I can't everrrr find those at my dollar three uuuggh
Use a circular sander without the paper to use gyrations to get dirt from yhe carpet.
Giant metal bar behind your head driving…. Not smart
Wow awesome!
Awesome 👍 thanks
YOU ARE CLEAN👍⭐⭐⭐ AND WONDERFUL ORGANIZER⭐⭐⭐
Don’t put anything on or around the head rest. It’s not just for comfort it’s for safety. You can put it around the seat though
The music drove me crazy.
Do some easy BoHo dollar tree organizing decor.
And easy Dtree BoHo solar lite hacks....
Great ideas!!!!!
Great video. 👍
shampoo your carpets. dont spot clean with dawn and water. soap left in the seats will dry out the fabric.
Don't use Dawn dish detergent on your upholstery like this without adding a few drops of fabric softener first. It'll dry and flake off without it. Or, you could just use Windex instead as that doesn't leave residue behind.
Best ideas ever
pretty good job. I would not use the same rag to clean the doors and seats as you did the floor mats though
Very dangerous if anyone in back seat. Seat belts can fail and head into back seat and metal of these hangers.
Stopped watching the video three minutes ago but the music still plays loudly in my head
Vacuuming up a fine gritty powder will destroy the gears in the vacuum and ruin it.
I have a white Kia Soul that needs all of that! Do you have cams on my house cuz last weekend I organized my hall closet (because of your post)...now this! It's like you just KNOW! LOL! Thanks 4 the awesome tips & great content! 😊💯❤️💥
Fyi don't ever leave any kind of combustible aluminum cans in your car during the summer, my son made that mistake. Blew out his back window.
only one 'hack' about the towel bar; the rest about car related hacks.
I'm glad my PC has a MUTE button.
Don't use toothpaste on your headlights. The abrasives in the toothpaste will wear off the protective coating and cause the plastic to haze and discolor faster.
Buy a headlight restoration kit. I recommend Meguiars Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration Kit. It comes with multi-use components so you can save the whole kit and reuse it multiple times.
Where do I find a car cleaner to clean my car,I don't have time to do it myself LoL
This video is going a little too quick for me, you can't even tell what products to clean are being used on what parts of vehicle but I would like to know?
I don't know about that clothes hanger in the back. Isn't it illegal to block your vision to the back rear window? Prone to being pulled over.
It’s not illegal to block the rear window. Think panel vans…. I believe the side mirrors are the main cause of concern, but each state is different or indifferent….as it may be.
Couldn’t mute fast enough that chaotic music is anxiety inducing. I agree with so many others about that towel rack, super dangerous.
After you use the baking soda, if you have a deep muscle massager, it works great to pop up debris and the baking soda while vacuuming, just run the massager next to the vacuum hose attachment, you will see how great it is and vibrating loose sand and small particles, it’s extra great for the floor board and seats where you can shake out the fabric. The WD-40 works great at getting scuffs like other paint transfer off your cars paint job, my husbands front fender was side swiped by a driver that took off, so tried the WD-40 suggestion at it really worked, so I bet it works good on removing dead bugs and road tar too.
I made that music my main ringtone.
I, cant find that in our Dollar store ,any where.😊
What did you use to wash the outside of your car? It was so shiny!
Using a shammy (chamois) cloth makes your car shine and dry more expediently.
I meant shared
Some great ideas in this video. Thanks !!!
Seemed unnecessary to spray paint the pvc pipe JUST to hang your car mats on it!
As others stated, do not put a towel rack on your headrest. As one commenter pointed out. Shower rings are much safer.
I opted for shower rings. Didn't like the idea of having that bar driven through my head in an accident.
this is hilarious to me. Her car wasn't even that dirty!
If you do not rinse this the spots you sprayed with the soapy water will be the first that will attract dirt
Did ur vehicle come with that trunk organizer
Maybe this bar not the best idea🤗
What did you use to wash the outside of car
I listened about 5 seconds before bailing to gripe here !!!
I like Hometalk, but these where so fast, I couldn’t keep up with what they were trying to do…
I had to put it at half speed to be able to follow it.
Is that little garbage can in the back floor supposed to stay put when you turn corners? How? I kinda think it's going to be on its side more than its bottom.
Can you imagine, if you wrecked and that towel bar goes thru your neck. Better rethink this idea. 😢
What is "Dawn"?
WD-40 Stinks
Can you come clean my car for next video 😉😘
I would have liked to see the video for the bar in the car. I only saw a woman cleaning a car. Very disappointed with this video.
