    Good tips overall, but here's another one: If you're trying to get a sticker off something and heating it up is impractical (such as if it's plastic or non-heatproof glass), peanut butter is your friend. The oil in the peanut butter helps dissolve the glue holding the label onto the container. We used to use this in a tech company where I worked.

      For gentle heat to remove stickers use a hair dryer. It works.
      That using a stove idea worried me. Too much chance for a mishap. Plus the fact some types of plastic distort at high heats which is why plastics sometimes say not to put in a dishwasher.

      You can actually just use oil. Oil of any kind.... even cooking oil. Any of it works as good as goo gone. Also It is really good to use when getting labels off plastic because it doesn't scratch or discolor the finish on the plastic.

    These tips are brilliant!
    On the side: My grandmother never threw away bacon grease. She saved it in a can on the stove. She used it to oil the pans when frying things. She would fry chicken, and then made gravy out of the pan drippings. Absolutely the best!

      @@WebspoonWorld Passed on through my mother to me. Grandma was an old school 2d generation German immigrant. Her parents never learned English. She grew up on a farm and lived on a farm through the Great Depression and WWII. People back then were very self sufficient and knew how to improvise to survive.

      This is what I still do today.
      Once shown by my mother, never forgotten.
      The fat from ducks, geese, bacon I use for frying potatoes ( ROAST POTATOES) .
      Putting into the spicy red cabbage is wonderful. Not that it makes the cabbage shine, it's a wonderful taste too.
      Put it on a slice on toasted bread with a little salt - DIVINE !!!!❤🇩🇪❤

    We, in the US South, always have a grease "jar". Usually an empty coffee can. We just filter the grease and let it cool. Cover it, and let it be until the next time. Yes, sometimes it gets totally foul, but with the proper lid, you won't smell it. Let it sit and fill until full and then throw it away.
    For those who cook a lot of bacon and use a lot of the grease to cook with, the bacon grease is saved in a jar. When it's needed, just take a couple of tablespoons or more to cook or fry. For those who do this, it's used so fast that it won't go bad.

      Anytime I have grease to pour off I drain it into a PAPER coffee cup ( saved from anytime I have a take out coffee) I usually put a bit of paper from my shredder into bottom of cup to absorb the grease, then into the green bin for compost. Also the sticky label on the bottom of bowl will peel off easy after letting hot water sit in the bowl for a bit.

      I use a smaller can, like a soup can, so the throw away grease doesn't have to sit around too long before it gets thrown out.

      You could put ur grease can in fridge, so it lasts longer. They also sell "bacon grease" metal cans with lids just for that!

      How about using a zig zag fold of the parchment paper and lay the bacon on alternating sides. No cutting required.

      ​@WebspoonWorld I simply freeze my bacon spread out on a parchment lined cookie sheet, then place the individually frozen slices together into a zip lock bag. When ready to cook, take out what you want and leave the rest til later. Also, if one uses the bacon fat, keep it in a jar in the fridge as it stays (solid) much longer than on one's counter. I do like your idea of the foil lined bowl for used grease until solid. I would always use an old can then throw it out, but then you aren't recycling the can, and the foil can't be anyway. Win, win.👍

    Some of these are really great, but advising folks to throw away bacon grease vs finding new ways to use it in recipes is a crime that is punishable where I'm from.

      Originally from Missouri and my mom always had a container of bacon grease on the stove. Went in beans, eggs, cornbread, fried chicken, fried bread, vegetables. Can’t eat green beans without it.

      My question as well. I did find another youtube using 325 degrees for 30 minutes, cooling naturally (no ice bath); eggs were unevenly cooked onside and some showed a slightly green rim on the yolk. With that knowledge, I think I can make a few adjustments to make it work...
      It would be best to hear from Webspoon...!!! 😊

    Damn!!! 🎉🎉I love the way you see things!! I’m an old lady who worked construction. We had an issue at work & I told them how to fix this issue.
    But I wasn’t a boss & no one heard me. I couldn’t figure out why no one could see how easy the answer was.
    Then we got a new man on the job site n he saw what I saw so clearly!
    When he said it all the men yelled and n delight that they couldn’t believe they didn’t see it. They took him out for beers after work.
    I had said that idea multiple times in the last 2 weeks…
    Thanks for the share as I can implement this wet hand idea on plastic wrap. I spit on my trash bags to open them & I can’t believe I missed this one🙃🤣🤣🤣

    I do the same quick clean up bit when I use a mixer and beaters. I just throw a little soap in a bowl and run the beaters in it then run the beaters under running water and they're clean

    Here in my country, we don't use flour on bacon. We use brown sugar and cracked black pepper. Million dollar bacon. We don't over cook it.

      Now that sounds yummy! I usually just cook the bacon plain. Never even thought about spicing it up, but am going to now! Sometimes I put bacon between paper towels and cook it microwave for a few minutes and it's perfectly crispy and quick. And all grease is on the paper towels. Works best if not cooking lots of bacon. But it is straight and crispy. And now I want some bacon.

    I do something similar but totally different with bacon! 😂 I precook the bacon in an oven or air fryer and then lay it on parchment paper and roll it up. Stuff it into mason jars and pressure can it. It turns out absolutely amazing every single time! I have endless amounts of shelf stable bacon for any recipe or just to have with eggs. I’m trying to find recipes that don’t require fridge or freezers for obvious reasons! Cheers.

      Did you know that if you get fresh chicken eggs, don't wash them, then they don't need to be refrigerated! Just be sure to wash them as u use them. Also, if you buy eggs from store, coat them with mineral oil and u need no refrigeration. I utilize this for my camping trips. Since that's another reason for trying to keep things unrefrigerated.

    Some of these are genius. Thanks. My tip for disposing of fat or grease is, l keep an empty can and put used coffee grinds in it. While the grease or fat is still hot l pour it in the can and when the can is full l drop the whole thing in the bin. I also use used coffee grinds for cleaning my cast iron cookware and polishing the stainless steel sink.

    I always wanted to do a series on "Cooking with newspaper". I use it for bacon, tomato pie, chicken wings, egg plant parmesan and many more. Lined with paper towels, it is an essential tool for extracting moisture and grease. No clean up crispy bacon is a staple. And for a tomato pie that slices and holds up perfectly, it is essential to slice, salt and press them in rolled up paper towels and newspaper. For super crispy chicken wings they must be DRY. Roll them up in newspaper & paper towels and set aside until moisture is extracted. Same for fried shrimp, scallops and calamari.

    Loved all your tips. For bacon -- I cook the whole package, drain on paper towel, and then lay 1/2slices on a fresh paper towel, roll, put in a sandwich baggie, and freeze. Then I only make a cooking mess once, and I have bacon ready whenever I want.

      I do this with hamburger. I'll get a 4 or 5 lb package and fry it all, then put in ziplock bags in the freezer (flattened, so they stack well). This way, I have browned ground beef for casseroles, tacos, etc already done. Saves time and one less pan to wash. I just need to remember to NOT fry a portion for when we want meatloaf!

    Best way? Just pull the label off and use Ronson lighter fluid to remove leftover paper and adhesive. Lighter fluid is a great solvent for removal of tape and label (sticker) adhesive. It also does not damage the surface. It has other uses as well. I don't smoke but I like to keep certain solvents for various crafts I do. Its cheap and goes a long way!

    I use parchment paper or foil to cover my bsking sheets.

      Pork has 175 times more Vitamin B1 than butter. The amount of cholesterol in pork is also lower.

    As a girlscout, 63 years Afro, I learned to put egg shells in a container with water, and use the water to feed the plants. It worked great, though the mixture smelled awful. No boiling, no crushing, just shells in water. An old plastic bottle worked great. My mother started going it, too!

    I loved the way garlic was softened and removed from it's she'll, for one. The egg shell powder for plants was also a great idea.
