The brilliant Mark Knophler in the background
The greatest harmony duo in rock and roll. It's not surprising that a god like Chet Atkins saw this but I'm eternally grateful that he did.
I bought my records 15 in Fiji 1957 my sister Liane and l sang danced and house work was so good.to see the boys with Chet and Mark now so special. I am 81 still sing Emmy l love you all
The Beatles envied these guys and only wished they could sing and harmonize like this. Siblings are always very good when harmonizing.
My husband first heard the Everly brothers in 1957 when he was only 7. Their songs were riveting , their harmony unmatched. He feels the same about them today.
That was a whole lot of talent on one stage. Lovely to see all those people working together. Don and Phil… what else can be said that hasn’t already been said? They were trailblazers - the best duo ever. No one can touch them. I’m grateful I got to see them perform live once. My only life regret is that I didn’t see them more.
Music makes life worth living. The Everly Brothers and Mr. Atkins are a musical treasure. Thank very much for sharing.
These guitar masters are simply the best!
Mark Knopfler looks so happy!
Love Dire Straits!
he wrote a great Song !
I remember running home fm... school just to watch the Everly Brothers..on American band...ha ha guess I've been running to their music ever since...such a class act!...as for Mr Chet Atkins...??... I ain't got the words...the NAME says it...all...R.I.P.Boys...R.I.P.♥️
Those Harmonies are Immortal! They will never be forgotten!
And I noticed that almost everything they sang had a country flavor to it. They were country boys through and through from Kentucky.
And to have Chet Atkins on the same stage with Mark Knopfler is amazing! Two of the greatest guitar 🎸 pickers ever. Backing up the legendary Everly Brothers.
This is a fantastic show. Thanks to whoever uploaded it!
Soviel Lebensfreude, mit Freunden singen, performen, glückliche Gesichter. So schön danke
All three of them are gone, oh what music they made! So thankful for that❣️
Brilliant Part with Mark Knopfler together, wonderful as all songs. Thankyou so much.
I saw the Everly Brothers in 1968, maybe August in Sydney Australia when I was on R & R. I might have had a little to much to drink, but they were stoned.
They were truly a national treasure, my all time favorites. There music was clean. I loved them. And what can we say about Chet Atkins. The best all time guitar.guitarist
Sorry about the goof-up at the end, didn't know how to fix it
Love Chet Atkins my first vinyl record of him was A SUMMER PLACE would wake up every morning before going to school with the sound of a SUMMER PLACE.
Yes! So musical, but with improvisations, great and various tones, and impossibly difficult technique! Chet could quietly brighten any party with that rye spot on, appropriate sense of humour! We need his clone to carry on!
Old School RESPECTING Those who came before them! Love it!
Impeccable harmony
What a collection of amazing musicians. Wow.
They were so wonderful, and their songs are forever young! 🎶👌🎶💕🎶
In 1986, I was part of a small crowd that witnessed the Everly Brothers receive their star on the Hollywood Boulevard Walk of Fame. Tom Petty did the presentation.
Standing right next to me was another fan, Elvis Costello, who went unannounced and unacknowledged, just another face in the crowd.
Yep, lots of those unacknowledged, musician celebrities in that crowd.
..... they should be there to honor the Everly Brothers ~
Wow!! What an auspicious group of people on that stage for the last song!!
I get so nostogic listening to the Everly brothers
So do I. I love the Everly Brothers
Glorious
The great Everly Brothers. Truly something to treasure forever.
man, emmylou was hot!
It's 8-30-2021. Both of those angelic voices are gone now. No one will ever top the Everly Brothers.
@@kathylebro1359 True. They were a legend! Still are. Their songs will go on forever.
@@AnneCherch I agree with you. Those harmonies will be around forever.
I’d give my eye teeth to have been there. Truly outstanding
Legends on stage tonight
Nothing like them. Awesome!
I didn’t know they played together. This is pure gold. And I see Michael MacDonald on piano.
Superb. great post.
Wow..the talent on that stage.......
Fantastic harmonies from these two great legends...Godbless them both.
How beautiful is that ,the harmony perfectionists !
I saw the Everly Brothers three times, and I honestly think their harmonies were the most pure, beautiful thing I've ever heard, and I've appreciated a lot of music in my day.
Right, it's hard to believe that they're just singing the major scale, just 7 notes. Music comes alive when they both sing.
I'll know I'm in heaven, when I reach the throne, and see Don and Phil singing new praises to the King, WOW!
Uncanny, weren’t they? I’ve heard others try. Some were close, very.
The Beatles looked up to the Everly Brothers. In fact, the Everly Brothers were the biggest thing until the Beatles came on the scene.
Mark Knoffler, Chet Atkins...and I see Michael McDonald on keyboard and pretty sure that's Jeff Lynne on guitar next to him. Quite a backup band!
I saw the Everly Brothers in concert 25 times and I was never disappointed. I was so sorry to see them break up for the second time in the 90s right before I was about to see my 26th Everly Brothers concert in Atlantic City, NJ. Needless to say, the AC concert was cancelled and the money refunded, but I was so sad. I would have paid three times the ticket price if they would have performed. I loved those guys! The only thing sadder was hearing about Phil's passing. Heartbreaking.
People like you amaze me.
What was the farthest trip you made to see them ?
WRZ 2020-07-16
How lucky are you to have seen them in concert!! Hope it was as wonderful as I could imagine!!
I’m a bit puzzled - I never heard the Everlys broke up again in the ‘90s. And in fact there are several YT videos of concerts they played in 2000, 2003, 2004…
They did finally retire in 2004, after having to cancel some gigs, which I thought was due to Phil struggling with illness. In any case, they were 67 and 65 respectively. So that retirement seems understandable, especially given the slowly-progressing nature of Phil’s COPD, from which he finally died in 2014.

Thank you for putting this one here.
Wow! Perfection!
So very sad too here of DON'S death, both brothers are now singing in HEAVEN, God bless you both, you will never be forgotten. XXX
Mark Knopfler on guitar!
Giants of Country and Pop. All three of them. Oh - and there's Mark Knopfler back there. Wow! RIP
This is from a fantastic PBS special called "Chet Atkins. Certified Guitar Player" An all-star cast was there (and I do mean ALL-STAR) to honor Mr. Atkins. It was pure magic.
Beautiful performance!!
Bye, Bye love must have been sung thousands of times by these two, and each time, it's sparkling, fresh like it's their first time, and in the exact same pitch, style, etc. They harmonize and blend so well, they must breathe in and out at exactly the same time. What a pity they broke for 10 years. Just imagine the number of wonderful songs they could have sung in that time. RIP Don and Phil.
Where would we be without them?Thankyou Everly's for the inspiration!!!!!
Why cant we all get along be at peace and love beautiful music
RIP, Don Everly, and Phil before you. So grateful I grew up on your music. As a small child, I used to put my Dream 45rpm on repeat on the phono and fall asleep to it. It was my favorite lullaby, and I'll bet I wasn't the only one. As for "the two greatest guitarists in the world," Mark and Chet are/were both definitely worthy of the moniker, and both class acts. Grateful to the two of them as well!
Zabardast, cheers from Canada......
My favourite guitar sounds from Chet and my word, there's the best from Australia love the future sultan of swing.
I have never seen this one( only the Why Worry bit)) before but I will watch it over and over again love it thanks Catherine
More than anything else, it was heartwarming to at least see Don and Phil look each other in the eye as they performed and SMILE. After that nasty breakup in '73, they finally grew up and worked out their differences. Equally as heartwarming is the tribute to Chet at the end of this video. What a magnificent, generous, and kind man he was. It's obvious that everyone in the business absolutely adored him. 20 years after his death, he is still greatly missed.
Check looks like Anthony Fauci.
@@mjrotondi5086 sorry don't really see a resemblance.....AF is about '5" 1 with an ego the size of Mt. Rushmore..... Chet is the exact opposite ...stands about 10 feet tall because of talent the size of Mt. Rushmore with an equal amount of humility....
@@donnajones1603 I disagree. Atkins was an obvious communist who for many years dominated Nashville and destroyed the ethos of country music.
@@mjrotondi5086 😄
@@donnajones1603 Yes, personality-wise they are very different. I can see a little facial similarity.
What a bunch of great country singers!
Great singers backed by some great musicians. Glorious.
I love hearing them sing "Why Worry." It's a great song, and they make it even better.
first time I heard them do this I was blown away. like the song was a perfect fit for them.
Myrna Hopkins, Mark Knopfler wrote that song. Imagine performing with the person that wrote it.
@@sergeantmasson3669
Knopfler’s talents with Dire Straits were evident but not particularly that he was such a force on the guitar and other instruments. That he collaborated on Why Worry is evident in the arrangement and production, and this live session makes the tune that much better. 🙂
@@handledeehandledum Knopfler wrote the song and he also studied with Chet Atkins for a while.
@@sergeantmasson3669 Imagine Mark's response knowing that he wrote the song with the Everlys in mind!
That's Chet Atkins singing. Those ladies did a good job!
Wonderful!
They are a awesome group they were the greatest, I it’s great to hear there beautiful voices again
PERFECT! PERFECT!
This music is amazing and listened to it on little transistor radios and AM frequency and it still was the greatest music ever recorded. I will always be so grateful for growing up in this era
What a privilege to enjoy these guys live. World class life milestone nailed!
It just goes to show that someone or some people like the Everly Brothers to take someone else's song like Mark Knopfler Dire Straits' Why Worry and they can make it their own! Why worry is one of my all-time favorite Dire Straits songs and to hear the Everly Brothers singing It's just amazing. Sounds like it was written for them not Dire Straits
Chet Atkins was so good to the Everly Brothers and they sure loved him. Thank you Chet! My daddy loved you and so do I and of course I loved the Everly Brothers! I loved Mark too! Loved you all for your glorious music! 💕
What amazing talent what humility. Loved the ForEverly Brothers forever.
What a combination of the GREAT FATHERS OF CONTEMPORARY MUSIC .
THANK YOU CHET ATKINS & EVERLY BROTHERS .
So much Talent and Harmony. So many are gone now and very little out there comes close to these guys, RIP and Thanks for the Music.
Love they’re harmony
It just don't get no better than this man I love Chet Atkins
such beautiful music - cannot get this nowadays at all!!!
As a child in the late 50s , the first pop music I heard was floating from my mates bedroom across the street to my bedroom one Sunday am. .His Xmas present was a record player and the Everlys LP. Great sound of two voices.
This is so gorgeous...what could be better!! I love this song by Don & Phil!!! ❤️🥰
No wonder Chet and Mark made an album together - they must have known each other for some time. I had seen the Everly's 3 times and I shure wish it was more. It was so great back when you knew the words to the songs and could understand them all.
Some are still great , even newcomers. Check out Sierra Ferrell. Outstanding, and writes her own songs. This was fantastic and l will be watching it many times. Definitely Archive material. Thanks much-needed.
Thank you. This is a real treasure to watch.
.
Wowee! This is just magnificent! Thank you for posting. Such a treasure!
Thanx for ur comment !! Ure absolute right !! This is a real treasure !!! Best Regards !!!
I love the Everly Brothers since the 70s. Sadly I missed their last concert together in Reno years ago. Thank you both for your music and in my eyes you are always the greatest band in the world.
Magnificent harmonies
Love your songs, thanks for your music
They didn't write many of the songs they sang
God, Chet Atkins is so great. "You stole that melody..."
What a great video…and great memories - thanks for sharing! I see Mark Knopfler and it looks like Michael McDonald in the band as well? Par for the course to have legends in Chets band. I really miss old Nashville and the quality and beauty of what popular music (radio) used to be…amazing how times have changed. These videos are priceless.
My favorite version of this song. Thanks!
What a great video! Thanks.
This is awesome!! I like to see Chet just beings friends, especially with all of those awesome people. Nice video.
Why Worry, God rest them all. Tremendous. Eaglegards...
The best, congratulations 👏
Thanks for the great video..what a cast of musicians!
Love these great guys
What a fantastic group of musicians! They don't do these anymore.
Fantastic
They surely had their own sound, plus great songs and a certain magnetism.
They sure did. Even as they transitioned from eager ducktailed youth to disillusioned middleaged men. Otherworldly singing talent may have had something to do with it. Still a mystery as to why they went 10 years without a hit.
Nobody can possibly emulate the collected talent on that stage. It took me back to the days when life was simpler, when music was memorable and the players had actual talent.
Why worry! so achingly beautiful! i want this at my funeral! get a good cry out of everyone then leave them happy
Fabulous !!!
wow first time seeing the backstage stuff really awesome
glad to see MK got them to sing this song together !
There’s masters left forever, but their music stays forever!
Beautiful Musik 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎵🎵🎵
Thanks Catherine Silver
All of these people are from an era of music that will live on in human history as the pinnacle... never to be repeated.
It would be super-cool to be from the future and listen to these folks!
Thanks so much for posting this. I watch it everyday!
so beautiful, thank you
Thank you for posting this treasure!!!
Influence on some of the greatest bands is the testament of their brilliance.
The great thing about this is that they didn't use backingtracks, just artist who understand what they're doing ;-)
