The part where he’s sprinting towards the temple is probably my favorite moment of the game. You can just feel the desperation Kratos is experiencing. Just running as fast as he can trying to save his son.

Kratos normally starts loosing all the baldur fights until atreus is threatened, which gives kratos a reason to fight hard

For their first fight, Baldur was there to seek information, but then turned his head to seeking Atreus when he found out that Kratos was hiding someone. Kratos temporarily subdued him since he killed him and since Baldur did not get Atreus, Baldur lost.
The same thing happens during the Dragon fight. Baldur didn't kill Kratos nor managed to capture Atreus so he lost that too.
Their last one, well you can guess. Also, Atreus was threatened in ALL of their fights. Baldur turned his attention to a hidden person in Kratos's home in their first fight. He knocked out Atreus and kidnapped him for their second. Their 3rd, he just so happened to be there. Baldur didn't even want to harm Atreus but he didn't want to leave, which made Baldur having to turn his attention from Kratos and Freya to all 3 of them.

Kratos can keep calm during the war except when his son is threatened. But I do love the 2nd assassation attempt. Pinning him into a rock in seconds. Rather smart.
This scene in the game literally is one of the reasons why god of war won game of the year.
IMO rdr2 had no chance, sure the story is good but rdr2 lacks good combat mechanics and great animations.
I'm not suprised. They were up against ubisoft and it shoddy textures, story, gameplay, etc etc.

@@raulcarcelen9066 No it was clumsy as fuck and all you really have to do is press L2 aim a bit up and headshot. And even if you do turn it off, the game is still made to just do that. Games like tlou2 has really mastered that mechanic.

At that specific point in the story even if it was not intentional it was a good thing that he destroyed the bridge because the massacre of the giants that would have come would have been outrageous, but then that proved to have been stupid when we learned that the giants are already dead at the end
He did that so odin and the others don't figure out how to get to jotenhiem
It was a strategic move. If he were to leave the portal open, that gives Odin what he wants. If he crosses and then destroys the portal he might be stuck there. Finding an alternative route seemed preferable, even if it means delaying his main goal of fulfilling his wife's wish.
I mean by destroying the gate, he didn't give Odin what he wants. So it wasn't a dumb move actually, but accidentally or intentionally a smart move.

Honestly mad props to the pouch of ashes for never once dropping or falling despite all the shit Kratos goes through. Jumping off mountains, yeeting into Helheim, etc.
The sequence at 5:35 always gives me chills. From the soundtrack to the camera focusing only on the temple door, everything helps the player FEEL Kratos' laser focus on saving Atreus. Nothing else matters, he just needs to get into the Yggdrasil in time by any means necessary because this is the one moment in his life where he cannot afford to fail.

so, what I think is, Ragnarok *is* a better game but this one feels more like a GoW game.
I feel like Kratos’ punches in this fight scene would have hurt Thor because I feel like Kratos is going all out just to save his son, too bad his opponent was Baldur and we wouldn’t know how strong his punches were.

He will die. There’s not enough buffs and weapon upgrades for Kratos to take on the whole of Asgard yet. Maybe God of War: Ragnarok or the game after we will fight against the whole Norse Pantheon. Like god of war 3.

I feel like Baldur is the most hardest and powerful enemy Kratos has ever faced in the entire GOW series. Not even the greek gods are that relentless in fighting Kratos but Baldur is just a tank. And yes dont get me started that Kratos is old. They both are.

Not shitting on Ragnarok because it was a lot of fun, but I feel like this scene was more epic than anything Ragnarok had to offer because a) there was ebb and flow to this battle, making you truly guess what was about to happen, and moving through so many different locations made the scale of the fight feel immense and powerful, and b) it was such a personal fight for Kratos with regards to what he had to lose: his son.
