I’ve started this beautiful quilt using all your tips and tools..thank you Rachel..my only puzzle is sewing the pieces together keeping the colours and patterns separate as I’ve used a jelly roll 😂

I learned this technique from CZcamsr, Vintage Sewing Box, who is Emma. She lives in the UK so you may have viewed her channel. The version that she taught us is also hand pieced but uses a Hexigon shape and we are using print fabrics for the back of each piece. I am using a variety of techniques on the fronts of my pieces, some are a cross stitch piece, embroidery, EPP, and fabrics that have been fussy cut. It is so fun and I was able to use one or two cross stitch pieces that my mom made, who has since then passed, so I will treasure them. I need to get back to making some more hexies. It seems like quilting is taking my time as I am trying to make quilts to give to all of my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. So much fun.
Bonsoir Rachel, I love your brick pattern quilting videos. As a beginner, I was wondering how well the zigzag machine stitch holds the blocks together. Kind regards from the French Pyrenees. xxx
Hello.. I shortened my zigzag so it wasn't as wide but I would probably make it wider to give more security, or if you machine does decorative stitches, they usually have alot of stitches in them so would be strong xx
I wondered this as well. Considering adding a zigzag across both ends to reinforce.

I had thought I would hand sew mine but I’m definitely going to machine stitch now. You’ve made it look so easy. I also have a Viking and love it! What foot are you using? It looks like a walking foot but I can’t tell for sure. Oh and yes, with the Topaz I would also use the embroidery arm to help with a little more space to use as a table for your projects. Doesn’t the Topaz have a needle down feature? I can’t remember.
Yeah I have the walking foot on, I always leave it regardless of what I'm sewing as I find it easier. Happy stitching 💖🧵
I have hexagon blocks on the go, the same as your blocks but hexagon, could I machine them together do you think? ❤
Yeah, absolutely, it would be the same but just be careful at the intersection of the 3 hexagons to keep it neat.

Very much enjoyed this video ( and all the others) and your sewing is so neat. Which leads me onto my next question. I have a Husqvarna Viking Sapphire but can never seem to get the tension correct. I'm forever adjusting it. I appreciate there is probably some difference between the Viking's but just wondered what you have you tension set at, or does it depend on material and weight of thread?

Yes it is rather. I wish my Husqvarna had auto tension like some do. Maybe I could use it as a good excuse to but n other LOL.@@stitchwithrachel

I have the same machine, Husq Viking Topaz, great machine. I just got the D&G templates after seeing your video about this on your TT channel. I'm hooked on hand piecing but I'll do some projects on my machine, as well. Thanks for this instruction, its really helpful!🧵🪡😊
Do you keep your embroidery arm attached? I find it really uncomfortable to sew at without the arm as there is nowhere to line up your pieces in front of the sewing plate.. of that makes sense!
@@stitchwithrachel I don't keep it attached, I find its in my way and I don't have a big table for sewing at the moment. I put down a piece of washi tape to mark any guides i need below the plate. 😊
