LEGO Star Wars on Amazon: am-redirect.com/link.php?&keyw...
I previously made a video giving 5 reasons why you shouldn’t buy Lepin which was highly controversial. Over 500 thumbs up AND 500 thumbs down! But, I’ve taken that video down. That video wasn’t meant to cause offence but I got a lot of negative comments about some of the reasons I gave.
Some of the points I made were literally just things that my viewers have said to me that I repeated, and although I didn’t state them as facts or even say they were my opinion, some people got very angry. But I still want to tell you why I don’t buy Lepin, and so in this video I’m going to give you 5 reasons why I don’t buy Lepin.
5) They copy LEGO. Personally, it does not sit well with me morally to buy from a company that copies from another one. Sometimes, I use the word counterfeit, which doesn’t go down very well with some of you, so I won’t use that work. LEGO thinks it’s counterfeit, that’s why they launched a lawsuit in China against Lepin.
But what do you think? Here’s the LEGO Ghostbusters firestation, here’s the Lepin Firestation, what do you think??? The bricks aren’t copyrighted but the artwork on the instructions and boxes are. LEGO pays a lot to the likes of Disney to make Star Wars themes sets. I can understand that it’s difficult to stop a company selling the same collection of bricks that can be used to build a certain model, but I think when the copying is this blatant, it needs to be stopped.
4) Following on from that, people often say that they don’t buy LEGO because it’s too expensive and that because Lepin is cheaper, it’s better. But one of the reasons Lepin is cheaper is that they don’t have to pay Disney and other companies for the licenses, they don’t have to pay to develop the designs, they literally just have to copy what LEGO have done. With that in mind, if everyone stopped buying LEGO and just bought Lepin, LEGO would go bankrupt and close. Along with LEGO, all the great designs would disappear, as Lepin don’t design anything. Is LEGO overpriced? Yeah, sometimes. But I don’t buy Lepin because I want to support the company that designed the sets. If you don’t want to spend the money on LEGO, then why not buy from some of the other LEGO compatible companies like the ones in the list I made that I’ll link to below.
3) LEGO is better made. LEGO bricks are accurate to 0.002 mm, thinner than a human hair. I’ve never had a LEGO brick that didn’t fit together exactly as it was supposed to. By contrast it’s common to get Lepin bricks that don’t fit snuggly together, or that won’t fit together at all, or even worse, just fall apart. Long Lepin plate bricks also have a tendency to bend or warp by themselves, something that LEGO just wouldn’t stand for. Also, the colour printing in LEGO instructions is first class, making it easier to identify the colour of the bricks you need for your build.
2) I prefer the LEGO experience. When you buy from Lego you get a nice box and instructions. When you buy from Lepin you often just get a bag of bricks. Nowadays you don’t always even get instructions as the customs in some countries are confiscating Lepin sets. Another controversial thing I’ve said before is that I’ve never had a brick missing from a LEGO set, whereas I know that Lepin sets are more likely to have missing pieces. It’s also nice to be able to go to my local supermarket and come home with a LEGO set instead of waiting at least a week, more likely two or more for a package to arrive from China.
1) Resale Value. LEGO holds its value really well. In fact, many sets soar in value when they’re discontinued. Lepin on the other hand is actually very difficult to sell. eBay remove Lepin listings, and you won’t find them on Amazon either. This means that you’re either going to have to hold on to Lepin forever, or throw them away or sell the bricks by themselves at a great financial loss - so while it might seem like a bargain in the short-term, you might find yourself losing out in the long run. - Zábava
Wow guys! This video is a lot less balanced in terms of likes and dislikes compared to the last one. The LEGO fans must be out in force! Please share with your friends :)
Dr Jake's Very British Reviews yeah
you should tell everyone that if they are mssing lego pieces from a set, sometimes its in the bag and it did not fall out when you dump it out.
Nice video and absolutely truth. It is product and IP piracy. PERIOD.
Lepin is so trash logo wins by a million miles
Its easy to practice social responsibility in buying products when you can afford to buy lego death stars on the fly. On top of this do you think the total cost of making a lego set closely compares with the store price? Of course not!

Just went to my local toy store and checked the LEGO section and was horrified with the prices, i do understand why people would buy Lepin because they just want to build again back when they were kids and not pay so so much that it doesnt make any sense especially when you have responsibilities and bills to pay
YES YES YES. THANK YOU. Sometimes some privileged people forget that they live in first world countries and disregard that there's people out there who can't spend $300 dolars on a set. It's either that or paying rent.
@@ponchomora8249 As a romanian i 100% agree with you
Well I cannot afford a Rolex watch so I don’t buy one. I would not buy a fake Rolex because that would be stealing from the company who spent time and effort creating it. If you can’t afford Lego buy another toy.

this video misses the entire reason lepin has a market in the first place. the most popular lepin sets are retired ones that arent in production. sets like the republic gunship and republic dropship with at-ot haven't been on shelves in years and the resale price (like you said) is increased to around $400 as opposed to lepin at roughly $50-$80.
Lepin bricks have no place on the market though, making anything they produce completely worthless
@TFEA A it's not an investment, I don't intend to sell anything. I had the chance to get a £100 Lepin Diagon Alley vs a £300 Lego one. If I'd have got the Lepin one I'd be looking at a worthless mound of plastic and knowing I scuffed the system with an illegal useless product, versus the Lego one, I know I made the right purchase. It is not sad, but wasting your money absolutely is
@@tutin4090 then what about an $80 Lepin Republic Gunship vs a $350 Lego Republic Gunship? Would you screw the system when buying discontinued sets that Lego makes no money on?
Exactly I will usually buy LEGO unless it is a retired set that is now way too expensive for example the imperial flagship
lepins products are just weak and the bricks fall apart and it is illegal to copy of something such as lego with no permission so I would prefer to just pay more money for a better product and don't argue with me because I respect your opinion and I can see why you would buy lepin
Unfortunately LEGO forced my hand to buy a Lepin set. I had a dark age where I stopped building lego kits. I came back to Lego this year after I found an old set my dad bought me. I wanted to get a pirate ship...turns out it was retired and around 1200 usd on ebay. An insane price. the Lepin version was 84 usd, imagine that? I would gladly pay 200 usd to Lego for that set. But the geniuses at Lego decided to retire it so early despite its massive popularity 10 years ago.
obviously they retired it if it was 10 yrs old
Lego doesnt work like that, they almost never do one specific set on a super long run but i understand why it upsets some people including you, i get that feeling sometimes as well
Theres reboots now but its usually for the 20-30 year old sets and the big ones only (so its still pricey)
Personally, I see number 1 as a problem. Lego discontinued so many sets for no real reason considering that most of the pieces are still in production. I understand that there is limited shelve space in stores but what's stopping them from selling all their sets on their website? For that reason, if I really want a discontinued Lego set and Lepin still makes a copy, I'll buy the Lepin.
Exactly this. And the retired original one will increment it's value. So the copy will cost like 10x cheaper without exaggerations.
You're probably more likely to get an extra lego piece than a missing piece.
There are always a few too many parts in a LEGO kit!
Dr Jake's Very British Reviews they even give reserve bricks
Thats Ruff Dog
I've been building Lego for forty years and I only just got a kit with missing pieces.
Between my daughter and I we probably have about 400 Lego sets (all purchased new through legit retailers) we have had a few missing parts (a head, cape and a sticker sheet) but Lego customer service is awesome and always take care of it.
i bought the ninja city got two missing pieces but for me thats understandabel that set got over 4k pieces( i got two different pieces instead) i went to customerservice ordered these parts and everything is ok
As a collector as enthusiast, I can agree with your multiple points. However, as an older brother who wishes to play with my little brother who cares not for "quality" nor the secondary market, I will purchase the cheaper option for play.
Exactly my little sisters couldn’t care less about quality or brand so it’s perfect for them
I would stick with lego because the quality and strength of lepin sets is bad
It also means that you support lepin stealing LEGO ideas
@@tamhoang2758 So? LEGO needs to learn to not overprice its products and stop making low-effort sets.
I say steal ALL the designs! Every single one! Force Lego to compete with itself and work out how it can win back its own customers.
@MrJoeyWheeler yo be honest lego probably has to pay a lot for big name sets. Harry potter or star wars license isn't cheap.
Lepin Ghostbusters firehouse is about £60 to £80 ATM while Lego Ghostbusters firehouse is like £500 £600 on eBay and Amazon... Lepin might be cheaper plastic but it certainly isn't a bad looking station at all when you see it in person
Nobody's thought of calling it "Bootlego"?
Though my stance is that I probably would buy current kits from lego themselves, but buy a lepin version of a kit that was no longer in production since those are far more expensive than buying it from Lego would be and at that point you're no longer supporting the people who made it, just the people who bought one and are selling it at a premium.
"bootlego" nice one 😂
I totally agree
Most of my Lego sets are lego
@@davidbruce6414 same here.
I have the lepon executor that I bought for $200 .I just couldn't afford to pay $2000 to get the Lego version
The only reason why people STILL buy lepin is for the price. If LEGO made their sets much cheaper, lepin would kind of die.
jean-jacques, also Lego needs to focus on better production. They always claim "we're out" when someone tries to buy a set two MONTHS after it came out and all demand has died down. Then once you realize they have PLENTY of time to make more, they discontinue it. Well, I guess they don't need my money. I have not bought a set new from them in years because of their unbelievably low production volume. If Lego demands eBay stop letting people sell used sets, their customers will definitely abandon them and even the guy who uploaded this video knows that!
Eh, I think the reason people buy Lepin is because they are selling copies of kits that lego discontinued. Who's gonna buy a lego kit that was discontinued and the price tripled on when they can buy Lepin for a fraction
yes, but the designers wages, the advertising and the research has to be paid from somewhere
Yah Ur right I pressed like
But they physically can't be cheaper because Lego have to pay fees that lepin do not making Lego being made cheaper impossible.
I love real deal Lego, bottom line is they are too expensive and have exclusive monopoly, competition is good in this case irregardless of copying. for me i love the fact that its not insanely priced and mostly I have a back-list of OLD SETS that are no longer available through LEGO that I want but cannot justify paying $600+ for each set! If LEGO would make ALL sets from the last 15 years available new, I'd go for it
One thing no one seems to mention is how horrendous the Lepin minifigures look
Daniel _ that is why you just buy the sets. All though, I got a Lepin Darth Revan Minifigures and it looks identical to my real one, so much so that I would tell people to get the lepin one instead of the LEGO one if the genuine is too much money. But all their other Minifigures look like a birth defect hit a car
Droids are good too, but that's because they have no detail in the first place
I find that the p1 clone wars clones also look pretty good
The 2014 Stormtrooper variants look good. The Rebels ones had a stroke or something.
I don’t think people are buying Lepin sets for the minifigs, mostly for the builds. If they want good minifigs just buy them from other brands
What about discontinued products? All I’ve ever wanted since I was a kid was the republic drop ship but I don’t want to pay $1000 for a LEGO one when I can buy it for 80
Exactly! I've been wanting it ever since I got my AT-TE as a kid
All I ever wanted was the original cobra Gt. Sure I can buy a replica but it's not the cobra Gt that i wanted.
wardope it may not be the exact thing, but’s it is way closer to anything that they would have rather never got

I think I was missing one piece from a Lego set once.

I was missing one pieces from Discovery Shuttle. With Chinese Lego never happened this.
My son has a lot of Lego original sets, mostly "Star Wars".

Lego Pirates of Grammary (Lego Pirates of the Caribbean)
Lepin monster wariors: lego monster fighters
I have mixed feelings. I would prefer LEGO when I can afford it, but one of the things I don't like about LEGO is when they discontinue sets, whereas Lepin still has many discontinued equivalents still available. Would it be considered ok to buy a Lepin set if the LEGO equivalent is no longer available?
Additionally, is it ok to buy a Lepin set if there is no LEGO equivalent full stop? Example being the Launch Umbilical Tower for a Saturn V rocket...
yes imo if theres no way to get it at all then its okay but buying pieces is better but thats not a option either all the time
Just my personal thoughts: I'm not color blind but sometimes I have trouble telling if the instructions for Lego sets call for black or dark gray, even forest green pieces. I thought Lego was price gouging their sets to make the most money because some Lego sets were cheap back in the day, then they remodeled the set, added maybe 10-50 pieces, updated pieces, and then hiked the price up by 10-30 dollars
Lepin kits are in my opinion an acceptable alternative for sets that are out of production, for example the republic gunship or similar sets for people that don’t want to spend an arm and a leg and just want it to play with it.
I mean if I can't afford lego like usual I'm 15 and live in the middle of no where so no I can't get a job, but these are cheaper and are fine for shelf duty tbh
I know there are rare cases where something happens to a Lego piece either breaking or missing a piece, however Lego also will send you replacement pieces for free.
They will if ypur set is actually missing a piece. If they would in any occasion, ypu could just get a lego set piece by piece for free.
LEGO uses better quality plastic for its building blocks.(EASY to pass on to the next generation)
I still have my first set and building blocks.
I even have lego blocks that are older than I am.
These plastic stones are now 50 years old and not distorted or discolored at all.
That is a very good performance for plastic.
This high quality you will certainly not get with the Chinese copy
The chance of getting deformed lego bricks or parts is very very small.
If a part is missing in a set, lego does not do difficult and sends you the item to you.
So a few years ago I dived myself again in the world of Lego because even if you slightly are older Lego is still fun.
You haven t pointed out but the chance that you don t get value for your money is little small.
Lego puts a lot of extra spare parts in his sets.
I only can imagine buying fake lego when you don t have the money for it of missed some of the sets that you wanted to have for a long time.
I too have LEGOs that are older than I am - from when Sampsonite manufactured them in the U.S (60s to 70s?) - and they've held up better than at least a couple of my more recent bricks - one of which managed to split its side, exposing just the tubes on the inside.
This pieces was better manufacted 30 years ago, today LEGO sell same plastic than chinese.
> These plastic stones are now 50 years old and not distorted or discolored at all.
lmao
It should be noted that tons of people bought Lego... but, they also lost them... most people lose their Lego bricks. Knowing this, I think many people won't mind to get the fakes knowing their kids would lose them.
"LEGO uses better quality plastic for its building blocks" all the lego that was passed to me are all destroyed, the pass was too soon XD
Re: missing Lego bricks - around 25 years ago as a kid I bought a small spaceship Lego kit that had two left (or right) wings instead of one of each. I wrote a letter to the Lego club that I was in (do they still have that now!?) and they sent me a replacement part in the post!
So LEGO came good in the end! Yippee!!
LEGO famously has the sales strategy to discontinue popular sets, and that's the "secret" of keeping the ridiculous resale prices, and making new sets popular for their "future" value. It's a legit strategy, but that also gives people good reasons to go for the knock offs.
Honestly I think its wrong to buy Lepin. However, I'm broke, so... it's sad but true
I feel you brother
Not really. If you're broke and don't wanna spend tons of money to an expensive lego set, you can buy Lepin sets anyway. Doesn't matter if they're fake. The only difference is the quality and price. The Lepin sets that are copied from lego are really identical
With a £250 Lego set you get ~£250 worth of Lego. With a £50 Lepin set you get nothing of value, as there is no market for Lepin bricks
@@tutin4090 if you convert £250 here in our country, it's ₱16,000. As a worker, that's too much! In ₱16,000 you can buy lots of things that are much important than an expensive lego set... However, if you convert £50 to php, it's only ₱3,000. See the difference? ₱3,000 is a reasonable price for an expensive lego set. I'd rather buy Lepin sets than overpriced discontinued lego sets... But don't get me wrong, If i had the same money as you, I'd rather buy lego than lepin, which sucks because our country is poor
@@fredfred4793 Yes, thanks for summarising the video.
It's 100% counterfeit - branded materials should be protected and they intentionally deceive consumers. If they were making only their own unique designs it would be ok. They've even stolen individual MOCs from creators. Importing from Lepin should be illegal. LEGO should have competitors - that keeps prices down. But not the lazy thievery that goes on with Lepin. I think I would have left the original video. I mean - probably at least half the people in the world are stupid so it was probably an accurate account of reality seeing the reaction you got. I've been getting comments quite frequently from supporters of Lepin. Pretty much warrants them being blocked. Do I really need to hear from people that think Lepin is ok? Lol
I completely agree. I'll reply properly when I'm at my Computer and not on my phone. We should collaborate and bring down the fakers!
I took my video down because I started getting comments saying that Lepin should sue me for making libellous comments about them. As I said in this video, the things I reported weren't presented as fact, however some were most likely inaccurate. Even if I'm in the right, I don't want the hassle of some company threatening anything against me. Besides, remaking this more factual video will get a load of views as the Lepin muppets all run to tell me how wrong I am!
I have to say that when I first discovered Lepin I was shocked, and then for a brief time I saw no harm in them, swallowing some of the fanboy stuff I read online. However the realisation quickly followed that it is a large scale LEGO cloning company, and that doesn't sit right with me. I stop short of calling it counterfeit, as it is not legally proven (yet). Lepin's parent company also has a brand called XingBao, which sells MOCs and pays the designers - personally, I am fine with this, although I can understand why many hardcore LEGO fans want to steer clear.
Dr Jake's Very British Reviews i hate lepin
BrickTsar plz shout my channel I making stop motion in two weeks
What prevents people from buying real LEGO? That makes no sense.
I buy Lepin whenever I want an old set that's been discontinued without having to pay hundreds of dollars by purchasing from scalpers on the aftermarket. Since it's been discontinued by Lego, I don't see it as damaging to them as a company. However, when it comes to new sets, I want to support Lego by purchasing the real deal.
Armadillo thats is the only reasob why I buy lepin too
It's like I have said before on other channels. I would always buy Lego first, I don't like the blatant copy of them either. However when Lego retires their sets and then you have to pay £1000 - £2000 to a scalper, that causes an issue for me.
Never purchased from Lepin, but I can see why that reason above would make people do it.
Here is a question I'm trying to solve. I would love to have a long retired Lego Maersk Train 10219 it looks awesome but it is so expensive now 350 eur vs the Lepin set 21006 would cost me 60 eur. I have no Lepin set and was never thinking about buying one. But what now ? 6:1 ratio is sick! Most likely I would replace all the moving parts with Lego and also use original PF to make it go.
I sent off for the Maersk train yesterday. I've also got a Lepin cargo train in the "TBA" pile, and I'll review that in due course.
As for power sets, Lego needs to get their act together. These things aren't as easy to find as they might be, and motors and battery boxes and electronics are the very things the Chinese are likely to do much much better. They might copy all your data, but they'll also produce an app that lets you control multiple trains better than Lego's klunky solutions.
LEGO stole the design from another company exactly.
Ok there is the difference between copyright, a trademark, a patent and an idea.
Copyright is for songs movies and books.
A trademark is a characteristic that identifies a product.
An idea cannot be protected or owned by anyone under the law.
A patent is awarded to someone who has agreed to explain how their product or invention works. They are then allowed to control the production of the product for a period of 25 years. After which anyone can produce the product under a different trademark.
So...Ghostbusters is a trademark then right? So the set given as an example breaches copyright law?
Marshal No, it would be trademark infringement.
Copyright is for books, movies and music.
@@DaveDangerous74 Isn't Ghostbusters a movie? Or is it just the fact they are using the ghostbusters logo that is the issue - and if they used the name but a different logo they would be fine (or maybe even the name is a licensed trademark, regardless of logo)? If so I think I get it now
Marshal Star Wars is a movie which is under copyright protection. but Darth Vader is a trademark. If you started selling t-shirts with darth Vader on them you would be infringing upon a registered trademark. A trademark has to be registered were as copyright is Automatically given to you if you have written a book, wrote a song, Taken a photograph, painted a picture or made a movie.
@@DaveDangerous74 thanks for clearing it up. I only ask because the Lego official website specifically states that Lepin was found in breach of copyright law on 4 counts due to the "lego" sets they were selling which infringed on intellectual property rights.
I agree with you. I came out of my Lego Dark Ages by refinding Lego in grad school. I had to research a company and analyze their P&L and had to do some research. I chose Lego :). As you mentioned, Lego is known for their high quality and very tight tolerances. They also pay royalties for franchise sets. Part of the cost in Lego pays for these things. Now Lepin might be tempting due to the price but I personally have no interest in purchasing their sets.
I've only ever had one missing part from a lego set. It was a 1x5 technic piece for one of the motorbikes from like 04/05
I only bought one Lepin set so far. My experience was better than expected but still I'm not really planning on buying another one. The reason I bought this one: The set was discontinued by Lego a long time ago and even some bricks were discontinued a long time ago. The price of buying the individual original Lego Parts would have been over 100 times more expensive than the Lepin set.
They sold it without instructions and without a printed box. The only thing illegal they did in my case was use a copied and slightly edited version of Legos original box art in their online shop.
In general they are clearly doing illegal stuff. But at least in my case they would have been completely legal if they'd just removed the image and replaced it with the text "equivalent parts for building Lego set _____".
@PC Principal The quality was much better than I expected. In general everthing fit (and held together) pretty well. Only a few parts didn't fit or hold and only 2 parts were missing. That's a number even Lego "accomplishes" sometimes, when I order from them. ^^
s'cuse me but we are talking of a toy. spending 2000$ for discontinued lego cafe corner vs spending 50$ for a copy, just to play with it, without talkinvg of the fact that most kids don't know the difference.
jean-jacques Ludot You underestimate kids. Kids would be able to tell the difference from the logo and the quality of the bricks compared to the LEGO they already have, if nothing else.
***BREAKING NEWS***
New study finds that adults who recommend buying Lepin for their kids spend virtually no time "playing" with the product themselves, despite their claim that Lepin is on par with Lego. Furthermore, the study also concludes that parents who claim their children have had no problem with the knockoff Lego bricks, have never actually observed their children playing with them.
Get a job.
Nope. It’s not just a toy. It’s also a collectors item, a display piece and a stop motion prop.
"s'cuse" but lepin is just a brand for cheap ass parents who reutilize toilet paper.
Also lego is more a colector brand than a kids toy brand nowadays
I wish Lego would continue to manufacture sets for longer though as its incredibly frustrating when you’ve saved up to buy an expensive kit and they’ve discontinued it.
what if there are people who can't afford to buy Legos, but really want to make their children happy...
Okay, be honest with me y’all. I’m not really into collecting, just building the stuff is therapeutic for me. Would something like Lepin be worth it? Most of the ones I wanna make I’m pretty sure LEGO has discontinued so the price is a bit wild
You are better of burning your money than buying a lepin product.
Yes it’s worth it! Don’t let people tell u what to buy and what not to
@@jamesmarshall6932 So copied counterfeit Lego sets are worth it? No.
Don't let other people opinions guide you, I'd recommend that, if you're interested in lepin, buy a smaller set and build that. That way you can judge the quality of the lepin product for yourself and decide if you want to invest in a bigger lepin set.

£150 lepin. £800 lego.
🤔
I'll buy up to £50 but anything else my kids are eventually going to lose.
I know Lepin is lower quality but is it still interchangable with lego & also how is the quality compared to lego 80% as good? I heard Mould King is extremely high quality bricks & cheap.
The best alternative for lego is cobi. They make military sets mostly, modelling real life vehicles and weapons, and IF by accident there is a broken or disfucntional brick you can send cobi a message and they will send you a replacement for it. Cobi is polish so for me personally that in itself makes a difference (for the good) , but in all honesty their kits have improved over the last 10 yeras, and they are up to the lego standard. I'm not trying to advertize, but in my opinion it's a shame that lego doesn't make these real life military vehicles, and most of the sets i see are either fantasy or modeled after movies, not counting lego technic. I'd like to see lego produce sets modeled after ww2 vehicles, but i will always keep buying cobi as i'm covinced their quality and pricing are good, and i get better value for money when i purchase their sets.
i agree lego should have millitary stuff
I'd like add my personal opinion regarding this "controversial" point. Firstly I wanna say I'm a Lego collector and Moc maker (just for my personal challenges of course), secondly i partially live in China since 13 years! Then: I can surely agreed that there are no doubts regarding all the copies products Lepin is doing on Lego (I personal bought some of them and I can confirm everything you said in your video!). But without enter that much in details can say also that Lepin it's an alternative for Chinese users (mainly children, in fact, in China, the "Moc concept" is still far from its means, adult work not play :) ! ), In China Lego sets are unbelievable expansive compare with several other local brands, more or less acceptable and Lepin , in China and in my personal opinion, it's one of the best (people doesn't care that much if copied, Moc or whatever...!). Another point of view if we projected Lepin in western (EU or US), definitely for “Lego purist” such "ashamed" copies are morally unacceptable… but sometimes even the financial strength of people are limited to purchase Lego and it's also not so right such "toys" are just affordable by few (I know this open a discussion about collecting, but if we're "funs" we'd not think about business, moreover I think Lego already made some action to avoid the sets reach high value after they've been dismissed from shops' shelfs, so…). Consider that even Lego is producing in China and the high quality is a cost, of course even here, but I think we all agree that the selling price of Lego products is really high and I personally don't care they produce Disney, Ghostbusters or other TM and I'd be charged for the rights fees they have to pay to them for me Lego is always traditional themes: Technics, Creators, Architects and City, all the others (not few indeed!!) are just commercial sets: for attract ours kids because TV push some formats instead of others and Lego follow the commercial tendency! Lego “costs” for the quality (molds, QC system, factory automation, R&D…) they have is definitely higher than Lepin (or others “compatibles” brands!), this must be recon in the selling price, which is right, but we don’t just pay for it (this is just an excuse today!) we pay for all the rest (as you mentioned in your video). More over I’d like to said that several sets produced by Lego today are picked from Lego IDEA or from the MOC and they don’t recognize to creators any prize (not just money!)… then we wanna talk about morally?! In conclusion (I think my comment is already long enough!), all these alternatives brands can found in the market can help to have more price competition, but even Lepin which today is the “official copier” of Lego, must be a signal to think that others can do also similar level of product and cannot just take advantage on the fact one can be collectable and other are just rubbish!
Then totally agree about the copy but not agree about the other reasons which are neglectable compare with what should offer and what it’s right to pay. Who buy Lego (so I) will continue to buy it (no doubts!) but newer users (which might be never care about collecting!) they will looking for alternatives, which is definitely right and for us we’d not be blind only for Lego.
Fuck dude are you writing a book or what??? Anyway your points make sense. Well at least a lot better than most of the other dumb dumbs on here
Excellent reply and better than the actual video-nice job
I'll add that Lego doesn't lose money because of Lepin, since Lepin customers can not offer to buy Lego, and limited Lego sets are sold out anyway. So lein didn't take anything from a financial POV form Lego.
Another thing : What is scandalous is the copyright prices of US entertainement licences like Star Wars or Disney. The products licencing has become a greedy trade since it has been industrialized by US elite lawyers which are no more than businessmen, the most greedy bunisessmen on earth actually. they produce nothing but greedy overcomplicated contracts, making our lives harder and complicated. You can say now that a Star Wars movie is just a 2 hours advertising for collectibles and licences. An advertising that make huge money ! And they're still hungry...
Well do you really want to buy like a set that is usually $50 for like $200 also there are discontinued sets like the Super Star Destroyer it doesn’t look that bad with lepin same with the Death Star 2 set
And The stupid prices LEGO makes are unbelievable! The newer Deathstar is like $200 more than the original and all that changed was the fkin minifigures and maybe like updated pieces but the design didn’t change at all! Smh
Oh don't forget the damn under $10 or $20 sets!
I had a missing Lego piece in an xwing set I bought. Went to the website filled out the a form and had the replacement in a week for free.
Hello. Can you do a video for the reason that Lego stopped working on hero factory and bionicle. What do you belive? Will lego start some day work again hero factory sets ?

COBI AINT CHEAPER AT ALL
Ive been building LEGO since the early 2000’s, and the only issue I’ve ever had with missing pats was with an Imperial Star destroyer around 2010. The issue was that a bag was missing and instead I got an extra bag, but the extra bag was the bag full of just minifigures... ToysRUs wouldn’t let me return it but I got double the minifigures in the end at the cost of finishing a star destroyer

Maybe because they provide so many extra because all their pieces broke?
@@cheeriosaregood920 well no.
They don't include extra pieces, in fact are usually missing some... Some times they even have over 100 more pieces advertised on their box.
Its fake advertisement
@@danielhayes8348 The Lepin sets I've assembled all came out with more bits than advertised. Just quietly, but I don't think these people have a brick shortage. There are loads of LEGO fanatics who collect them and have completely bought into the brand and therefore hate Lepin but there seems to be lots of others who say Lepin sets are fine. Sure, they're not as good as LEGO but for the same reason that I own a Ford instead of a Ferrari, I'm OK with that.
6:50 the Irishman has been found in you
I agree with your points 100%
BUT.....
There are some benefits with Lepin
1. There are many Lego enthusiasts out there that can’t afford the Lego price upfront. With Lepin as their alternative, it keeps their interest at bay until they can afford the real stuff. This is much better than giving up the hobby all together which doesn’t really help Lego either.
2. Lepin does off some sets that Lego doesn’t. For example... they have the game of thrones series which Lego doesn’t. They also have Lord of the Rings which their version is more detailed (even though their precision is not on Legos level)
One time I bought a Lego set that was missing a small, (not that important) piece. And had a completely different piece that had no purpose in the set.
one reason to go for lepin is the saturn v. I wanted the saturn v so freaking bad and now that I am financially stable, they stop making it and ebay people are selling it 5 times more.
Nir Patel or you know you could go on bricklink and get the set for the pieces instead of people who copied off other people’s work
@@wookiesrppl2554 it's more than 300$ on brinklink. If you got that money that's great, I got one off Kijiji for $220, but for other people who are passionate for rockets and space exploration they shouldnt feel bad for getting a knock off brand since Lego chose to retire the set. This set is an inspiring work and many people like myself were extremely sad when they stopped making it, I was thinking of getting the china version for a long time but comments like yours is the reason I didn't.
I love watching your videos
Here in Brazil, the recently released A Frame Cabin set from LEGO Ideas is selling for 2300 Reais, our currency, that is 2 whole minimum monthly salaries over here, and that translates to almost 500 USD, I am not paying that for LEGO, I am buying a knockoff, I understand the risks, I understand the morals, I understand the drop in quality, it is just an exorbitant amount of money, truly too much.
Enjoyed the video, the only issue I had was about instruction manuals providing clear info about colour. Ive not always found this to be true. I do love your videos and I would never consider buying an alternative to LEGO. Thanks for your channel.
My 11 year old nephew would like a Lego Technic Bulldozer for Christmas. He wants to use the bulldozer to build a motorcycle track in his backyard sandbox. The Bulldozer that would do the job is model no. 8275. Unfortunately this has been discontinued and on ebay a new set is selling for $1200. As much as I love my nephew, I can't afford $1200! This is why I am considering getting my first Lepin Bulldozer. The Bulldozer is going to get dirty, used, and beaten up but for $100, it's justified. My nephew only own Lego sets and I have only supported Lego so I see nothing wrong with getting one Lepin set. You could blame Lego for discontinuing the Lego Bulldozer 8275. If they continued to manufacture it, I would buy it. There is no other authentic Lego Technic Bulldozer alternative that compares and that is why 8275 is selling for so much money on ebay. If you find me an authentic Lego version at a reasonable price, I will buy it. I do agree with you, however, the Lepin version is counterfeit.
listen man, lego make hundreds of sets each year! they cannot afford that much money to produce all those sets plus its old and they make newer sets similar to that set but new! also your not buying lego when you buy lepin, just know that
I just found one for like 100 dollars lol if you know it’s gonna be beaten up and destroyed just buy a second hand one
Another point about having a defect/missing piece is that Lego’s customer service is great. They’ll happily replace parts and sometimes entire sets if you just ask
Yeah and I had this with ewok village.
They won't replace whole sets.
miscolors should be kept though because they are more valuable
Biggest reason a good few people I know buy from Lepin, is because they still produce discontinued Lego sets. Other than that, they buy from Lego 9/10 times.
Only lepin sets I would justify buying are discontinued sets which like you said can sometimes soar pretty high in resale value and I don’t mind paying resale, I’ve collected roughly 320 sets (from lego) but some sets I could never get my hands on and just wanted them as a display piece so I would have to turn to lepin. But to each their own! Great video 👍🏻
I agree with the part of copying but. Lepin is cheaper and we cant buy then but i agree with you 100%
I use them for animations and they do the same job I’d rather spend 85 cents on a figure then 10$
greenmachinefilms legos are much better printed quality but I do understand so u do u not telling u not to do that
I'll most likely use Lepin minifigs as Lego doubles in case if I want the character to have battle damage or just burnt like Anakin Skywalker.
I just built the ucs falcon, it was missing 2 pieces. Lego did send me the parts free of charge. Also my sw probe Droid was missing 1 part.
I have just bought a set for my Son that was described as Lego but when it arrived it's a rip off version, I've complained and will be returning the product for a refund, minus postage costs which annoys me. When I see a product advertised as Lego, I expect it to be a Lego product, simple as that.
@Dr Jake I think Lepin Should be illegal The name is even almost the same! I don't but lepin. I would never want to support them. Other Lego knock offs are actually descent and they think of there OWN ideas. I like mega bloks a lot because they don't rip off Lego. Its just another brick building system
Lepin is the same as Lego? Guess you've never seen LEBQ ;)
OrfiPlayz they market themselves that way.
OrfiPlayz I think lepin should be illegal
I agree with every word he says. I don't know why ANYONE buys Lepin over LEGO.
I also have about 40 LEGO sets and only ONE set has something wrong, with Lepin, it's about 1 out of 4 or 5 sets that have something wrong.
BTW The LEGO problem was the tracer vs. widowmaker set, Instead of a 1 x 3 plate I got a 1 x 4 plate.
Oh I don’t know maybe because they’re stupidly cheap? They cost a lot in South America and Asia so they’re quite popular there
I bought a ferrari f40 from lego from the lego store and it was missing 3 pieces, the rear engine cover does not line up either, i tried taking it appart and reassembling it and it still doesn’t line up
If you only buy discontinued sets from Lepin then I don't see why anyone would care. $150 going to Lepin or $500 going to some ebay reseller. There was no chance for Lego to make a profit anyways, they made their money from that product already.
Also LEGO creates a lot of employment. I can pretty much guarantee lepin employees are exploited.
BETTER THEM THAN US
@@Cortesevasive not cool bro
if you don't buy Lepin, those exploited workers would be unemployed. They can't work in a nice factory in Denmark.
In a lepin millennium falcon i found a red darthvader helmet... did they intensionally do that
How many times did you say "contrast" in the video?
I would like to add a little to support your video
The design element of Lego system is actually quite an expensive component of Lego sets, but its cost is hidden within the price of Lego. In fact, if you try to buy the parts to build a set either from Lego or from bricklink etc, it will cost you some 3 times the cost of the set.
The manufacture of Lego bricks involves the design of molds to high precision (not accuracy !), but apart from that the entire process is automated and needs few people from start to end.
In contrast the process of design involves a large number of people with various stages in the design process.
Story-design (there are themes), third party license, QA (is it robust and easy to build), art work, printing and such like; several of these you mention.
The issue with Lepin is that that getting round the expensive part - design - and since the business model of Lego is to hide this cost in their sets, it is prone to being easily undercut by unscrupulous companies. So, yes you get cheaper bricks but in the long term it will break the market. Obviously many people believe that there is no problem is doing anything you like in business as long as you make money, but that is the role of patent and TM - and then get upset when it happens to them.
I don't think Lego will be "broken" by Lepin, and their current downturn has many other factors due to the current economic cycle, but they will fight their corner.
I will finish with a final question : Is it OK to buy Lepin dis-continued sets - since this does not impact directly Lego (though does effect the re-sale value, and can effect perception).
And then there is the support, in most languages.
For me, the quality is just not there yet with other companies. I'd put Megabloks at a distant #2, but even their block connections are so inconsistent. Some are perfect, others are locked to each other for eternity, and some won't connect at all. When my son is playing and building, I'm right there building with him. When everything else that isn't Lego just falls apart, he's so disappointed & that honestly kills me. I haven't yet had to worry about that with Lego. More money, yeah, but when I look at all the other stuff and realize it was nothing but an absolute waste of money, it justifies the cost of Lego. And buy Lego on clearance, or buy bins of used bricks. It's on you if you pay full retail, idiot. 6 months ago I bought 2 bins of Lego, a little over 15,000 pieces, for 90 bucks. Washing them all sucked.

I have no objection to the use of the term counterfeit.
My sole criticism of Lepin is the quality in the components is not there. I have the UCS Millennium Falcon from Lepin. It’s about three years old and it is sagging quite noticeable. This sagging is not evident in the Lego units.
