I may think a wee bit too deeply into this while laughing my ass off, but yall ever wonder why Orpheus seemingly easily believe Zagreus' tall tales and persists on it even though Zagreus admitted to it? That made me think back to when he failed to get Eurydice out of the Underworld, when his faith faltered that time and looked back.
And now his hilariously persistent faith on Zagreus' tale must've been because of that fact... poor lad.

I have this headcannon, that Orpheus was completely aware that Zag was messing with him, from the very beginning. And he carried it on and created this hymm just to mess with the Zag in return.
I was hoping that the game would have brought it up and linked it to the act of myth making, and how there is truth in everything, even the lies
And when telling Eurydice about this, she, too, played along.
I want this to be true, so I don't have to suffer second hand embarrassment and stupidity.
It's actually a reference to the fact that Dionysus/Zagreus have been confused as the same god in the actual history of the beliefs of ancient peoples and the mythology

To extend on this, it was an actual myth that somehow involved the theory of a "second Dionysus," involving the reincarnation of one into the other. To top the cherry, this myth was can be referred to as "Orphic Dionysus."

Well yes but actually no? Zagreus' earliest renditions depict him as the son of Hades and Persephone like in the game, then the, latter Oprhic version of Zagreus is proto-Dionysus.
And I think I read something that said that to make a consensus, they made him both the son of Hades and Persephone AND proto-Dionysus. But take this last bit with a grain of salt because I haven't seen that anywhere else.

So Dionysus would be Zagreus Reborned , or Zagreus Reincarnated
Kinda, Zagreus was one of the most powerful gods and may predate most hellenic greek gods. He was originally the god of death, rebirth, madness and nature. Overtime in order to fit him into what we consider the Greek pantheon he got severely watered down and became Dionysus.

@@CafeLiquerstreams i didn't mean it that way. In the og myths we have Zagreus is treated as an extention or an alias of Dyonisus. Many believe Zagreus was an old god that was slowly turned into Dyonisus as wine consumption became widespread and many of their origins are contradicting or just plain confusing so we may never know for sure if Zagreus was just proto-Dyonisus or another god entirely
@@thehermit8618 Also could be seen as a reference to the original theories where he was the god of rebirth, Born to Gaia, killed by the titans, born to Zeus then disappeared then finally born to Hades in an eternal cycle of dying and living, the link to Dyonisus could be more like Dyonisus is another shard of his Gaia's son self

Orphic meaning from Orphism which was a version of greek myths focusing on him and persephone and was named after Orpheus!! You know what made this even funnier to me?
I was wondering what Zagreus was in the Greek Mythos, so I looked up his name. Apparently he had some kind of relation to Hades, Zeus, *or* Dionysus, the “Orphic Dionysus” myth being the most prominent, of Zagreus being another version of Dionysus.
So after looking that up, you could imagine my laughter to the buildup and payoff of Dionysus telling Zagreus on how to prank Orpheus, and then hearing this myth get turned into a joke.
My only regret is that we don’t see the little dialogues that happen as we’re emerging from the pool. Something about Zagreus saying “oh no” and Hades following up with a remark.

@@TuanTranZagreusDarkness4880 i mean all mythologies can be reduced to “lies”/fiction or you could just look at them as different perspectives on life that employ common themes, archetypes, and sometimes characters to sculpt new metaphorical frameworks. I find departures from theological orthodox like Orphism and Gnosticism quite fascinating.

Voice has no gender, if you study the pitch of many celebrities and compare them to the "pitch range of a woman or one of a man" they don' t match
