To what Zag answers the textbox that had been cut short. And the rest of the dialogue is just as shown!

I absolutely love how in Thanatos’ full bio it says that he “adores the young prince”. Freaking Achilles already saw it a mile away. And it makes sense why he was so upset with Zagreus suddenly leaving. That’s when I knew he was my #1 option for the romance stuff

I just realized, considering Zagreus in the mythology is believed to be another name for the old, Pre-Hellenistic Dionysus, him giving Thanatos ambrosia is kinda on-point.
Yes! At some point when you meet w Dio he's gonna say something like "hey Zag mate how about we play a prank on mate Orpheus there huh?" And asks him to tell Orpheus that he and Dio are the same person. Later when you come back from that run, you telltale Orpheus about how you - Zag - got smashed by the titans and given your literal heart to Zeus, who then made you reborn as Dio, which is how Zag exists as two different gods at the same time. Orpheus gets so impressed he makes a song about it, you can sometimes hear it in the house haha!
There are a bunch other references Zag and Dio makes that hint on their shared mythology along the game, Supergiant really did a good job on developing this lore

Man the work that went into this game is above and beyond. If there were to be a major update or sequel I hope they would do just as well with it

In ancient times, there was no real concept of homosexuality, everyone just kinda did what felt right or good. It seems like we're kinda getting back to that ideal

I think my favourite thing about this is how gentle Zagreus is with Thanatos. Most of the time, Zagreus's conversations with others are either sassy or coaxing if he's trying to help someone, like with Achilles and Patroclus, or Nyx and Chaos. But with Thanatos? That's the person he's willing to pump the brakes and actually take a step back to think about what he's doing or saying, and I absolutely LIVE for it.
I like that Zag and Than are laughing during the romance scenes, it's a sweet little detail.
And freaking Thanatos laughs FIRST ♥️

It's kind of funny to see Hades as a bad guy in all these adaptations. Because in the original story he is pretty down to earth.

Everyone in Greek mythology is assumed to be bi/pansexual: but many characters have at least definite leanings towards one gender. Thanatos very much skews towards men, and Zagreus is one of his canonical love interests (depending on whose version you read). Hence why the affection is basically canonical on his end, even if Zagreus doesn't give him the ambrosia. Other Greek writers paired Thanatos with Morpheus (god of dreams), or Dionysus (though that is usually when Dio is the same person as Zag-which is another weird story).
And Than tops, in case you were wondering. In the modern day we tend to assume that the person who initiates the relationship is the top, but that's not how the ancient Greeks thought about things. They thought the bottom, who was generally also the younger and/or lower status partner, should initiate. Thanatos is a Titan/chthonic god, while Zagreus is an Olympian (son of Hades and Persephone): so Zag is the "boy" and Than is the "man" (I mean, they're both immortal gods so it's not nearly as squicky as the usual way Ancient Greeks did it, but Zag is technically a lot younger).

I remember when I played this game I couldn't tell if they were loved each other like brothers of they were straight up gay for each other. I remember giving Thanatos all the ambrosia I got just so I could find out wtf was going on.
Although I wish the devs were a little more clear I have to say this was the most I've ever been invested in a gay relationship in any media.
Huh, I don't remember ever getting the conversation with Hades admonishing Thanatos like that. I must have progressed the story fast enough that I avoided it. Yay.
I don't know what exactly triggers the convo, nor even if you have to raise your bond with than for that, but I'm fairly certain it has to do with him showing up a certain number of times in your escape attempts for such
