- I install cheap junkyard leather seats from a Pontiac Bonneville into my 1995 GMC C3500HD project truck. I try my hand at TIG welding custom brackets to make the seats fit.

To be honest I am very mechanically inclined but I was always iffy working on my cars or trucks but after watching him it really looks easy if you just do your research. Great videos
Great content, love the attitude and the projects! Having to binge watch to get caught up...
Another great video , lots of fabrication ,just goes to show, good it works electrical as well . Can't wait for next film thank you
Thanks! Yeah, I was wondering if the motors would work as well.
I have bounced around a few of these videos on and off and now have subscribed today. Will be binging on this 3500 for a while it seems.
Great work. And I know you didn’t ask, but I would go with the original bench seat for the added space and seating for 3. Peace.
Thanks! Yeah, there's definitely a trade-off, but with legs as long as mine, the bench seat isn't very comfortable for long trips. Also, I want to install (maybe build?) a center console for storage, which the bench seat doesn't have. Lastly, I have a strong suspicion that there's going to be a shifter coming out of the floor soon ;)
Keep up the great work man I can’t wait for the next video
Thanks!
Great video, had to go back and start at beginning, great project👍
Thank you! 👍
Loving this build man
Thanks for watching and thanks for the comments! 👍
Colour choice, the red frame and wheels are a traditional colour for Wagons and lorries (Trucks) here in the UK from turn of the century with horse drawn waggons through to post war 50s and 60s. Often paired with navy blue-(#202A44) or forest green-(#006E33) for the cab and bed are common.
I'm not sure if it's just my feed, but I'm finding it tough to see these videos in any sort of original order...perhaps numbering the titles for each project would be helpful for those of us that have ariven late to the game...
Great content, too bad you had to give up your NPR host gig.😜
keep up the good work
Awesome content! Thank you Waldo
How did I miss this vid. Lol. I think matte battleship gray. It would be a bluish gray. Another great job man!!!!
Thanks, Pete! Yeah, this video hasn't gotten very many views... it's weird because I was pretty happy with how this video turned out when I finished it 🤷♂️😂
Nice work!
Silver would complement that truck nicely.
Thanks! The scope of the project got quite a bit larger since this video was released, so almost four months later, I still haven't ordered paint yet, but I'll probably be ordering it soon!
@@WaldosWorld @Waldo's World No doubt! All in due time. I did a Cummins swap in my 3500HD a few years back; Your gonna love it. Good call with the Eaton and seat upgrade!!
Keep up the great content!! Love the channel!
You should weld the washers on the sheet metal itself
I have cloth Bonneville Seats in my 97 Suburban.
I went back to the beginning and I'm going to go thru them in order. Thanks for the great work. We get up to Springfield, Vt. a lot, are you close to there?
That's awesome, thanks for watching! I'm in southern NH, so sort of close to there 😂
Tractor Gray with raptor lined bumper's
nice music and nice jobs!!!!!....congratulations Waldo
Thank you!
Love the videos. I just bought a 1998 3500hd with the 6.5.... do you have any idea what your truck weighed as a cab chassis? Thanks
Thank you! I haven't weighed it myself (yet), but I've been told that the 84" cab to axle weighs 6,500 lbs without a bed
Late but blue hammerite with clear coat to smooth
Late to the party but I like blue with a dark grey bed and wheels
I just ordered the paint (finally!) a couple days ago 😂. I ended up going with a metallic silver for the cab, though I'm not sure what color to paint the bed 🤔
Close to the steering wheel? It’s actually good for a long haul
Did you look at possibly incorporating the original seat rails in your new seats?
I didn't really look into it that much because it seemed too difficult. The old bench seat only has two rails for the whole seat, so I'd need to fabricate two more rails anyway so each new seat could have two rails
Please help me find the front seats to my 1990 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special with the 22-way seats in navy leather. Buick also has them in their 1989 Electra ultra.
Dude where have you been waiting on excavator videos please
Why tig and not mig?
Mostly for practice. MIG would have been a lot easier and faster though
@@WaldosWorld is there a difference in strength? For what situations would I need a tig? Should I buy one? Or just stay with my mig?
No, the strength is similar. TIG gives you a lot more control and is therefore better with welding thin material. TIG is a lot harder and more time consuming though, so it's really not worth it unless you really need the extra control. MIG would have been the better option here except that I just want to get better at TIG welding 🤷♂️
@@WaldosWorld ok cool thanks!
Looks like how my wife has her seats everytime I drive her SUV knees are in my chest
In us OG days we only got BENCH SEATS FOR A PU TRUCK..THATS SO THE CHEER LEADER BETTY SUE CAN #NUGGLE UP AGAINST YOU 2HEN YOU TRAVEL DOWN The road….LATER PUT ALL THE KIDS IN THE FRONT SEAT……JUST SAYING….
