    is there a sign where we can exchange the confirmation we get online to the real ticket? or you just find a locket anywhere with less people?

    There are 2 stations in Shanghai. One is at city centre. The city centre station have special counter for foreigners. But departure destinations limited.

      There are actually more than 2 stations in Shanghai. We have videos explaining three of them: the Shanghai (main) station, Shanghai Hongqiao and Shanghai south station.

    I'm there next month, helpful video thanks. Can online tickets be collected on a day prior to travel, or does it have to be on the day? I would rather get them sorted a couple of days beforehand.

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  Před 7 lety +3

      No problem. Once your tickets have been purchased, they can be picked up at any time at any train station in China.

    • @ChinaDIYTravel

      Once they are purchased, the tickets can be picked up at any time and anywhere in China, not just your departing station.

    Thanks for the video...I plan to go to Shanghai next week and will have a side trip to Hangzhou by train from this station. Is it possible to purchase the ticket on the spot?

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  Před 6 lety +2

      There are many trains all day long to Hangzhou. Unless it is a holiday or a weekend, tickets should be available. Probably not for the "next train" though. You may have to wait an hour or two for your departure. Also some trains are more popular and those sell out more quickly. So if you want a very specific train then you can consider booking it ahead.

    very helpful!
    I have a question - How did you get the tickets confirmation on mobile, did you pre-book the tickets? If yes, how?

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  Před 7 lety +4

      Yes we prebook our tickets most of the time. Once the tickets are paid we sent you the confirmation number along with text in Chinese for the taxi driver and for the clerk at the station. You can have this information on your phone, print them or write them down on a piece of paper. Visit our website at www.china-diy-travel.com

    How many hours we should prepare there before departure?

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  Před 5 lety +1

      If you already have your tickets, 30 minutes. If you need to pick-up tickets, one hour just in case but this should leave you with time for food.

    hi there, is it a better idea to take subway from hongqiao airport terminal 2 to the train station or should I just walk.? as I only have hour and a half to get off the aiport and catch the train,

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  Před 7 lety +2

      I would walk. The subway goes faster than you walk but you waste time buying tickets and waiting for the train.

    How can you check the seat number?

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  Před 5 lety +3

      It is on the right-hand top corner of the ticket. At the 2min.32sec. point of the video, you can see that the ticket is for carriage number 6 and seat number 10B. When you book with us, we also provide you with this information once the tickets are paid by you.

    Hi again...is 30 minutes enough to catch the train since the moment you arrive at Hongqiao station? Station looks pretty busy in the video at 4pm!!

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  Před 7 lety +2

      It is busy but if you go to the counters inside the station rather than those at the lower level, there are much fewer people. In the video, you can see some long lines but where we picked up our tickets, there was no one in front of us. Having said that, 30 minutes is a bit tight. I'd shoot for 45 minutes at this station as you never know ahead of time that something might go wrong.

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  Před 7 lety

      Yes but go in the station to get your tickets. It is faster.

    It looks like you went from Taxi -> Hongqiao Metro Station -> Hongqiao Train Station. Is it possible just to take the taxi directly to Hongqiao Train station? I'm asking because I expect to arrive at PVG Pudong airport, and then go to Hongqiao Train Station to reach my destination city.

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  Před 6 lety +2

      Iif you take the bus from Pudong to Hongqiao, the bus stops at the train station first. If you take a taxi from Pudong, then the taxi will just drop you at the train station. If you arrive at Pudong, check our video about the airport: czcams.com/video/HG5FiNYQbOw/video.html

    • @JM.TheComposer
      @JM.TheComposer Před 6 lety

      China DIY Travel - China Train Ticket Booking I don't get it. In this video, you took a taxi and it looks like you were dropped off at the Metro, not the train.

    • @ChinaDIYTravel
      @ChinaDIYTravel  Před 6 lety +2

      The metro is underneath the train station. The taxi drop off that you see at the beginning of the video is the train station. Taxis cannot drop you at the subway in Hongqiao in any case as the subway as no "outside" access.

      China DIY Travel - China Train Ticket Booking - So if the metro and train station are in the same building, and the taxi dropped you off there, why were you on the metro at 0:38, *after* you got out of the taxi?
      Edit: OK I see, you were showing 2 separate ways of arriving at Hongqiao station.

      Wikipedia says so but I fell that Guangzhou south is larger. Maybe Hongqiao has more traffic.
