You never clarify if the worn bush on top should be replaced before install??? Or clarify if there should be no bush in there at all before install. If iam hearing right then i leave it out with no bush at all before install.

Why would I want to go with a short shift over the long throw on the Supra. Does it make the driving experience different? Sorry, never heard of a short shift till recently.

Your main contact points when driving your performance vehicle are through the steering wheel, shifter, clutch/brake/accel pedals and the "seat of your pants". In the modified car world we improve engine performance, braking, handling all to improve the driving experience in all these areas....and replacing your factory long throw, loose and vague shifter with a short shifter is really no different. Having had said that, a short shifter is not for everyone, as the trade off is a bit more physical effort to change gears. When modifying it is good to think about what you want out of your car, what it's main downfalls are and then work out where you want to spend your money to get the result you want.

Brought one of these exact kits this week, just installed it. It shifts well, but boy is it tough, do the bushings soften over time allowing the shifter to be smoother and easier to engage gears?
Hello Kalum, Our short shifter will free up over time as the mechanism wears in, but even after break in it will be a heavier to shift than the stock. However the benefits are a much shorter, more direct shifter throw. Plus the loose, rubbery vagueness of the stock shifter is largely removed as well.

Kalum Brown may be a little late but i have the same shifter. Definitely a chore to shift sometimes but ive recently installed the factory toyota bushings instead of using that came with it and 100% night and day. Shifts are short yet nice and smooth now.

Hi. Yes, our main office is in Australia! We have had lots of customers that have fitted an R154 into an LH/LX Torana's. Castlemaine Rod Shop, should be able to help out with the conversion bellhousing etc and we can of course provide you with an awesome short shifter! With the R154 itself, they have 4 different shifter locations, in the LH/LX you want to get an R154 with the shift position as far forward as possible, to have the shifter in a factory type location.
Does this work with a w45 transmission? Everything looks the same based on my comparison. I just don’t have a 5th gear

What if i want short factory knob ?? Bcoz that very long ..
The shifter lever on our short shifter has a 12 x 1.25mm thread so you can still use your factory shift knob. The overall height of our shifter should be the same as factory, if you would like to confirm the height and dimensions , contact us a service@cubespeed and we can send you the dimensions.

You could cut our supplied lever to make it a little shorter. Just keep in mind that the shorter you make the lever the shorter the shift and the more effort required to change gears. If you shorten the lever by 50mm for example it will make the shift 10% shorter and it will take 10% more effort to shift gears.
