Shin Megami Tensei 4 Boss Isabeau (LAW) [MASTER]
First time playing through SMT4 series.
This game has been recommended to me multiple times.
I've decided to exclude the additional choices from the main story and just keep it full top screen (Beside in Boss fights). Every option I choose are CHAOS answers.
Pre-ordered a 3ds built in capture card a while ago 2016 (February) from Keity, but it takes around 5 months for them to make/ship it (I received it July 8th). Originally I had a 3ds XL just for this game, but the screen on a handheld device was just way too annoying to play on, and I'm not a fan of that but now I can play 3ds games on a monitor/tv with a lot bigger screen and it's a lot better now. - Hry

Tfw God wants no weeaboos in his millennium kingdom
A lot of people don't get why Merkabah mentioned the manga. Isabeau was aligned with Law until she began to read the manga and began to understand humanity. The creativity and emotion of the manga caused her to break away from the church. She began to see the Unclean Ones as people like her. She gained knowledge starting with her curiosity about the manga and knowledge is forbidden. The manga is symbolic of her journey.
I get it, and I understand that joking about it easily distracts from the value of the statement, but I just can't get over the FIRST thing Merkabah talking about is Isabeau being a filthy manga enjoyer and therefore in need of death.
That's why Merkabah is based. Hail YHVH!
I thought that it was because books turned people into demons and corrupted them to begin with, so by reading manga she became corrupt even if she didn't become a demon.

@@theluminousone5883The books corrupted them by making them aware of their status as cogs for the luxurors. Lilith most likely gave them books on communism and political philosophy. The emotional rage was so intense it made them demonic in nature as we see demons thrive off of human thoughts and emotions.

Remember. Books (specifically the abstraction of knowledge that books grant) caused the citizens of Mikado to turn into demons. Merkabah is pretty clear cut on how he feels about those that disobey his lord, but they also probably don't want to risk any of the old world entering the new, lest those events happen again. The books she read were about romance, and freedom: concepts that literally drove people to madness when they were presented.

Though before the events of the game went down Isebeau was reading said books and didn't go insane. She even passed her Samurai test without being kicked out.
I feel that would merit it to still be a dumb line in context (intended for humor im sure) as it was not the books that drove her to be defiant. Merkabah would know that best of all as Merkabah was there before she had done so.
@@marialuke2116 when I say books, I meant foreign media. books don't literally turn them into demons, it's the significance of the Japanese media that does it. Plus Isabeau, to be fair, is a lot more strong willed or smarter than a majority of the peasants you end up meeting.

I'm so glad I used a guide and did the neutral route. I didn't know the Law wanted a Tokyo genocide. Seeing the death of a girl that was fighting for a good reason is tragic
One thing I noticed about the demons she used against Flynn and Lucifer/Merkabah is that in the law route, her demons are chaos aligned. While in chaos route, she uses mostly two law aligned demons and one that can be debately law aligned if we were to follow actual history.
(Athena is law aligned, Valkyrie is debatable as she was mostly neutral but in SMT V she is neutral law and Jeanne d'Arc is neutral. Which doesn't make much sense, considering she is a saint so she may as well be law aligned as well.)

Made myself chose all the wrong dialogue choices when I fought her and Lucifer, I just couldn't bring myself to. Didn't help that I was completely against Merkabha, and was just stuck on law

One of the coolest fights in all of Megami Tensei History. Not because of gimmicks but because of the emotion tied to it. Fighting to death with old friends for what you believe in. “Keep in mind that many people have died for their beliefs; it's actually quite common. The real courage is in living and suffering for what you believe.”
was said by Christopher Paolini and all though this doesn't really apply to this scenario SMT has always been placing aside your feelings and making a choice for a world cursed to death because if you don't well everyone will die and countless lives will have been uselessly lost. Not everyone has the strength to sway the forces of law and chaos but those who do its their right no, Responsibility to pick a side and choose. Isabeau was one of those people she choose and died for what she believed in and that was the people of Tokyo.

Apparently, to even get to the neutral ending you have to do some specific quests, etc which most new players would probably miss. so Atlus wanted to crush your soul

Do Isabeau's demons change depending on what route you fight her on?
Yes. On Chaos she summons demons that focus on Magic, while on Law she summons demons that focus on Physical attacks.
@@theomnigamer9177 A year late here but not only that, but on Law Route she uses Chaos-aligned demons and vice versa on Chaos Route with the exception of Jeanne d’Arc (who is Neutral in IV)

Hey, I've been watching your videos for a while now - it's amazing and SMT IV is a masterpiece. Any tips on emulating this game? Afraid I can't acquire a 3DS just now but I got a fairly decent PC.
Aside from some minor graphical errors this game runs rather nicely in emulators.

@@christopherbravo1813 It is morally sane when compared to the two other only "solutions". One involves nuking japan, the other involves releasing a fucc ton of demons into Japan. And then, we have the neutral ending, an ending where no one directly gets hurt from your actions. It should be pretty obvious which one results in the least of deaths.
For being the final boss of the chaos route, Merkabah isn’t all that helpful in this fight.

All routes are somehow chaotic. Neither side feels at right in control (in Chaos you literally lead the city to be basically on fire with everybody fighting for life, which isn't particularly "good" either, while the Law ending feels like an empty victory).
Problem is: long term implications of each route. People mad about this route for this scene are just salty because the man on the sky they don't believe in will judge them for being weebs. 🤣
if you choose chaos route you're an even worse person.
if you choose neutral then you're just hopelessly naive.
if you choose ending four, then you clearly have mental health issues.
