  • We took this grandpa 3rd gen and gave it a clean, modern refresh while staying in a budget. No other suspension system at this price point can match ride ride of these Carli tuned signature series shocks and springs either! There’s no reason to do a cheap level with stuff like this available!

      Would the truck look fine without the add a leaf rear? I am looking at just leveling the front with the carli starter kit but wasn’t gonna do the rear add a leaf because it adds like $500 to the lift. I need 4 shocks so wasn’t considering the carli leveling system kit which only has front shocks. Thoughts?

    Cant agree more. I have an 06’ I did a similar set up on. I also have a steering box stabilizer, read head stealing gear, and crossover steering and track bar (7/8th hiems kit from rough stuff). The truck drives like a modern SUV now. I actually got hit buy a mid size sedan at 60 and I assumed the Carli control arms would be trashed.. the frame bent before the control arms or DOM tube (steering) did.. incredible.

The stock ride is abysmal, and im trying to figure out ways to improve it without rebuilding the entire suspension. can you guys help me out?
    the truck is used to transport furniture and supplies 190 miles on highway roads from state island to southern new jersey.
    Goals with the build are to increase the mpg, smooth out the ride, and get new tires/wheels. it is not the diesel engine either because nj/ny state laws are strict on diesel and i didn't want to deal with that. its the updated late model 04 5.7L v8 with the 365 hp.

    @DAKOTANSHELBY Před 3 lety

    I have a 3rd Gen 3/4 ton and need to replace the existing 35x12.5 VorTrac tires. They will not balance and requires more weights than reasonable. Plus the side walls show dry rot cracking in only a few years of service. I might consider the 37s, but I already have issues with tire scrub on lower control arms during turns. 37s will be worse. How does the Carli control arms avoid this scrubbing with 37s? And does your tires, as shown, balance reasonably well without needing to add balance bead bags? Thanks.

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  Před 3 lety

      Wheel specs are key to rubbing the arms. To fit 37s on a Ram you need a 8.5-9” wide wheel with +18 to +25 offset. To make that work these arms also have a fabricated notch to offer more tire clearance at full lock. With a quality tire like Toyo, Nitto, BFG etc you should only use a few ounces of weight! These balanced great.

    Serious question, how would this setup work with towing an RV? I have a 3rd gen diesel and it's primary purpose is towing our RV. I figured the ride quality was just how trucks drove, but I've seen a few videos now that talk about the ride quality after upgrading only the suspension on these Dodges. But will I see adverse effects (gas milage, towing capacity, tire wear, etc) from this kind of upgrade?

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  Před 11 měsíci

      This particular system (and really any Carli system) can be set up with either the stock rear leaf packs for stock capacity, or one of the Carli leaf packs and airbag kits for better ride and stock capacity. Aside from cost to make it happen, there's really no downside to upgrading suspension with a proper system like these!

    What do you guys use for hubs? Can this suspension handle heavy towing?

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  Před měsícem +1

      We use SKF or Timken for factory style, and then Yukon and Dynatrac if you want to upgrade to free spins. All of these systems can handle towing quite well and we offer load supplementation options for them as well.

      This truck is on the factory sway bar with Carli end links. If you want to improve the ride though you can always go for the Torsion Sway Bar!

    I have a 3rd gen. 2005 3500 Quad Cab SRW with the SWB. I tow a camper with it. Would like to upgrade suspension for better ride but keep the towing capacity. What would you recommend?

      @CJCOffRoad  Před 3 lety +2

      This system should do the trick! To maintain full tow capacity you can keep your factory leaf springs, or do this add a pack system and remove the overload on your pack. If the camper has extremely heavy tongue weight, you can also do a Firestone bag and daystar cradle system.

      Keep an eye out on Gateway Car Connection out of Missouri. They have alot of 1st, 2nd and 3rd gen Rams , as well as OBS F250/350’s. I bought an 05 Ram 5.9 4x4(89k miles when purchased)from a dealer in Salt Lake City. I ordered a Backcountry kit that i should be receiving soon.

    Hey man, I love the channel. I am looking at BDS but found your and I'm wondering if you could give a comparison on some difference so I can make the right decision?

    • @CJCOffRoad
      @CJCOffRoad  Před 3 lety +1

      BDS is a lift kit company, so their goal is height increase. With their systems you’ll see ride quality similar to or worse than stock depending on the height. Carli is a suspension system company, so you’ll see massively improved ride, but less lift height options than brands like BDS that are made to achieve X or Y desired height for looks.
