"Paper was expensive for Ramanujan"
This hit hard
yeah... nowadays you can have 15GB for free on Google Drive...
He even used to practice on temoles walls
It doesnt tho
makes sense that this is why and how he trained himself to do so much in his head.
@Tushar Kashyap i am a teen and i was always sad for putting my mom in a hard financial situation because exercise books are expensive.
So many geniuses in this world have been lost to the winds because of their location, social status, circumstance. All children deserve and have a right to an education. So many more known geniuses in the world would help us advance into a better society with greater speed.
Agree. The education systems in many countries need revision so that these people are not lost.
The other thing wrong with many education systems is the assumption that all children develop their learning at the same pace. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have seen kids who failed a year at school, just because their minds weren't ready at the time, who were given a second chance and turned out to be brilliant students.
It's the education system that's fucked up,
@@vk2ig education system all over the world needs reform.
Madness of degrees and certificates need to be stopped.
Exact thoughts here!
What I find more disturbing in the year 2020 is what Google says: How many girls don't go to school? According to UNESCO, there are an estimated 130 MILLION girls between the ages of 6 and 17 out of school. 15 million primary school-aged girls will likely never enter a classroom in their lifetime. (And they will raise more children.)

@Maria DAHMANI instead of the movies I would suggest everyone to read the biographies of Turing and Ramanujan it will give better understanding of their intellect and struggle.

Indian civilization actually had unique approach to mathematics, its clearly evident in the Architecture.
Most of the ancient Gurus like Aryabatta and Bhaskara and sages even before them also pioneered in many fields but sadly we lost many documents.
yes brother namaste
For them these works were just common sense so they did not publish them.
Publishing is the new propaganda of US, to keep the publishing means the society's will get meoney and this fucking vicious cycle goes on an on. See Russia they have more scientific discoveries but they didn't published it in earlier days.
@gaurav kohli even india had their own trigonometry, the decimal system. Indias systems where much complex that they had time system from 10-⁷ to 10²². Imagine using 1/1687.5th of a second using in their time system and basic unit of time called lipa which is 0.4 seconds to the calculations older than the age of this universe. Pyramids are one thing but Kailasha temple is another the sheer amount of stone that scooped out of the temple complex can put together to build a structure bigger than pyramids and yeah they have less degradation than pyramid overtime.
@gaurav kohli for your information i would like to tell you
Aryabhatta was the first one to formulate the present form of sine and cosine table. The formula sin(a+b), cos(a+b) was first proved by Bhaskaracharya,he was first to suggest the idea of circular functions.Madhava of Sangamagram was the first to formulate the infinite series for sin, cos, tan and even for inverse too.Ancient Indian scholars were more fond of their work rather running for so called 'fame' like the western world.

The guy was a crazy mysterious guy. He claimed that a Hindu deity told him various equations, his most equations are still a mystery the ones which are solved are used to study black holes. How could he derive an equation which is useful in something which wasnt even hypothesis at that time .
Do you even know how equations work?

@@FranziskavonKarma triggered westerner
@@FranziskavonKarma What on earth does a statement about Ramanujan have to do with someone understanding what an equation is?
@@jawad9757 i think he was saying that you can derive an equation independent of an actual application. Ramanujan derived equations that were later used for black holes without him knowing black holes existed. It's like how Lorentz transformations were derived by someone, but the tranformations had no use until Einstein figured out a use and began applying them.

Ramanujan didn't just see the equations in his mind, rather he claimed they popped into his mind as he slept after praying to a Hindu goddess.
Yup tapping into the universal conciousness
That essentially means he tapped into his subconscious.
@@ayushthumbarathy3961 How do you know it didn't come from the goddess in a dream?
You know that was a worst thing he said.
These was the only reason he lacked.
@@garymartin9777 How do you know it weren't aliens? How do you know you were alive 5 seconds ago? How do you know you aren't in a matrix?
It's the absence of specific evidence.
Ramanujan created some mysterious algorithms in his mind through which he discovered many mathematical equations But he was actually unable to explain that algorithms to others because the algorithms are like inbuild in his brain. Definitely he was God gifted genius.
Ramanujan and many ancient indian scientists connect spirituality with science ,they all said that they are finding the face of god in their equations.

He might have chosen not to write proofs so that people would call him to show the proof for his work...
Big brain
LOL 🤣
"I have a proof of this theorem, but there is not enough space."
Just like how, on math forums(like stackexchange, mathexchange, etc.) one should write WRONG answers along with the questions he wants to ask, so that more and more people answer his question in order to correct him.
He didn't write the proofs because he didn't have any.
@Peter Mortensen I'll explain what I said with an example- let's a you want to want get a answer for this question- "what is the sum of first n natural numbers?", you dont know the answer but you know that the answer definitely isn't say 2n, so now you can either ask you question like this-" isn't 2n the sum of first n natural numbers, if not, then what is?" Or simple directly as the original question and use another account to answer yourself wrongly, that way, others will jump in on an opportunity to correct someone else and feel superior.....
And this actually works better than just asking the question normally
There was literally nothing theoretical or abstract within the original Cambridge mathematical tripos: it was basically a mammoth exercise in rote learning, and garnered a young graduate huge social and later professional prestige, no matter their eventual field, if they topped that year’s examination results’ roster, thus gaining the title of “Senior Wrangler;” which is how people like later Prof. Bertrand Russel ended up taking that particular course, then moving to logic, and eventually finding world fame as a philosopher of the mind.
Though Russell was home schooled, anyway, it was universally common for those embarking on this mammoth endeavour, who had the means, to employ a private tutor in their task: such as the man who authored this volume.
There is one video in Tibees channel where she gives various professors and Computer Scientists to analyse the Indian JEE ADVANCED exam.
In this video one of the professor mentioned about the Cambridge Mathematical tripos and referred to a letter wrote by G.Hardy where G.Hardy criticised the tripos. Its a good read :)
Great comment. Thanks.
Not many people may be aware but the present prime minister of Singapore was also a Senior Wrangler, in addition to being a computer science graduate and is also a graduate in public administration from Harvard, thus perhaps making him the brightest politician on the world stage right now, in complete contrast to the present occupant in the White House! 😂
Omg thank you so much for sharing this, i will read the book and also become the next Ramanujan!

How about doing one about S N Bose's letter to Einstein in which he presented his particle-based derivation of Planck's radiation equation?
Also, I read somewhere that Einstein had a little priority quarrel with someone about E=mc^2, with a couple of angry letters being exchanged. Perhaps you could look at that as well.
Maybe the quarrel was with his first wife ... hence the letters?

Henry Poincare had written down E=mc^2 in a slightly different form before Einstein.. Although he didn't really seem to have an understanding of it... Hence the 'quarrel'

Today is teacher,s day in India 🙂
So wish a very happy teacher's day for you🙏🙏
Western mathematics writings have followed the proof method as in Euclid's Elements. Eastern mathematics don't follow that. Indian and Chinese Mathematician have had different approach: study of methods rather than theorem proving. Ramanujan was self-taught so he didn't have the influence of theorem proving system. He was unique.
Ancient Greek mathematics and geometry looks very method-based in comparison to modern mathematics. Greek geometry relied on using a compass and a ruler to construct different shapes, and Greek mathematics was entirely based on crude estimation, which they used to calculate square roots, figure out the area under a conic section, and solve systems of equations. Even though what we have left from them might seem very orderly because of how it's presented in treatises that have survived till the present, it's actually very disorganized and loosely built up. Even many of the findings of modern mathematics, like Leibniz's calculus and most of Euler's findings on algebra and number theory, were at first discovered as the result of playing around with numbers and then generalizing for all possible cases.
Western mathematicians' task since then has been to provide rigorous foundations for what their predecessors discovered.
We need theses kind of CZcams channel which inspires our society towards science!!! That's why I love CZcams. All of your videos are to good. Thank you 3000!!!👍👍
