Another excellent video. Thank you Nick.
Thank you for your videos, I always prefer to see "normal" life in the countries, and not just touristic places. Of course, in Venezuela, that takes a whole different meaning. Please do a q&a video after the series ends, so that you can provide more feedback. Stay safe
Bro mad respect.
It would be nice if you showed a Venezuelan hospital
a guy like lenny is critical for this trip
Your friend Lenny really brought this series to life.
Oh thanks so much I'm reading all of this and makes me happy you like it 🤗 😎
yea, Lenny, geat work.....well done mate, used to live in caracas 30 odd years ago....you explain it all well
You should follow Lenny on Instagram. His photos are amazing! He has some serious talent!

Most extreme and overwhelming you have ever been considering that you have been to places like North Korea, India & Bangladesh is really something. Amazing content. 👍🏼
Those countries are somewhat overwhelming, yes, but the overwhelming part of Venezuela is its impact on your mental state, such desperation, high crime rate and poverty. It is overwhelming because you truly feel for the struggles and violent reality of the local people.
@@IndigoTraveller loveu man greetings from barinas venezuela
@@IndigoTravellerI would have thought north Korea as being less secure as government can jail you anytime. Your feedback is really interesting. Thanx a lot for your videos. Fascinating.

None of this Venezuelan story was objective at all.
Only the anti-government position was discussed at all. Indigo Traveller did not ask anything at all, about what else might have caused the Venezuelan economic crisis.
As a Venezuelan, I thought that you may have wanted some discussion of what might have been the full causes.
Like maybe the fact that the USA has been engaging in an economic war against Venezuela for over 20 years...!?
I live close to Venezuela . That's Trinidad and Tobago. We have so many Venezuelan refugees here. It was quite unreal when they came in droves here . It was really unexpected ; all happened within two months. But they have settled in and receive ID cards so they can work . I barely see them anymore on the streets ..it's strange. Anyway I enjoy your videos . They are interesting and eye opening.
Very interesting, thanks for sharing.
@@IndigoTraveller And you should go and talk to the people of T@T about them !
They started coming to Trinidad about 12 years ago legally by plane and settled in villages closer to the airport. about 5 years ago they started coming illegally in droves followed by the ( Cubans, most of whom went through the Darien to Panama, the on to the USA) some Venezuelans from my area were deported got deported then started coming again. Today there are still many in my area but I believe they are scattered throughout the country. With pandemic it has been a struggle for most, after watching this series I cannot help but have more compassion and understanding about what drove them here as much as it feels like a strain on our small island's resources.
same here on Aruba
Nick,
The Venezuela series attracted me to your channel and I’ve got to say hats off to you Sir, for a great Job! It is hard for people to have an insight, let alone understand the disaster that has befallen on Venezuela. Most viewers will wonder how do people manage to live in such precarious conditions, and will come closer to appreciate the hardships they endure. That this happens in a rich resource country is unforgivable. I only hope that we Venezuelans find the way to days of prosperity and peace.
Ps: Thank you for your contribution to the Petare soup kitchens for our children
Thanks Jorge! Appreciate it big time.
Jorge, you are right, it is so important to learn more from troubled countries because that alone make us appreciate our safer lives a little bit more.
Jorge Daher - unfortunately the US economic war against Venezuela is supported by both US political parties. Indigo traveler should be smart enough to see that Venezuela is being punished for sharing their oil profits with their poor children.
@@SMDAHL - Not interested in an argument with you but… The economic mismanagement that has gone on in Venezuela is the main reason why we are where we are. To put it in perspective: Venezuela received the equivalent of 40 marshal plans during the period from 2000 -2013. (One was enough to rebuild Europe after WWII). The sanctions where originally targeted to Corrupt members of the Government, and only extended in 2018. If Socialism would have created well being for Venezuelans we would not have close 5 million + leaving the country in desperation. I take it you do not live in Venezuela; it is nice to support socialism living in the first world.
Jorge Daher - no worries, we all know there is a pissed off tiny segment of Venezuela that worked for US interests against their own nation and got their comeuppance when the people finally realized us was stealing their oil by bribing people like you
Get out there and spread the word to friends and family so we can get Nick to a million subscribers and more. The best channel to see the world without leaving your house.
Thank you Chad!
I agree!
@Hailey Hedland I can't believe you eat food every day with a comment like that.
@Hailey Hedland he is not exploiting anyone. I think you really don't understand the definition of exploitation, nor do you know anything about Nick. If you did, you know that he gives back to these communities and he is simply there to educate the rest of the world of their peril. I, like most people, never knew the extent of poverty and crime in Venezuela. But now that Nick has educated me, I feel a social need to give and support their citizens. How is this exploitation?
You came to Venezuela in the right moment, to show whats happening, thank you so much for this. Greetings from a Venezuelan in London.
the right moment???when is at the worst moment, seriously and you even thanking him, for making your former country looks worst than it is or you going to tell me that whenever you go there, that's the type of shit you deal with it?? I don't think so Stephanie, you do prolly go and vacation at a decent apartment or house and party with your old friends who knows where, capos, merida, margarita, lecherias, you are sick for enjoying this, your whole thing is prolly well if it looks bad makes the government looks bad, guess what is also making you look bad some how, because you are from there, even I know is bad, but is not what this series is reflecting 90% bad areas, not balance in this series and shame on you for celebrating this.
"Nothing more, nothing less" cool. Well said
Cheers :)
This is good comment a lil kangaroo
My boyfriend and I have been watching every single video you've put out on Venezuela. Thank you so much for this, truly.
The amazing contrast about Venezuela it's that, even when the people live in such a situation, you hear the warming welcome into their homes, the happiness in the childs faces, even the neverending party's at the slums. The situation may have broke our coin, but not our spirit.
Just in case that anyone could thing that the throwing rocks on the highway for robbing people without caring if people die is a lie, I live in Venezuela and that almost happen to me twice, once going with my parents and another with a friend. Is actually stupid go on the highway at night at least it is an emergency and you can’t avoid it... And yes, you can ask for something to buy today and the price is 10 USD and tomorrow the will sell it at 15 USD for no reason.
In a good note, you should really go to Ocumare or La Colonia Tovar. Beautiful beautiful places ♥️
Great work with this documentary series.
Rocks thrown on cars in the highway, it happens in the Francisco Farado, it happens on the Prados del este at the tunnel towards La Trinidad, it happens at the autopista regional del centro, it happens anywhere or everywhere
Alej yes, in every highway and actually, can happen at any hour too...
Bárbara why don't you leave??
Saint Pinewood I love my country, and I’ll fight for it working hard and being a good citizen and a role model for my little cousins... Leave will be my very last move.
Well said. Unfortunately literally millions of your countrymen doesn't think the same.
Glad to see you are safe. Thanks for showing us parts of the world that we would never see. ❤️
Thanks for joining :)

Wow the last comment really broke my heart. The most overwhelming place you've been. I understand what you're saying. It's an eternal feeling of being threatened. And we have to deal with that every single day. I would have loved you to come to Valencia. Thanks for sharing our terrible situation and I hope you come back when we'll be free
I went to La Salle school in Valencia in the early 70s. Our house was in Ciudad Alianza close to Guacara. My first couple of years at school were spent at El Teresiano there. I have wonderful memories of living in Venezuela as a child. ALL my family are now gone, to Panama, US, Germany. So sad...
@@stonew1927 i went to ECA in caracas, its still there and sprawling, just a diaspora of money ashamed to say while locals languish in grinding poverty
Have you been to any other Latin American country at all?
Hearing the plaintive and pleading and innocent voice of this little boy singing his mournful song in the background of so many of your videos in this Venezuelan series is so heartbreaking and emotionally jarring. As I have mentioned in a previous comment, I was born in and spent the first fifteen years of my life 'growing up' - surviving and coming of age really - as an EXTREME MINORITY, I am Caucasian, White - in the twin island nation of Trinidad and Tobago which is majority Black and Asian Indian and which is at its nearest point is a mere seven miles off of the east coast of Venezuela, just across the Gulf Of Paria. That body of water is the playground of both Venezuelan pirates and THUGGISH, BRUTISH and CUT THROAT CRIMINALS from Trinidad. That country is not so far behind Venezuela when it comes to the viciousness of the crime, the rampant poverty and the corruption everywhere you turn, especially in the government. Forty five plus years ago my parents packed us up and we moved to and settled in the USA because we were all born US citizens except for my Mom. I really think that if a whole lot more Americans were exposed to what passes for LIFE - and DEATH - in some of these Third World SHITHOLES like Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago among many others, we would NEVER take for granted the relatively beautiful, peaceful and bountiful lives that we enjoy in my country. I have been Blessed to travel all over this planet before, during and after my career as a United States Army Officer. And what I have seen around this planet in many of the places that I have been to and lived in would SHOCK THE HELL OUT OF MOST NAIVE and SPOILED Americans. I pray for the good and decent people of Venezuela. NO ONE deserves this kind of HORRIBLE, VIOLENT and POVERTY STRICKEN kind of life - especially when the country is sitting on a gold mine of oil and natural gas and it is the INCOMPETENCE and CORRUPTION of the government that is FUCKING IT UP FOR EVERYONE save for the government cronies themselves. Thank you for your wonderful, informative and eye opening videos - especially this Venezuelan series. Cheers!
Nick you look frazzled, Venezuela got the best of you. It's interesting how people are so willing to share their story, even as difficult as a life it is. Epic hotel room/view. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

I'm from Venezuela, living as an immigrant outside my country... that's why I found your channel. Excelent documental work about my country, you have shown me things that I didn't know 'cause I'm not from Caracas and didn't visit it much.
Something that touch me was Hearing from you, that visiting Venezuela is the most extreme travel and the most overwhelming experience... that says a lot coming from someone who travels around the world. Thanks for visiting my country and take care please.

@@josemanuellopez8989 Thank you very much Jose, will take that advice on board...do you think it'll ever get 'safe' again one day? Have a good day ..
@@antostomp Of course I would like to say Yes. But we really need to get rid of the dictatorship goverment that rules right now.
And honestly, we also need to get rid of most of the politicians that make "opposition" to them to be able to restore the country fast when the time comes.
Hi Nick another awesome video. Thanks a lot. I really appreciated your last words reflecting and pondering about this Venezuela trip.
I am quite shock I have seen your trips to South Korea, Eritrea, Irak, Iran... you know what you are talking about, and still you find Venezuela more humbling or emotionally disturbing.
Could you please explain more about this? I guess is not poverty itself since you are used to see it. Is it crime and insecurity? Is it having things before and loosing it? The value of life?
You are one of the few people in the world now who can make an actual and neutral comparison of this few countries.
Very looking forward to it.
Thanks and love 😍
it's hard to explain, but i think it's about how a wealthy country now is in absolultely misery. It''s like the time stop in Venezuela, like walking dead, and the people is just trying to survive
That's right, well said. It's that feeling of people just walking around like zombies.
When the massive blackout occurred a few months ago, I couldn't avoid to get depressed once I went to the street. Everyone was like drove by their most inner sense of surviving and there was like no hope for most of the people out there.
Interesting video! Good to see different perspectives of Venezuela, great job on the video 👍
Appreciate that :)
Now imagine every single day years of this overwhelming feeling
As a Venezuelan, I want to thank you for the great job you have done with this documentary!! 👍🏻👍🏻
My mom lived there for over 10 years in the 90s, where my grandma bought an old chevy, she was driving to work and at the same intersection she got waved through everytime from a Police Officer who operated traffic, of course their were wondering. A few days later, we knew it was the chevy from a former Police Chief of Barinitas/Barinas, because the Officer thought it were the wife of the current Police Chief.
Interesting.

Try to take an airplane to go to other big cities, like Valencia, Margarita island or Maracaibo, also search about Lecherías, a kind of wealthy city in Venezuela

My favorite restaurant there was La Selva Negra. Wonder if it’s still in business.
Yeah It's pretty cool, also lots of great food out there
went to oktober fest there, traditional dress and garb. was surreal
antostomp The architecture is so strange too:
Those German immigrants built houses like in the old country, with pitched roofs so the snow would slide off under its own weight. Snow in Venezuela? Not a big problem.

This series in Venezuela certainly feels a real test mentally for you since it really brings home how disorder, disharmony and subsequent poverty and violence can happen so quickly to masses of people due to a political situation run by a few individuals.
