Not at all... Completely different situation. Also Cuba now has changed a lot recently.
Cuba people had nothing before the revolution and after gained some prosperity from russian money but when this ran out then they carried on. No one had anything whereas in Venezuela people had everything and had so much and the government made bad decisions and paid loads of people over the odds but there wasn't enough jobs etc etc and so when the currency collapsed it collapsed hard - watch a video about it. Cuba was nice when I went 10 years ago but when I went back a few years ago it felt very different

They even vote against any resolution in the European parliament that condemns the Maduro dictatorial genocide of the Venezuelan people. Very shameful and sad!! When i first went to South America in the 1990's, Venezuela was seen as the success envy of every other south American country. It looks to me that Lenny did not explain you that he took you via the scenic route, instead of the main route (via a highway running on the other side of the mountains) that regular tourists would take to get to Chirimena. Even if the highway is (I bet) in bad shape, with the little traffic present now (as a Venezuelan, this is what has shocked me the most in your excellent series so far) you would get to Chirimena in 2 hours at most, although you would have missed those stunning beaches an views. Don't get me wrong, I would have done the same, but by not explaining you what he was really doing, Lenny did a disservice to you and your followers.
He did not explain you either (although a seasoned traveler like you should have figured it out) that practically all the places you stopped along the route are small fishermen towns, not ready nor capable of handling tourists. Note that there was not a single hotel anywhere (tourists typically camp in the beaches), very few restaurants, and that "supermarket" that you visited was probably the only one in town. You do not mention the geographic limitations either, even if the drone flight gives a good idea: in that area, the mountains literally sink into the sea, leaving very small spaces available to build anything.
Had Jose taken the highway instead, he could have driven you to Puerto la Cruz, which is a city with good tourism infrastructure and show you Mochima, perhaps the most beautiful beach in all of the Caribbean. Or, if he had gone west, he could have taken you to Chichiriviche and the small islands (cayos) in the area, which rank right there with Mochima. Those are the places where tourists really go, and would have allowed you to really enjoy and show what Venezuela has to offer to the tourists.
As per the "supermarket", get real: this is a liquor store, and the empty shelves (which I agree are depressing) would normally be filled with snacks and beach gear. This is certainly not the place where locals would go to buy their food (as I said, they eat fish as their main source. They sell the catch in larger cities nearby and buy their vegetables or fruits there, as they have not much land available for farming), as Lenny tried to explain you although it wasn't clear because he was wasted by then.
Having said this, I really love what you do and how you do it. Very few people would have the "cojones" to visit Venezuela, by himself, at this time, let alone trying to present an unbiased view of what is really going on and show the good, the bad and the ugly. I am really looking forward to see the next video in this series, and in the mean time, I am binge watching the other series (the North Korea one is very good).

Freedom of expression? Corruption? Crime? Russians might have lost and you all might have prevented communism/socialism, but on the other hand, your country embraced religious extremism and terrorism; which eventually triggered other lunacies like torture, public persecution and execution, poverty and starvation,...,...! To live in peace and with freedom Afghanistan needs to adopt some kind of democracy, something they have lost and long forgotten some 60+ years ago.

7:45 hi Indigo, talking about Maria, the immigrant from Portugal.
Many Portuguese emigrated to Venezuela during the 40s to 80s in search of a better life.
Now the situation is completely the opposite, some Portuguese and descendants come back to Portugal, others preferred to stay especially the older people because that's where they started their family and got their business.
There are currently around 400 000 Portuguese and Portuguese descendants in Venezuela.
Thank you so much Indigo for leaving Caracas and showing Venezuela outside the capital, many people think it is visiting the capital of the countries that they will see the whole country and people lives this idea is very wrong

Top quality content. Your videos are informative and unbiased. Venezuela seems like a beautiful country. The situation the people there are facing is heartbreaking. Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait for the next episode!

I made it until the fourth minute and I have to stop for a moment to tell you how much I appreciate the montages in this episode. The music is on point! Very nice that you linked, where the music is from :)

Nick I really love your editing. You must put some heavy duty hours into producing them. They're always like watching a TV series. Venezuela looks amazing. Definitely would love to visit one day. Everyone is so nice.

    Dear Nick,
Thank you for your videos. I´ve fallen in love with your series since I found your canal (around 3 weeks ago), and it has become a mourning routine of mine to eat breakfast and watch 2-3 episodes every day. Thanks to you I have had a chance to "visit" Afghanistan, North-Korea and many other places via my screen and I can´t wait to visit the rest of them.
What caught my attention was this: you treat local people ( and animals!) with such respect and warmth that as a viewer I can feel it. You seem to be incredibly humble and genuinely interested in people you meet and places you go and that makes all the difference to your series. You never talk disrespectfully nor are you condescending. And for that I want to thank you. Keep up the incredible job! I wish all the best to you and will definitely continue watching your content. Greetings from Finland!
Ps. I absolutely love your editing and music choices.

Recently found your channel. It's by far the best travel channel on CZcams!!! I love how you just show things as they are, it doesn't seem like you have an agenda!!!

Beautiful Caribbean! I love 🇻🇪! My mother and some relatives still there. Venezuelans never went to other countries as is happening now. People came to Venezuela bc of opportunities. I love that you show and report what you see, that is it. Very good video...(The boxes of food I believe are not for free, it is lower but you need to be in accordance with government)

Just want to say that I've been watching this video series and I am amazed. Not only is your camera work and editing insane but the way you've showcased this country so sensitively is something you should be really proud of. Keep up the good work.

Great video. Thanks for upload this content... it is quite amazing for me to see how life can become so complicated and incomprehensible because of politicians and how people just carry on in order to try to make a day ...

11:34 que envidia mmg! This is great series, keep it up. Good coverage of things. I'm so curious to actually see how things have changed in four years since I was there. It is a mix of sadness, disappointment, nostalgia, and joy...
