My heart literally broke for Lan Xichen. He truly saw the good in Yao and until the end waited for the truth before he condemned him. Killing Yao destroyed him. Actually those moments were some of the most emotional for me 🤧🤧
Did yao really made a move to kill him from the back? Sorry I know I can just see it myself but I'm high-key feeling ish type to see continue seeing this because Xichen is one of my favorite characters. I won't be able to see further if I know that he's gonna get heartbroken.

I know JGY was an evil man, he brought so much pain and suffering in WWX and his family's life, but I also can see JGY's love to LXC was pure.
I can't blame LXC for trusting JGY like a fool. During the time after WWX's death LWJ was too busy coping with his own feeling of losing WWX and almost never available for his brother. At the same time LXC was strugling to rebuilt their home and clan. JGY was there for him and he provide LXC with the help that LWJ can't provide at that time.
Ayana Hiromi Yao also saved Xichen’s life when Lan clan was attacked by Wen. That’s where love and trust began.

I hate Meng Yao for his evil scheming ways. But then I see him with Xichen and wish things would have been different for him. He was loved but he could not realise it.

He didn’t realize he didn’t need to prove himself to be loved by someone. And I think he knew that too late.
Honestly, I'm so glad there are people who sympathise with JGY. Many people think it's condoning all the horrible things he had done in the name of ambition, but it isn't. I don't condone his actions for that matter.
But I honestly he think his path would not have gone that astray and skewered had he been told, reassured, and had been made to see for himself that he has nothing to prove to those who belittle him, because in a lifetime, one person will never run out of people who look down on them for no reason. If otherwise, then JGY will never run out of people to kill, even if he has elevated himself to a god.
Instead, he should've placed all his efforts to the people who cared about him. Nie Mingjue did. Nie Hiusang did. Lan Xichen did. Some of the main characters even respect and harbor no ill will against him as Meng Yao, despite his status.
He might have still been a mastermind whose tactics rely on deception, but honestly we cannot deny that he was still instrumental to the downfall of the overly authoritarian Wen Clan. In another timeline, he would've used his strategy for good, using the same strategies to covertly overthrow Wen Clan while not having much casualties on the Sunshot Campaign's side.

@@greatpost1192 Again, i don't think so, he hurt everyone around him, everyone except LXC, i believe when he said he never thought about hurting LXC, he was the only one who treated MY right from the start and was always good to him, like Xue Yang and Xiao, even without knowing who Xiao was the first to treat Xue Yang well

No, he is just surviving
The most surprising twist in the whole drama for me was when Meng Yao pushed Lan Xichen away from him and towards safety instead of letting him accompany him to the afterlife. I was convinced Meng Yao was just trying to gain sympathy and buy time from his peers through reciting his monologue until that moment. Instead of choosing the more self-pleasurable route and dying with a companion, he selflessly sacrifices his own gain to save a person he cares about. It wasn't until watching the show a 3rd time that I finally felt sympathetic towards him without the cloud of 'he killed shije, Jin Zixuan, Wei Wuxian et cetera' fogging up my objective vision that I finally understood that he is as much a VICTIM as Wei Wuxian himself. Imagine being raised with constant vulgarity around you and when you believe you've finally found a place to belong you are cast away like rubbish in a dumpster. Of course, you would lash out: especially with at least 32years of that same treatment hanging over your head as if it were black death. Had Wei Wuxian remained on the earth for those 16 years without a Lan Zhan or A Yuan to keep him grounded to reality, who's to say his heart would not have turned as dark as Meng Yao's. Were this story told from Meng Yao's point of view, would we have rooted for his means after seeing the bigger picture?
I hace to look for it but there si a post in Tumblr that said that each character in here lived a different genre novel. Like if the novel was told from another pov it wouldn't a romance and second chance but a full court drama politics battlefield.
This pained me..if only Meng Yao wasnt treated so badly I think we could have seen them have a beautiful life filled with love and happiness and I really would have been more than happy to see the other twin jade have a happy life with his beloved Meng Yao
I don't think he could escape that really, what with his lineage. But things would have been very different for him if he had realized sooner how he actually mattered to some people. It was clear the Nie brothers actually cared for him from the start, and Lan Xichen grew fond of him as well. Jin Zixuan himself wanted to know him better when he became JGY, and he would've if it werent for his father. Some of the main cast even respects him despite his lineage, like Wei Wuxian. In another timeline, who knows, they might have been friends. If he had seen all these, then he wouldn't have gone through such great, ambitious lengths just to be seen as equal and worthy of respect, when there were already a select few who did so with Meng Yao.
XiYao and XueXiao are the dark versions of Wangxian. I was much more interested in them in the drama, compared to the novel and donghua in which Wangxian were the leads for me. I wish JGY left for some other clan (preferably Lan) after clearing his name after Sunshot. Killed WRH, leaked Wen information and saved a Clan Leader, a job very veery well done.
The fact that LXC was ready to die with JGY, it always makes me feel so sad and empty afterwards. Not even Wangxian can heal me after that in Untamed (but there was no Wangxian actually)

u've got the 100th like i make > < and i finally got the word 'empty' which is the best word to describe my feeling whenever i think of Xiyao.
People always said that 'the untamed' has a happy ending. But i think it is only for Wangxian. None of the other character got a happy ending. Xiyao, Xuexiao and even Jiangyanli and jinzixuan.
@@shroomblue819 Novel doesn't have happy ending ether in my opinion. Wangxian was a temporarily relief since at least they finally happened. But reading the chapter where LXC left seclusion for a bit, and how he seemed ruined and empty really shows who pulled the shorter end of the stick.
Everyone seems to forget that Jin Ling lost a beloved uncle, he's his already thin family got even thinner.

It hurts but yes, as you said, their relationship is interesting. I'm kind of seeing it mirroring Wangxian but in a opposite kind of way. Yet both Two Jades of Lan believed in someone close to them until the last. But Xichen's trust was broken and Wangji's only became stronger with time. Beautiful edit, btw! The song is really perfect. MengYao isn't as bad as the drama portrayed. You should read the novel, because of it I fell in love with him
Yao was a bad person but bad people fall in love too. It's just that their definition of love is often too twisted to be called that.
He was the villain of this story but he was not a bad person.

i always think if he had to go back and pull the sword out of jgy's body, or maybe someone else did it. either way, i doubt he ever wants to hold shuoyue again. i wonder if they buried jgy and if lxc went to the funeral

@@yeosanglinesstan6996 yea sure. 'Shuoyue' the word means the full moon. It fits that lanxichen was a moon in A-yao's life. We people speak in Chinese have a noun called 'White moonlight' and it means that a person u look up and love a lot. It is between idol and lover.
Xichen left his sword with Yao. The moonlight would forever stay in his heart, in this way.
I can't blame LXC for trusting JGY.. Because among all the people, LXC was the only person whom JGY respected and never thought about harming him in anyway.. All JGY's action towards LXC was real and pure with no malice..

After I read the novel I was just like "shoulder shrugs meh" towards JGY but then CQL!JGY showed up with his dimples and BAM I'm addicted just like that
I really love this couple. Besides yao being evil he truly loved xichen and xichen could feel that yao's love wasn't a lie...
Me being a lover of Meng Yao, even if he was a terrible person, it literally broke me when he said "stay and die with me" some people may find it overly selfish and in a way i agree, but you can tell how terrified Meng Yao was, knowing that he was going to die because of the lost trust of the only person who genuinely cared about him. And you can also tell how it destroyed Xichen after Meng Yao had died, so for me this was probably the most emotional scene/ death that was in this show.

I cried so much with the tragic ending of this pair. It hurts so bad, poor Lan Xichen, and even though I know the things he did I have to say POOR YAO! Xichen was ready to die with him though but until the end Yao didn't want to hurt Xichen, my heart sobs
"The Untamed" here we got to see so many love stories tragic yet beautiful , great ending but this pair was attracted to each other from the beginning ... The way yao died and before dying he pushed him that broke my heart 💔😭. We just can't hate any character in "The Untamed" .
Man i love this pairing, even though there's barely anything on it. Since the moment we met Meng Yao at the beginning i noticed Xichen's interest, and while the ending was certainly appropriate (just like what happened to Xue Yang), doesn't mean I don't end up loving Meng Yao's character anyway. He wasn't wrong - he chose a path that ultimately made it impossible for him to get out of - when a misstep happens he had to take another misstep to cover it up in order to survive. He had gotten to a point where it wasn't a matter of just "leaving" anymore, but rather if found out would've been his death. So to some extent, Meng Yao wasn't wrong when he kept saying "what else is there for me to do?" And i really love how smart he was, despite being played at the end. As a whole I find him to be actually more interesting character than Xue Yang (although the Yichen arc was i think scripted more tragically - notice that the music at end of Yichen arc was really sad whereas throughout ending of the series with Meng Yao's death the music had stayed somewhat combative, so certainly the intention of the scene is different). ANYWAY gosh i need to find more fanart and fanfics, and like maybe have them be in modern day or somethingggggg. anything to let them have a happy endinggggggg.

This reminds me, I always thought it would be nice if someone sacrificed their soul to bring JGY back like Mo Xuanyu did for Wei Wuxian. That would make for an interesting story.

Meng Yau demonstrates that even evil ppl can love others to the point they can’t treat them evilly! He could have taken Lan down with him but he saw Lans willingness to die with him that he couldn’t do it! He truly did love Lan.
Even his wife he loved her but after knowing she was his sister he couldn’t sleep with her. In the book she got pregnant before they married. So he had to marry her and didn’t touch her after knowing she was his sister. So he really was stuck in that situation.
I love how the author explains why Meng. Xue turn out they way they did. They way they can still love ppl deeply.
This is so well done. I loved this couple from the beginning; you could see their attraction and deep caring for one another. When Meng Yao asks XiChen to stay with him, and XiChen just bows his head in surrender... oh my goodness. Then Meng Yao pushes him away but they reach out to each other, knowing that they'll never meet in this life again... This song just really brought all of that home for me. Thank you for this.
I've watched many other The Untamed mv's but oh my goodness I legit got goosebumps watching the entire thing in this one, especially that part in the end Lan Xichen saying "Huaisang... Is it true?"
Great video. My favorite ship actually then comes WangXian. Meng Yao next to WWX the most tortured, if not the most tortured soul in Mo Dao Zu Shi. I keep thinking if he never went to NMJ and stayed on the Cloud Recesses. Or never went back to his father it would be fine. NMJ treated him more like a butler than a friend they weren't really equaled - NMJ's people were still able to look down on him. His father never treated him w/ respect. However, I feel that if he stayed w/ LXC it would be different. As a companion to LXC, no one would DARE speak behind his back and he would hold a high position. His cultivation powers would grow. Ugh...however...too many mistakes. He faced so much hurt.

I agree. Someone so smart as JGY following his damned father for so long and ruining others lives because that greedy pr!ck wanted it, really makes me angry. JGY comes off as naive, stupid and very much played in the end. I wished so much for him to return to Lan clan after he redeemed his name. And I hoped even more that he would be imprisoned in Cloud Recesses after the temple (now I was the naive one while reading TT.TT). I hope XiChen remembers the good memories they shared together, because they were definitely real (that final push proves it)

I feel like the series did such a better job in conveying the emotions than the novel but I guess that’s a given because you can see their expression but man this just amplified their relationship x10

Both characters are my favourite...and more so when they are together...
I think they are very similar... great intelligence, education, grace, elegance,self-restrain and diplomacy...
I think both of the recognise themselves in the other one...in different circustamces ...One has everything and is admired, the other isn't just because of his low birth...and that brought tragedy upon MengYao ...."it's not that he wants to be' a bad man...but why all that things happened to him?" (To quote meng yao himself!)
In the novel, drama, AND webtoon they are PAINFULLY in love

These two actors did an amazing job portraying their characters. The first meeting of these two is everything. Their end is also beyond memorable. On a side note, the biggest plot twist ever nie huaiasang 😳

God DAMN. What well chosen music! Listen, I don't care what anyone says, this pairing was my favorite when watching the drama. I think this video perfectly sums up why. JGY did MANY evil things, but at the very heart of it all their love was PURE.

Three pairings with one person on the "good" side and the other on the "bad" side: Xue Yang and Xiao Xingchen, Meng Yao and Zewu Jun, Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji. Each of their stories is similar and painful. Wei Wuxian's personality and childhood are maybe the only traits that made Wanxian differ from the others... (in the drama)

Hey so I've watched this video countless times now, it's serving as great inspiration for this Xichen character study I'm writing, and I just wanted to thank you so much for creating something so refined. JGY's and LXC's relationship, and the tragic development of it, is so fascinating - there's no denying all the things Meng Yao did, there's DEFINITELY no denying Xichen both loved and was fooled by him, and your video really wraps it all up in one lovely heartbreaking bow.
