  • In this episode, Noel Salas ventures to San Clemente, California to meet up with Matt Biolos and Duke Aipa to review the Puddle Jumper Sting. The collaboration started between Aipa and Biolos to corporate and elevate the "Sting" model. They were passionate to make a detailed version of the "Sting" by engineering the sizing, depth and details to make sure the board did just was it was created to do. Biolos related the Sting to a Wing to make a dangerous weapon -- a more responsive board that can pivot quickly. Close to the Puddle Jumper outline, the new Puddle Jumper Sting incorporates a wide low rocker, single concave, rail rocker and control in the tail. Athletic young surfers like Ian Crone, Rasta Rob and Cole Houshmand are enjoying the Puddle jumper sting in small waves to overhead. Enjoy this board as quad, thruster or twin plus trailer and see where it leads you. Nate Yeomans loves the board as a quad set up at 5'4 at 29L. He thought it was fast, loose and had lots of speed. Aipa goes on to share about how his dad, Ben Aipa's inspiration for the original "Sting" was by watching a hydroplane speed boat and how it accelerated through turns and maintained speed. Then Asa Cascavilla and Noel describe riding the Puddle Jumper Sting in the pool. They said the quad is faster and has more drive, and Noel calls it a "Favorite" for head high to smaller waves. Enjoy!

    Just bought the 6’0 Puddle Jumper Pro and it's a super rad board. It's my first board adding the over 40's and managing injuries volume and it does an incredible job of hiding the volume. for the 1-3 ft days I am debating between the original puddle jumper, puddle jumper HP and the Puddle Jumper Sting. I tried the seaside and just felt the board wanted to flatten out on turns and could not get the rails to sit down. Coming from more traditional shortboards I struggled with it. Curious what you think is the best for for getting up into the pocket.

    I don't have the resources to do this but maybe one day in the future you could. Take a stock range board say, 5'6 and show the 5' 9, 6 2, 6'5 etc versions and demonstrate how the length effects the surfing.

    Fast n responsive
    Turned sharp
    Wasn’t ready for the speed 1st run
    Setup as thruster think I’m gonna keep it so far I liked it just gotta manage

    Awesome show, would love to see more of these videos with the shapers on specific designs.
    Hey Noel, i'm tossing up between getting a Pyzel Astropop or a Lost RNF 96, what would you say were the biggest stand out differences between these two?
    Keep up all the awesome work, loving this channel!
    Cheers!

      Astro pop is more of a Groveler. The 96 is a 1 board quiver for 2-8’ surf

  • @nato02_
    @nato02_ Před 8 měsíci +1

    Between this new PJ sting (black sheep) vs. Rocket Wide (spinetek). Vs. RNF 96 (black sheep) what is your ultimate groveler for Lowers, Church, Uppers, HB waves? I’m a front footer.
    ( btw, you look so explosive on the Rocket Wide)
    I have been a big fan of yours and your epic reviews. Your reviews had made me buy some of my favorite all time boards. I have a puddle jumper HP epoxy and love it but it’s time to buy a new groveler.
    Keep the good work Noel, we are here cheering for you.

      @surfnshowreviews7777  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Cheers for the kind words. Since you’re a front footed surfer I say RNF 96. In smaller surf you can shred it as a pure Twin fin with my HP Twins… next level fun.
      To ride the 96 as a daily driver in 3-6’ surf you will love it with my Pivot Twins + Trailer

    How much of a difference do you think there is between this and the lost x libtech puddle jumper? My old 5'3" libtech pj had a wing just behind the front fin boxes. This looks very similar only the wing is in front of the boxes, just wondering how much this changes the feel of the board. Thanks for a solid vid as always.

    Would you choose the puddle jumper sting or rocket wide for SoCal knee to chest high days? I keep going back and forth between those two for a small wave performance board/ groveler.
    I am 6’3, 190lbs and I currently have a 6’0 S Boss which I really like for stomach to head high waves with some push so I want something for the smaller/ slightly weaker days.

    • @surfnshowreviews7777
      @surfnshowreviews7777  Před 9 měsíci +1

      The PJ Sting is more of a Groveler. The IFT is a HPSB. The IFT needs a bit of a wave to go good… it has some rocker

    Hi.
    I am looking a small wave board for compliment my quiver (S Boss and DHD Eclipse) but I am undecided between some boards....
    Mashup, RNF96, Storms TT White tiger and PJ Sting?
    What's your recommendation?
    Thanks so much

    • @surfnshowreviews7777
      @surfnshowreviews7777  Před 3 měsíci +1

      The PJ Sting is super fun!! If the waves are 1-3’ and mushy then go White Tiger or PJ Sting.
      If the waves are 1-4’ with a bit of push then go 96 or Twin Turbo

      @surfnshowreviews7777  Před 9 měsíci +3

      Good comparison… the WT might have a little more down the line speed. The PJS offers excellent drive through turns with a Quad setup and gets into the lip quicker

    Hey Noel I'm up for a hip replacement and it's of course my back leg that gets most of the force. Was your replacement full? How does it feel? Like you have a piece of inflexible steel in your hip? Because that's what I'm worried about - the inflexibility of the implant. Any tips?

    • @surfnshowreviews7777
      @surfnshowreviews7777  Před 9 měsíci

      Yes, I had full hip replacement. My hip is doing great… there are some limitations but the pain is gone in the hip joint. It also causes a lot of pain in my groin area.
      The hip replacement was absolutely a good idea for me.
      The piece in my leg does not feel like it’s not flexible. I just got to work out the scar tissue and stretch a lot to stay loose but that’s normal for me even with my good hip
