Hey Tim, I am 46, 5'8" and was at a whopping(ya, lotsa whoppers) 205lbs(about 29% body fat) last December 25th 2017. I did the 3 day fasting once a month from Dec.2017-April 2018 and cut my carbs intake by about 80%. January 14th I weighed in at 194lbs(27.2%body fat). Feb. 24th, weighed in at 183(24.5% body fat). Last weigh in April 7th @ 173.8lbs(20.7% body fat). Currently floating between 182lbs. And 184lbs, while Working on strength and flexibility. Just wanted to share👊🏽

I used to be moderately overweight, not obese, so maybe not the best person to weigh in. But I ended up having the best success slimming down by doing just bullet proof coffee in the morning, then typically eating a few eggs around noon or 2 pm along with some mixed nuts (add in some veggies if possible) and making salad and cruciferous veggies as the center peace of dinner and try to eat before 8 pm. So my regimen was kind of like time-restricted eating, but not quite because of the bullet-proof coffee. Anyway, this worked for me more than anything else and I am still one lean mofo.

I heartily agree with your two recommendations! And 1 TBSP of full-fat cream is exactly what I put in my 4 ounces of brewed coffee in the mornings! Eating within 30 minutes is amazing advice! I do get one meal with 30 g of protein and a lot of leafy greens, but I didn't have a time preference on that, except that I tried to have it no later than noon or 1pm - I eat 6 times a day in a very structured way, and I lost over 130 pounds (half of me). I'll have to try having it as my first meal of the day and see how I feel, if it makes a difference for me! Thanks for the tips Tim!

    Fat Loss 101:
    1. Consume less calories then you burn. Its called calorie deficit. You want to have at least 200-400 kCal in negative per day.
    2. Keep your insulin low. This will let your body use fat as energy source. Keep insulin low by not eating sugar and simple carbs (bread, pasta, rice, potatoes etc)
    3. Keep your calorie deficit constant by keeping your metabolism constant. The only way you can keep your metabolism constant while eating fewer calories is by doing EXERCISE. If you don't exercise, your body will adapt to your low calorie needs and your calorie deficit will go down. So exercise may not be important to burn a lot of calories but it is very important to keep your metabolism high.
Have these 3 conditions and you will burn fat.

skip breakfast. intermitten fasing is the key.
not only you eat less, feel better and loose weight - it also shapes your willpower.
People just eat too much! we are human beings, and for 400 000 years we have been eating small amount of foods, maybe one or two times a day, and then maybe a day or two without food at all!
now, we are bombarded with teories that we have to eat 6 meals a day! eat less, feel better!

So if you read for example 4HB very carefully you'll see this concept behind all of his ideas. Make it as easy as possible to stick to your new habits.

Unfortunately, No studies where calories are equated have shown benefits of IF no matter the procotol.
I dont think IF isnt a good way to lose fat, it's just not sustainable over long term. If it can help you reduce your daily overall calories consume, do it. But breakfast sera your neurotransmitters for the rest of your day, helping in satiety and preventing cravings thus making it Even more important to have a healthy breakfast.

I recently discovered something that really is working for me, and it’s having a protein shake (frozen smoothie) right before I go to bed. I’m 67, vegan for 8 years and in really good health, meaning no aches and pains and no internal issues to my knowledge and not more than 10lbs overweight. Bcuz I’ve always loved ice cream and don’t (won’t) eat that anymore, I was cheating on one food which was a very cleanly sourced and made frozen yogurt style ice cream treat (not vegan I know) but still I’d eat that. After reading about the protein shake before bed I started making mine with chocolate protein powder & coconut milk, banana, blueberries, spinach, frozen peas, oats, flaxseeds, chia seeds, walnuts/almonds, some cocoa powder and maybe some zucchini, and in a week I dropped 5 hard pounds I was wanting to get off. After the 5 lb loss, I added back my 3mile fast walking on my treadmill that takes me 54 minutes at some point before bed, and that other 5 lbs came off too. So there’s definitely something to that having protein right before bed! My frozen smoothie equals about 3 cups worth and it’s really pretty tasty, imo.

i did a deep dive into collagen and bone broth from a wrinkles and gut health pov, and no. It's better to upregulate glutathione. I SOOOOO wish it worked, but alas it doesn't. Tons of mainstream media hyping it and Kettle&Fire will argue but their science isn't strong enough.

Hey Tim! Huge fan, need help- my dad has jaw locked coz of tobacco since several years ( he left taking it then) trying to figure out way to open it since we tried many ways. He couldn't able to open it more than one figure. Suggestions will be huge help.

I had lock jaw twice. The remedy was having wisdom teeth removed. They had to use baby instruments to get the anesthetic in. Stress can cause lockjaw. I’ve been fine for 20 years. It was frightening. So I empathize with your father. Go to very skilled oral surgeon. Mine was recommended by my dentist who is top notch.

Depends on your preferences. If you need to be productive in the morning, intermittent fasting is the way to go. Plus there's countless other benefits to IF, but it comes down to the individual. Don't buy into the "one size fits all" solution, find what works for you.

Love the advice, not a fan of EVER advocating losing 15-20 lbs/month. As a trainer/coach, this creates a poor, negative relationship with food and losing weight/fat. Key is to preserve muscle tissue. So losing that much is going to dramatically compromise this. Advice is great. Speaking of that much fat or weight loss in a month, not ideal from a psychological or longevity standpoint for most people.

How to lose weight for dummies:
Be in a calorie deficit every single day consistently.
Sleep 7-9 hours per day, preferably 9.
    Eliminate stress.
That's basically the be all and end all, there are 101 ways to speed up the process, just stick to the basics, they work.
    To speed things up:
Drink only water (a gallon a day preferably)
    Lift heavy
Add in some cardio (This is not necessary, believe it or not).
