    I have a Philips XXL air fryer. The guide says to cook beef at 400, but when I do it smokes like crazy. I've tried putting a little water in the bottom, but it just makes everything take longer to cook and I worry about the water affecting the heating element. So, I decided that lowering the temperature to 325 accomplishes the same objective and I don't have to worry about water damaging the heating element. Using the $50 grill plate, it takes almost 2 mins longer to cook a ribeye steak, and it seems to cook more evenly. I still get the sear that I'm looking for because of the grill plate and the center of the steak looks perfect. If you're going to be cooking steaks in your Philips air fryer, the grill plate accessory is a must have.

    Hi good video. We have a Midea and got the Phillips XXL as an upgrade. My wife however prefers the older Midea to the XXL purely because the basket separate when you lift the basket. With The Midea the basket and handle is one part and you can therefore use the handle to carry the food throughout the kitchen. With the XXL the handle comes apart and you need to use hot gloves to handle the basket.
    Unless there is a way to “clip” the handle to the basket.

    This has a sponsored feel but that's ok. The main thing leading me toward Philips is all the other brands get plastic smells, and a lot of reviewers say the smells/tastes never go away after "break-in". Also the air flow does seem better. The basket mesh is finer too, so the bottom really gets the exposure it needs. I'm skeptical about how the starfish works when food is in the way. The demonstration with glitter doesn't simulate real-world use. But maybe the air that comes down around the sides is still getting directed in a better way. I noticed that competitors, in maximizing internal basket size, usually don't have a margin around the perimeter for air flow to the bottom. You need to space food a bit, but spacing alone won't let enough air to the bottom without a margin like that.

    • @AirfryDaily
      @AirfryDaily  Před 3 lety +13

      Trust me, I am not sponsored. I have 15 air fryers from all kinds of brands and I test them all without getting paid for it. So it is my own opinion.

      @@AirfryDaily OK I thought I saw "Philips Chef" printed on your apron in another video, but I'm not saying it would be a bad thing. I added that comment because someone else asked if it was an ad, but I didn't care. I mean there would be no need to hide it if true. I do think Philips makes the best air fryer and the original basket design is most effective. I recently compared tons of air fryer reviews and found the biggest competitor on Amazon, Cosori, gives off plastic smells that never go away no matter how many times it's been used. Some people smell it and some don't. Philips has better materials and spacing between hot parts and the outside plastic. I think my only complaint so far is the box didn't have much protection on the sides, and it was apparent that my box had been shipped on its side. But there's no apparent damage.

    • @AirfryDaily
      @AirfryDaily  Před 3 lety +11

      @@educationalvideos4151 Good eye. The Philips Chef was at my home for a cooking lesson. This lesson was very helpful for me to understand air fryers better. The big diffrence with Philips is that a Philips Airfryer XXL sucks in air and all the other brands blow air in the frying basket. Because Philips sucks in air, combined with the starfish, it is superior on higher quantities of food. Philips Airfryers are also more powerful (2225 watt) compared to other brands (1800 watt max). Because of this unique technology. I know, I sound a bit like a sales guy, but Im really not. The thing is that most people don't know that there is really a big difference in the technology that Philips uses for their Airfryers. THanks for commenting again and your feedback.

      Many people love the Cosori ones too!!! Just because Philips first invented the air fryer doesn't mean another brand like Cosori isn't good. Many prefer the Cosori do to the ease in washing etc. I have heard from others they feel the Philips is a bit more sturdy and feel it gives one of the best flavors with Cosori coming in second. I think the Philips removes more fat then the other options too. I like the grilling option Philips gives you, and the other accessories. Hands down the Philips is the most costly, and possibly the most durable. The Cosori has excellent reviews too, and it appears the Philips XXL is 4 or 7 quarts in size and the Corsori is 5.8 qt.

    I think Phillips is the best in class. Of course you pay for it. However low fat cooking is not necessarily more healthy. According to the majority of research it’s the type of fat you cook with that matters. Vegetable oil is the worst. Go look up PUFAs. Animal fat being the healthiest. Yes the opposite of what you’ve been told. So even I the air fryer I put a layer of beef tallow or pork fat on the meat. I don’t spray with avocado oil or olive oil or any vegetable oil. Then the machine can cook off whatever fat it wants. The other concern is the use of aluminum with non stick surfaces which when heated creates its own toxic mess. BPA free is meaningless. So I prefer stainless steel baskets and accessories over anodized non stick aluminum. Phillips has some grill baskets and fry baskets which are stainless steel. Thx for the information.

    Does it really remove fats?

    • @AirfryDaily
      @AirfryDaily  Před 2 lety

      Fat drips in the pan and stays there. A hamburger for instance contains way less fat in comparison with a hamburger you cook in the pan with butter.

      Nope, I test all types of brands. But Philips is just really great because of its patented technology.

    I have one, but this video would actually put me off buying Philip's. He's overselling it. It's like, Philips have kidnapped his family and the ransom is to SELL this air frier OR ELSE!

      @AirfryDaily  Před 3 lety +4

      Thanks for the feedback, I will keep this in mind for my next videos. Didn't mean to oversell it. I just wanted to convey the fact that the Philips Airfryer is unique (because of the starfish) in comparison to others.

    Why is it so important for you that I buy a Philips Airfryer is what I want to know.

    • @AirfryDaily
      @AirfryDaily  Před 2 lety

      I have tested multiple brands. For fries most air fryers are quite good. But if you want to cook with your airfryer, you really should get a Philips Airfryer XXL. And I am not getting payed to say this...

    Phillips baskets are the worst on the market. The sides are a nightmare to clean. I threw mine out in frustration, bought a Cosori, best move I've made. I wouldn't recommend this for anyone.

      Thanks for sharing your opinion. Not everyone has the same experience, glad to read that Cosori works better for you Rhiahl.

    Not going to buy anything made by Philips ever again, and not an air fryer either.
    It could be a Dutch bias and pride that Philips is chosen as a favourite by you, and that wouldn’t surprise me. Swedish reviewers would prefer Electrolux too. Perhaps there is a familiarity in thinking/culture that causes one to feel most comfortable with a domestic brand.
    I’m going for Cosori, but I have to admit that the rail system of the Philips is a premium touch!

      Also nice choice! Pick the one that suits you best. Enjoy your Cosori air fryer :)

    Philips air fryers are overpriced for what they do. I have the Cosori and it works much better and for half the price.

    Just a warning, this contains so much misinformation and there is no research whatsoever behind any of his claims, so for all intends and purposes, take this with a grain of salt.

      @AirfryDaily  Před 3 lety +2

      That is your opinion. It is quite normal that people work hard to make videos and try to earn something from it. I mean, do you work for free? If you don’t find my videos useful, try another channel l.

      @@AirfryDaily I'm not highlighting or commenting on your supposed hard work... A review should be unbiased and without a monetary incentive to get viewers to purchase the product from which you are earning a commission. That's like ads for a product.. Of you had said this in your video, no-one would comment. You don't like me commenting. Then you're in the wrong business
