    Thank you. I just recently cleaned up my laptop and found out the GPU fan was barely working. I just installed new fans. And I'm totally noob with this. Thanks to this, I didn't panic and I think all went well, although... The front edge won't close, no matter what I tried. I guess it's alright though. I tried to prioritize closing the front edge but it doesn't click at the center and I see no damage there. I guess this is just that stubborn with me.
    Now I'm just scared of turning it back on XD

      regarding the front side case not closing, make sure the audio cable (black and red cable) are tucked far from the edge, that cable sometimes comes loose from the plastic rails and can prevent the cover from closing, so move that cable and then pinch real hard the cover till it makes a snap click, else if you don't close it also nothing is going to happen, the laptop will still be working fine.
      Should you have any other questions or requests in the future, please don't hesitate to ask me.

Is my fan broken and need of replacement? Is this another issue? I am completely unfamiliar with fixing a laptop. Regarding your question, i do repair electronics laptops and much more for over 17 years and the reason we place a thermal putty or gel on the components is that those components do tend to get hot and can get damaged with over heating and the laptop wont turn on, it has nothing to do on performance it has everything to do with long lasting. i recommend you to get a thermal putty on aliexpress and place it on vram and the components around under heat sink.

      @@uFixTek I'm glad you replied 🙏🏻. In my country, unfortunately K5 pro (and other thermal putty brands 🥲) is not available locally. So I thought I can replace it with thermal pad from Cooler Master since it is available and quite famous among technicians here. The Cooler Master thermal pads has the same thermal conductivity though, but I hasn't changed it yet because I don't know the thickness I supposed to use on my laptop. Once again, thank you very much 😉👍.

      @uFixTek  Před 5 měsíci +1

      i would highly advise you NOT to use pads on were the thermal gel is used!, the reason that they used the thermal gel and not pad is because of two reasons:
      1. the distance is not even.
      2. the xclamp are not firm enough to squish the pads down.
      IF you use the pads, you will be counter pushing away the heatsink from the CPU, and it will results on bad temps and crashes.

      @@uFixTek Yeah, the third reason is what I've been concerning about using thermal pad, because when I touch the pads even the 0,5 mm is a bit on the tougher side. Imagine I used it with the wrong thickness it would be a long term issue. Recently surfed the internet and found Upsiren U6 Pro, it said "thermal putty for thermal pad replacement". OH WOW. So you replaced the thermal paste and left the VRM with no cooling whatsoever? just WOW. Who cares that it gets over 100C hot right? If you have no thermal gel, at the very least use thermal pads for the VRM, this VRAM doesn't get very hot, you're right, it nice to cool it down, but unless someone plans to do the mining on this laptop, not that crucial, however I would totally disagree in regards to the VRM - this is very important. I bet you this laptop will have issues within a few years if used for gaming regularly. Would you say that the VRAM pads would be 1mm or 0.5 mm?

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  Před 2 lety

      oki , let me explain a bit maybe you would understand, The VRAMS don't need thermal pads or anything as they won't heat-up and the bios for this laptop is locked you can't OC or push the limits of the vrams. the VRAM on a NONE OC GPU its the same as regular ram, you can have a regular ram with heatsink and without heatsink, it will make no effect on its performance. and the temps on we rams never go over 40c anyways. we have opened many laptop and tested the vrams temps. even some with RTX 2060 you don't even have pads or anything on them.
      but if you feel like cooling the vrams is going to do any effect by all means go a head and place a 1mm thermal pad.
      also only a crazy and retard person would use this for mining. i been repairing and servicing over 18years and we have done many many tests, and i would not mention anything that could harm clients laptop or equipment.

    • @itftcomputers

      @@uFixTek And that's exactly what I said - the VRAM doesn't really get very hot, but the VRM (I have exactly the same laptop in front of me now) had the cooling from the factory for a reason, a crappy one, but better than nothing. VRM gets very hot on any graphics card with or without OC and will heat up the motherboard if not cooler properly. Now not every graphics card has the VRM cooling, but I'd definitely use the thermal pads to cool in down, to prolong the life-span of the laptop.

      oh hell yes if you have the option and heatsink go for it its good to keep it cool, if you care about the laptop. but keep in mind that the vram would be your last thing that would fail in a laptop or any laptop, there are more sensitive or power mofsets that have way less life span compared to vram. Regarding your question, yes that is what they are start doing because they need the service center to get more money coming in and or make it harder for people to clean and service so it over heats and so they can purchase new models.
      Should you have any questions or requests in the future, please don't hesitate to ask me.
