    Hey there!! So I came here to tell you that I replaced the thermal paste!! The video was really helpful, and I managed to get down these results:
    Before:
    At start: 41C°
    Usual tasks: 50-60C°
    Under heavy pressure: 85-97C°
    Now:
    At start: 29C°
    Usual tasks: 40C°
    Under heavy pressure: 70C°
    Maximum (1 to 2 seconds: 88C°
    Thermal paste used: Coolermaster mastergel pro.
    Thank you very much ;)

      Im super glad that my videos are helping people like you, to service and fix their laptops, just a note: if you in the next service in a year or two use a thermal grizzly kryonaut : amzn.to/2RyMet6
      you will see a better results 3-5c less.
      also try to rise the back end of the laptop by 1-2cm with rubber legs : amzn.to/3ilZaNN
      just place one on the back corner not in the front, and you will see the magic, better air flow lower temps.

    About thermal paste on graphic memory - don't use another paste on old paste. It should be cleared up and replaced. Also from my point of view what I see it's a little bit too much thermal paste. But I like the idea of more pressure on CPU/GPU with that bending.

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  Před 3 lety +1

      thank you for the feedback! regarding your observation, i'm not mixing old thermal paste with old thermal paste, im mixing the new thermal paste with thermal GEL. as i haven't found a provider that can sell a thermal gel. and i have ran few test by adding a none conductive thermal paste beside or on to the thermal gel it does help out, but the correct way is to get the thermal gel. there is no harm done with you place a lot of thermal paste on capacitors or coils. if you replace the gel with pads you will get horrible thermals on cpu or gpu and the pads have lots of tension and will push away the heatsink. so get thermal gel or mix it will thermal paste to help a bit.
      again i appreciate your support and feedback.

    Thank you. I really wish my service center was as good as you. I really liked the part when you suggest bending the clamps slightly so that it will sit better on the cpu.
    Can I ask what copper cleaning solution consists of? Will Dil vinegar help?
    Also regarding alcohol, I have medical grade isopropyl alcohol. Does it's percentage matter?

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  Před 3 lety +4

      Thank you for the feedback and support to the channel by SUB :P
      regarding your questions:
      #1. bending the xclam will give a better pressure from heatsink to the CPU/GPU
      #2. if you dont have silver or copper cleaner solution you can use a vinegar and mixed with "baking soda"
      and use to rub the copper and it will remove any layer of oxidation, just remember you will have about 10sec before the copper starts to react with air(oxygen) so apply 1st the thermal paste and prepare everything and once cleaned the heatsink sit it down right away.
      #3. regarding the alcohol , you can use the "medical grade isopropyl alcohol" but i would not recommend you as it have more water base. i would highly recommend use 90+% iso alcohol.
      if you got any other questions feel free to ask me. good luck

      Thank you for the feedback and your support to the channel by a sub :P,
      regarding the question about the LM, YES AND NO:
      IF you move the laptop a lot in a bag or from table to table: then DON'T do LM
      BUT if the laptop sits on a table always without moving then YES DO IT,
      Reason for the above would be, people that say LM goes bad after year or two or 5 years is because they dont understand the chemistry behind the LM and the long effect of LM:
      LM:
      at its normal state is Liquid, as it says on the box:P
      that what makes it easy to apply,
      now lets say you apply LM on a CPU laptop: the LM will starts bonding on heat-sink and cpu or gpu dye, and after few months of usage by transferring heat or cold, the LIQUID portion of the components starts to dry up, and it supposed to do this not because its getting bad or something, its a good thing that the Liquid starts to evaporate.
      because then the risk of spilling and going over the motherboard goes down to 0%.
      BUT that's not the best part, the best part is that when LM is dried it will bond both materials 100% even better than when it was on its liquid form factor.
      NOW this is where you make up your mind and decide if you want LM or not:
      #1. when the bond is solid the heat transfer is at its best BUT the bond is VERY VER VERY fragile , any small bang or hit or drop it will break the bond, because the heatsink have x clamp and its there for retraction when the components heat up, so when the bond is broken by hit then your temperatures will be the worst you ever seen. and there is no Liquid so it can start bonding again.
      #2. if you dont hit and really really take care of the laptop and have it as workstation, then you will only see improvements on temps, and every 6months open up to clean the fans without lifting or moving or jerking the heatsink.
      WHAT I WOULD RECOMMEND you is this:
      thermal grizzly kryonaut:
      amzn.to/3u3sE6A
      its the same brand but in the paste version, the cons and pro:
      pro: gives you the same results as the LM but with 2-3c less
      pro: none conductive
      pro:last 8years under heavy usage
      cons: you loose 2-3c :P
      cons: you have to repaste after 8years
      cons: can't think of any at the moment
      i hope this explains a bit, i have made videos on LM for laptop if you will to check them out go to my videos and search for Liquid word.
      good luck

      @uFixTek  Před 2 lety

      Thank you for the feedback! if you wish to support the channel you can LIKE or SUB or both :P

      Do you believe xmt-50 thermal paste is good for long term gaming on gtx 2060 6vram, ryzen 5 16gram laptop

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  Před 3 lety +3

      xmt-50 thermal paste are very good paste , but you have to keep in mind one factor, no matter what type of thermal paste you use , you must replace the paste every 1-2years if you are going to do heavy load 6-9h a day. the thermal paste they can say it can last 7years or so, but that is under very normal low usage also (fair use), they don't count in the long hours of gaming or rendering or OC'ing. any thermal compound that is under heavy use after 2years starts hardening and loosing its chemical properties, therefor it will not be as efficient source of cold / heat transfer. the only thermal compound that can last lifetime without replacing is the LM. but again the people that say that LM needs to be replace they don't understand why is it that after sometime of having LM then suddenly they have bad temps, and they conclude that its the life spam of the LM. but that is not true. LM after few months or year of usage it starts bounding two materials together, by loosing its Liquid part and, and becoming solder bound, and that is the best part BUT at the same time is the most fragile part of LM. because when LM is at its bound stage and no more liquid, if you hit the laptop that is inside you bag even if the hit is not a direct hit, but enough to shake the heatsing by nano millimeter it will crack the rock solid LM and you will get a horrible temps.
      the only place that you should use LM is in a PC where the motherboard in sitting flat on the base of the case and the heatsink on top, unlike the many cases that the motherboard hangs on the side and then people mount the enormous heatsink hanging to the cpu counter gravity, and this heatsinks use springs to hold in place. and if you place LM and if you just tap the side of the case after year or so the heatsink will move and it will break the seal (LM).
      the best cases are any case that keeps the mobo flat on its case.
      e.g: amzn.to/32ARBdE
      to conclude:
      thermal compound is measure in delta tempreture, and the lower is the better: so always look for the "W/mK chart" people / videos can lie but numbers dont.
      imgur.com/a/S5zypLT
      if you gona use LM on laptop you should never ever move it :P
      if you using on a pc make sure if flat sit mobo style.
      if you going to use thermal paste use the best you can get but always replace every 2years of OC or heavy daily use, else every 4years
      You may not even bother reading this but this is the best i can explain at the moment without going into more details.
      good luck my friend in you adventure :P

    Thanks for the video mate. I repasted my laptop with artic mx-4. CPU now goes max up to 85'c (earlier it was 90+) and GPU 75'c. I read in the commnets that u recommend a copper shim to decrese the temp even . Do you have a video for it. If not can u pls describe the procedure ?

      Thank you for the feedback and your support to the channel by a sub :P
      regarding your question:
      IF you want to get the best results get this:
      amzn.to/3cM2mho
      and get the 20mm x 20mm .3mm
      amzn.to/38ZYOHk
      its really simple:
      you will clean the heatsink and the GPU/CPU
      then you will apply a paste on the CPU/GPU
      after place a copper shim over the cpu and gpu
      and then place more paste on top of the copper shims and you are all set , enjoy the drop :)
      (all you doing its increasing the pressure on the CPU and GPU and therefore you will get better heat transfer, and your fan noise will be less)
      remember that the GPU and CPU have a fan curve, that means after placing the copper shim you may get near the same results, but your fan will work less = less fan noise
      i would highly recommend you to sandwich that copper shim in there :P
      and an EXTRA TIP:
      try to rise the back end of the laptop about 2-3cm off the table and you will see an additional temp drop, as you will help the fresh air intake.
      if anything else let me know.

      regarding your accident with wifi card and cable, the best and easy way to repair the wifi board is to replace it, if not you will need to get soldering iron hot station and flux and much stuff and solder the connector, but its very easy and cheaper replace it:

      @uFixTek  Před 3 lety +1

      no need to clean the vrams or touch it. its absolutely not necessary , the vrams are like regular ram chip, some ram chips come with heatsink for those that want to over clock them and the normal most dont come with heatsink because they are not supposed to be overclocked.

    What about the thermal paste on the other smaller parts?

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  Před 3 lety +1

      IF "other smaller part" means the Vrams?, if so then the reason is that the jell pad that they have there its perfectly fine and you truly never need to replace them , even have them in some cases, the vrams dont need cooling on laptops UNLESS you OC the vram chips with third party apps.
      if you think that the vrams need the cooling then you may worry about your regular Rams that do even most of the job.
      NOTE dont put pads on vrams as it will counter force the heatsink and it will end up over heating gpu or cpu.

      use a artic mx-4 and use a copper shim and the temps shouldn't reach 90 max 85c , also lift the back end of the laptop about 1-2cm so you get a better air flow and it will help a lot.

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  Před 3 lety +7

      by "rest of the parts" you mean the extra paste around the cpu gpu?, if so its because its not needed as the paste its too dry and you may damage the capacitors, and i dont want my subscribers start damaging the laptop,

      jesus 90 its too much when at full load max should be 70-80 sometimes depending the room temp and many other factor you can go up to 85 but no more than than. repaste and when doing gaming lift the back end of the laptop about 1-2 cm and you will see a big temp drop because of air flow. thank you for the support and post your results :)

    • @uFixTek

      they don't use pads on this because the pads will force the heatsink away from GPU and CPU , they use a thermal putty.
