please dont pick out points . try to understand wat he want to say. he is referring to a lack of central power before independence. indian army was actually the imperial army. british indian army. i have served in punjab for 6 years . brother let me tell you out of every 5 families one has someone in the armed forces. thats why. even villagers used to smile after seeing Army movement in their area. they know wat is right n wat is wrong.

One thing left over from British is colonial divide between officers and soldiers, why different mess halls and food for officers and jawans and orderly treated as personal servants?
Seems we have replaced Gora Sahib with Brown Sahib, the officer cadre has to treat jawans as human and only then we would become Indian Military else it is British in character.

If there is a shortsge of people in army it is because of the increasing brutality & bullying towards new cadets by seniors. Videos are simply sickening. Army is steadily losing its values, discipline & humane touch. So is the demeaning behaviour towards female recruits sick.. The quality of people entering defence has deteriorated.

Fact no. 1 : Currently Indian army is getting a truck load of willing and motivated contenders seeking jobs at various level, so much so that application far outnumber the vacancies. If there is a shortage of junior officers its your slow recruitment and inadequate capacity of your training centers.
Fact no. 2 : Salaries and perk being showered at Indian tri forces are among the best by Indian standard, and a pretty large chunk of Indian budget, so stop crying.
Fact no. 3 not just 10 yers but next 50 years you stand no chance of becoming a mighty army. You could become a might army on T.V news propaganda pushed by ultra nationalist devoid of resoning and logic news channel or talks like this. An army who hasn't even got a basic small arm design and manufacturing right, who's most wepon system and platform are a mishmash and has no coherent central triservices command is just good for suppressing moment of secession and countering insurgency.
