  • A dauntless soul whose only motto engraved in his life was to serve the nation against all odds. Surendra Singh Tyagi,who flew MiG 21,MiG 23, 27 & 29, Jaguar,Vampires, Mirage 2000, Chetak, MI 18 and Canberra Bomber and survived to tell his hair-raising tales.
    Adding laurels to his glorious career he has has been felicitated and honored by The Prime Minister P.V. Narsimha Rao in 1993. The chief minister,chief of air staff and also has been awarded The Vayu Sena Medal.
    From the tales of Camaraderieship to the time when he had a near death experience, he takes us through his journey of life. "I have cheated death for 4000 hours"

    Joined Air Force in 1963 and an air commodore of 1965 and 1971 wars with Pakistan operated MiG 21.
    Confuting the myth of MIG- 21 as a flying coffin,he has the highest ops mission on MiG21 in the world with 6316 flies and 4000 hours out of 8000 total flight hours.
    He has long, illustrious and decorated career spanning over 33 years as an Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot. During this period he has been appointed as Air force examiner, Principal Director Dte of spac, Dte of Ops and has commanded Flight Squadron 32 and 35. Has been deputed in Russia ,Iraq and USA.

    Sir u have always been my hero..i used to be a small girl in scouts in KV jamnagar... U used to come to our school as chief guest....u have been really wonderful.....joyfull... smiling....a real Santa for kids...

    He’s a lovely person and I’m honoured to know him personally! 😊 A total inspiration for us all. His stories are like they’re straight out of an awesome war movie and you’re filled with awe when he’s narrating them to you. He has got a killer sense of humour. He’s truly a legend of the Indian Air Force.

    The aircraft which we called as a flying coffin . Which can crash at any time during flight you have highest flying hours on that aircraft ! Salute you sir 👮‍♂️

    Sir.. It was an honor to meet you in person. Sir, you are not just a bundle of stories, you are also a bundle of inspiration. Never met such a personality in my life, whenever I meet you or hear you, you
