- Wildflower meadows seldom occur naturally anymore since the loss of free-roaming monogastric herbivores on the British Isles. They take management, artificial grazing so to speak. It's July 2017 and Rob shows us how. The best he knew how at the time anyway!

Hi Rob! Now that's real 'old school' lawnmowing!☺
Indeed! 😄 The geese do a better job than me though! 🦢😆 I just use the brush-cutter nowadays 🙄
Love the videos and I hope you post more frequently
Love your uploads, brother ❤️ 💙
Beautiful
Love from Estonia
Thanks! 😊 I'll do my best!
Hi Rob, just a thought , I think trio of friendly Goats could halve your Scything time , only once you "Goat proofed " the fruit trees though 😊
Hi! I'd love a trio of friendly goats! I just don't know where to find any! 🤷🏻♂️😄 I have enough electric fence though 🤔
I have never seen anyone sharp a scythe like this ..
It's not the best technique, is it?! 😄
@@robsdiscovery i thought you knew something I didnt :-)
I sharpen my grass scythe with a hamer and an anvil. You can get it as sharp as a Razorblade.
For my nettle scythe is use a sweetfile... the sharpening stone is only used during scything. About every 12 to 15 cuts..
What month do you cut the grass ?
That's really interesting!
I usually cut it once the hay rattle has rattled, so usually August sometime. But realistically, I leave it too long and end up strimming it in the winter 🤦🏻♂️😆
@@robsdiscovery I have learned to scythe to save as much insects as I can (and also because its meditative) but I still was not shure what the best moment was. Thanks
