- RV is one of the modern icons of Motocross. We are very similar in age and I followed his career from a relatively unknown amateur all the way through his incredible pro career. I have always wanted to have RV on the show, but I am glad it took us this long as we have actually got to hang a bit over the last 6 months. He's a legend of a bloke and a really fun guy to hang around... I hope that comes across in this show! We talk about Ryan joining BluCru, why redheads have the most championships, if he retired to early, how his speed would stack up today, and even though it is kinda old news now, we talk about the Ando / Jett situation and what it means for the sport, as well as our upcoming trip to New Zealand to ride with 2007 team mate and rival Ben Townley.

My brother and myself went to Muddy Creek one year, my brother had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, he struggled moving around the pits let alone the track. Ryan saw him gimping around so he allowed my brother to jump on the the Mule he used himself and basically just transported him anywhere he needed for a day. I admit it made me a little emotional.
RV is a great rep for the greatest sport ever.
That's awesome.
Wow. Just wow❤
What ever RV wants. He's earned it 💪✌️😉
I’ve been watching supercross since the 80’s and Ryan is in my top 5.
Can’t blame the man,he’s one of the best ever to race
On a green bike
The best
I met him at the Washougal National / 125 Dream Race that he won and beat a fast Mike Brown back in 2018. Great dude ! 👍😎
I love seeing all these guys I follow/ed racing being themselves. Thanks for offering them the forum to do so. The racing is what I'll alwyas be about but it's eye opening to see what it takes from everyone to make it happen.
Villo, Ulrich, and the whole Yamaha crew are as real as they get. Great group and they interact like family.
I have never seen such an aggressive rider and his GoPro national riding was amazing to watch 👏
Great interview!
Ryan is a good guy and a hell of a racer. I met his brother at Windrock, and a good guy as well. It's great to see him happy and still in the sport. I should have followed his lead and gone blue with my last bike purchased, as I rode a 22 450 and loved the thing.
I always was curious on what happened with Kaw.
The 4 straight champ can do what the fvck he wants
Rv should come to Nz and do Ben townleys ride adventure
Rv is a Badass for sure !
remember back in the day of Carmichael and McGrath when Yamaha didn't seem to spend a lot of money marketing or even have a Factory team. So to speak and probably just relied on their Innovations of the bike. And now they are all in with star and so on
Rv is the man
He called me back and said they'd like to talk to me...
No shit they did!! Your RV!! 💪
MC rode most his career on Yamaha & Honda , just minis was Kawis . Then Kawi wants him to be their ambassador ? RV was on Kawi most of his career and certainly all the championships he gave them was on green and they pay him back by hiring MC ? The big business end of this sport is much like all business, no appreciation for its employees !
🫡 Jase 🤘🏻RV is the man
1:43: Jace is like "fuck yeah it was."
Tell em to recap the Lawrence fight
Every year he was healthy he won his championship.
I've got to know what Gypsy Tales take on Ricki's announcing? He's a professional so I would really like to know what he thinks of it?
Growing up with mx1 them mxgp i had no real interest in AMA till i saw a young RV on 250, the battles with Townley et al and then AMA 450, out doors mainly, now i think I know more of the AMA guys than mxgp. Herlings is still the man until proved otherwise but Ryan was perhaps just as fast on these AMA tracks. Still troll over heaps of those old races.
Young MC Hammer I believe. Both were baddies on the SX circuit.
RV is one of the best. But nobody comes close to the bubba and ricky days. Yes mcgrath was great, but bubba vs ricky on the 450s was next level.
Could have been the GOAT
He is
@@thenikkidixxhe's not in RCs league whatsoever. 10 straight mx titles. RV is def 2nd on the all time list though
I was waiting the part when you start talking about yourself 😂😂😂
I wonder about why you didn’t examine your possibilities with a European team when your prestige as a AMA Champion worked in your favor? You were respected for your effort in the GPs but it’s a brutal learning process as you experienced. You could of had a comfortable situation there. A experienced manager and your authentic marketing traits would have eased you into retirement with honors worldwide. Just thinking😎
I reckon you need 3 years minimum to understand the euro tracks and racing. I don't think he had that time.
Everyone was paying attention; Ryan admitted Kawi made him an offer...but HE (Ryan) jumped to Europe. When he retuned to the U.S. You can tell he expected the red carpet. Kawi move on... Its business. He also said IF he needed to he could call Mitch and get a bike...it would be pro circuit...
I never understood the Kawi/MC deal. Obviously he's an incredible ambassador, but nobody connects him to Kawi. Meanwhile, RV spent his entire career on Kawi and won 9 AMA Pro titles on green bikes. I mean, if there's anything that shows people how good your bike is, RV is the guy. It def makes the Kawi organization look petty. This guy gave you his whole career, but your mad because he rode for another Kawi team for 5 races?
They made him an offer he had to refuse.
Ok stupid question who is MC nothing comes to mind for me lol
Some bloke think he mite be king of super cross who ever that is
McGrath, its not initials
Some random dude i think he was half decent in supercross
@@brap10151half decent lmaoo
@@robertjolliffe4164 yo I said it was a stupid question lol. Never heard of him referred to as MC before.
Villapoto stud on a bike .. Dud on the mic..
Na, I don't agree at all. Very down to earth and knowledgeable.
He has some great conversations with RC
Yamaha does MC dirty, he’s goes to Kawi. Kawi does RV dirty, he goes to Yamaha 🤷♂️ You would think the manufacturers these guys won their championships on (or at least some of them) would want to keep them…
MC NEVER RACED A KAWI !!!
He rode for Kawasaki in 1990 and switched to Honda in 1991.
asdf
Kawasaki 🤦🏻
You could lose the foul language.
Q: Who is not wearing a 666 hat?
A: Nobody
What?
The M is actually 3 ancient Freemason tools. Look it up.
Good guy but the following two years after Europe he basically disappeared. Kawasaki wasn't getting much for their money. Ryan like a lot of ex racers took a bit to figure out when you aren't going to get top racer dollars if you aren't a top racer.
Did you not hear what he just said? 😂
Money wasn't an issue. By the time he went to Europe, he was set for life. His win bonuses, championship bonuses, sponsorship dollars, and having the opportunity to make some smart investments (Monster Energy was a home run)
Like he said, it's just about having good times.
Even if set for life, it is very good to have money coming and health benefits for one's self and family. Life is extremely expensive and one's investments can take a big hit in a downturn.
@@bryancehelsky4302dont have anything relevent to worry about other than a millionaire making more money
No life huh?
