I’ve heard 4 stories. I believe 2 of them. This will never be going away anytime soon.Bottom line…Don’t bring a factory bike to an amateur race.

All this BS wouldn't have taken place if Yamaha would have just followed the rules. He claimed the bike had the money it should have been a done deal. END OF STORY... YAMAHA is wrong in this whole situation. NEVER EVER Should they bring a factory race bike to amateur racing. Yamaha should have handed it over and the talk should have been we will let you take over the bike and we would like to offer you this amount of money to buy it back.

What strikes me is no matter how many interviews you watch in this entire episode, Brennan showed the most restraint, carried himself with class, and acted more like a respectable adult than anyone involved. That’s just the fact of the matter, even in his interview he’s showed nothing but respect and wanted to buy that bike legally! He didn’t accuse anyone of cheating or say Deegan wasn’t an incredible rider…he simply wanted to ride a bike coming from the Star factory potentially and looks like he was right. I feel bad for both kids tho, Brennan will be basically looked down upon from now on by these adults involved who are all in powerful positions that can affect his career going forward. Then we have Hayden who never even needed all of these performance factory parts to win and now he’s in the middle of this nonsense. I don’t think the Deegans represented themselves in a bad light but many other people did obviously.

I guess I missed the part of the rule that said you had to reveal your intentions, motivations etc. with the bike. That is because those things are not part of the rule. File the claim and it is done. You don't have to be interrogated, you don't have to be bullied. Totally unacceptable Hey, I got a solution, don't cheat and don't bring a 100K bike to an amateur event. Done. Peace!

It doesn’t matter what the kid wanted to do with the bike. Once he paid for it was his his to do whatevever he wanted to. He could copy it, sell it, burn it it’s a non factor if the engine guy was there or not. If that motor/ecu/bike was that one off and unobtainable then it should have never been raced at an amateur event. This is why the rule exists to begin with helps maintain the integrity of the sport at this level. AMA and promoter should have protected this 17 year old kid.

Sounds like bullying to me. When you threaten to take away a rider’s sponsorship, that’s a threat. Every time this guy says, you do t want to be the guy known for claiming HD’s bike. And you don’t want this to follow you forever, those are all threats to me. Say what you will, the kid got bullied and should be compensated

Walker and Yamaha lying through there teeth, disappointed in the industry.... Protecting the golden child . Oh well I'm sure the riding community will forget about this in a month.

Most frustrating thing is everyone should be shouting, it should not be a big deal for someone to claim a bike. If it is you bought the wrong bike and you’re in the wrong.

Matt walker did Brennan wrong. And I am sure the sponsor got threatened. And then his bike get taken away from him. How much more can you punish a kid trying to race. David vs Goliath

"One of my riders" no no no, he pays you. He's not your rider, you WERE his trainer. This Matt guy is a scholar

Matt walker should not be allowed to teach a juvenile anything. His interview was such BS. After his interview he definitely does not have any integrity. Matt should be a politician with his answers.

I have watched and listened to all these interviews and the sad thing is it looks like thanks to Matt Walker the kid's sponsor took back all his bikes even though he dropped the claim. One side of Matt's mouth is says he always stands by his athletes when he threw this kid under the bus. I hope Yamaha does the stand up thing and get this kids some bikes and help he deserves and I hope he finds a honorable trainer for the future.. Brennan went by the book, Star Yamaha brought a factory bike, They know the claiming rule. They got caught fair and square and has nothing to do with Deagan. This will be more of a black eye for Yamaha, Walker, and his sponsor because of how this claim was handled. you guys have pissed off the people who's shoulders your businesses stands on. Make it right or reap the consequences

I do not believe a thing Matt said here. Brennan stated that he received a text from Matt that he wanted him to come to his pit area to speak to him. Brennan didn’t just drop by. Brennan also said he is not going back to train with Matt. Matt pressured him and doesn’t want to admit it. Matt has no ones back but his own.

Matt didn't realize that rescinding the claim made it look far worse. I have listened to all the interviews so far and to me Brennan and Derek Harris come out looking the best in this whole situation. If not bullying there was strong intimidation. Matt's credibility as a trainer took a big hit for not backing his rider like Derek did for doing something that was well within the rules. Clearly there was pressure from Yamaha Corporation on Brennan's sponsor for that information get to them so fast up in Canada. Tim Cotter should be banned next year at Loretta Lynn and Star/Yamaha should be fined

The engine guy interviewed by cooksey was pretty freaking straight. No stuttering, no "Well, so and so said, this that and the other" He spoke with a clear recollection of the events and didn't spare any details. He never looked like he was searching for words or just trying to loosely fill in gaps in the story. I believe the engine guy. Yall should go check out that interview.

Why would you state "it was clear we weren't going to change his mind"? Freudian Slip always clips the wings. Yamaha gave themselves a few black eyes on this

Intentions, character, disposition and past comments are not in the rules. George is right. "When it was time to buy the bike Brennan showed the most restraint, carried himself with class, and acted more like a respectable adult than anyone involved"
