The best tamil comeback! This has a great story! And btw my grandpa was boxing in madras back in the day! He said that the sarpatta scenes were so similar back in his day!

The "clans" in the movie are boxing clubs.
Not kins, boxers of different caste, religion belong to a single boxing club under the guidance of a coach so they refer it as clan.
Coach is head of the clan, the club is like a family, so they take pride in their victory and legacy.
To fight for the club is a great honour for the boxers back then.

watch till the end ,this the best screen play ever written by director pa.Ranjith,in this movie you'll see that every characters are given importance,on the whole this is the master piece of Pa.Ranjith.
My grandfather's brother was a boxer and a part of this club but he passed away shortly after I was born so Idk a lot abt him.. But my dad tells a lot of stories abt his boxing days.. I didnt think much of it until I saw this movie and came to know abt the story and it made me appreciate him and our history a lot more..

This is not just boxing movie but a political one..
Few questions you have to ask at the end or through the movie..
1. Who trained Arya?
2. Are Ranga masters decisions are ryt..?
3. Ranga masters decisions on aarya after coming from jail, why he said that he is unfit for boxing after seeing aarya as a goon by the side of his son?
4. Who really motivated and trained Aarya?.
5. Last main question.. who took the credits for Aarya's victory ?
Pa. Ranjith just nailed the film showing how people of higher clans use a common man for their pride and just throw them when they found they are no more usefull ( he became useless because of his son, whi never gets any condemn from his father Ranga master).

*Jagame Thandiram* : reviews were mixed but I enjoyed it, it was interesting and fun and I think you'd like it too
*Madrasapattinam* : my fave Tamil movie. It's a period romance set just before independence, with Arya and Amy Jackson (her first movie, she was just 18 if I remember right)
*Aadai* : it's a great, underrated, unique film. Jaby may remember the trailer, it showed a girl waking up naked in an abandoned building... I really, really recommend this one and it's def reaction material (but it's a serious drama/suspense movie, don't expect shock value stuff despite the main plot)
