Actually in India we don't need to in a blood relation to be a brother and sister...Even in same class or office or colleage everyone will have atleast one brother or sister bond in group..it happens..Even we address a stranger by bro or sis, it's like brother from another mother...The girl who plays his sister role in school was actually her daughter tats y they look similar

I can understand why some scenes in this will make you feel its weird. Its basically an era where love carried a lot of innocence. Its not that it doesn't carry now but definitely not in that proportion. You guys were born in 2000 and by the time you guys reached your adolescence a lot of things changed. Forgot about a small town in Tamil Nadu. This story portrait characters born in late 70's so things were totally different. I am from that era.. born in 79. I can very much relate to each and every scene of that movie. Life was different. For us at that time having a landline phone connection at home use to be a thing of luxury. I was born and brought up in Delhi and situations at were good at home and still for me having a landline, color TV, computer, etc were luxury items. Plus Its the adolescence at the peak and the first crush or love was always something very special and you don't forget it so easily. Keeping in connection with your friend within the city itself was a big thing. Then once internet and Orkut came in that's when things become little easier.
About the sister thing... here in India there are relations like that where even though you were not biologically relatrd or no where relatively related to someone generates that relationship of brother and sister.
It is little difficult to relate to this movie for generations who were born in the internet era but its the innocence of love in this movie which is more important which will be difficult to feel or find in bollywood movies where everything is so big, larger than life and luxurious.

@@abhilashakumar8431 yes so things are clear. They are the millennial kids. So their perception towards life and all other things compared to the 70's and 80's kids will be like North and south pole. I understand and feel them much better now. Can't blame them for their reaction for the scenes in this movie.

@@vinumadhavan2992 yes. And I also feel it's more of a cultural difference. Here in India, initiating a conversation with one's crush was a huge deal let alone hanging out with them. I'm 26 now, and even when we were teens, we couldn't gather the courage to tell someone we like. That's how we were conditioned
(or it maybe because I grew up in a small town idk)😅. But in western countries, dating has always been a part of growing up. So they won't understand how hard it was for Ram to have a normal conversation with Janu.

You people did a nice job here by not pausing the movie and silently asking the doubts to each other while the movie goes on without moving your eyes away from the screen.
