Mhs 2 genes are way easier to get and set up for bingos. Kinda disappointed in mhs1 for having you to use the exact slot placement on both monsties. When in mhs 2 you can use for example the top left gene and trans into a middle slot gene of another monstie if the alot is unlocked. Way simpler.

How do you unlock the locked empty slots?
You can unlock it by using steams base in what monstie you have. You can also use universal steam for goods
