I’m a builder. Primarily we do very high end homes and remodel occasionally. I use a drywall primer, sand then two coats of Emerald Flat in light colors with 3 coats in dark colors. I always use flat. It’s easier to touch up and looks “richer” because the way it refracts light. Now… we did a remodel on a veterinarians office several years ago. The contract had two coats of semi-gloss on walls and gloss on trim. We used Emerald on that job also. The clinic is like any place animals are kept… bodily fluids and even blood ends up on the walls, floors and ceilings. We use a polyspuratic (spelling??) floor coating and bring that up the walls using cove shaped filler under the coating to make hosing off the floors a lot easier. Anyway the semi gloss does clean very easily. I’ve been back recently and the walls still look like they did when we finished. That being said…. We had to finish the walls to level 5 and spray them while back rolling with a 3/8 snap to get a smooth consistent finish. Even with this level of expense and effort, they do not look as nice as flat painted walls. I’m getting ready to finish a home that has two separate garages, a standard 22x20 2-car with 9’ ceilings and a 1-bay 30’ deep x 22’Wide garage that will function as a shop also. The garage bay on this garage is 16’ tall where the shop area to the left is 10’ tall. I’m considering painting the ceilings black also as the interior doors on the entire home are Tri-corn black and the exterior of the home is a dark color called Urban Bronze. I’m we have really good lighting in the garage so I think we can pull off some darker colors.

I don't get recommended Obsessed Garage videos often but, every time they live up to their name. Man, he's almost uncomfortable the way he describes it, the constant, never ending pursuit of perfection just comes through everything, his tone, his cadence, the way he knows about each product, each customization of each product, the literal joy he gets from the tool drawers, the way he knows individual tools and gets happy about newer versions. This man, more than any other I've seen on CZcams is sweating the details and I'm sure there are dozens of things we don't see that don't make it to the video. I love it.
Matt, I’ve watched pretty much all your content but I really think this project and video series is the best thing you’ve done. It was REALLY enjoyable to see the thought and detail alongside all the skill of Mike et al to pull this together. Most of all I think this allows people to visualise better how they can bring a garage together using just some, or all, of the products and equipment that you recommend. Really hope you will do more of these builds. Congratulations to Emmanuel and enjoy your garage!

I get it. There's nothing better than having a space to perform at your best, especially proper lighting. I'd love to see what my car looks like in this space just to find all those swirls and blemishes that I've missed while detailing in my cave of a garage.

Pressurewasher setup turned out so good with integrated bucket filler, grey tubing and so on! Now convince Prevost to make the air hose in blue in stead of green :)
I'm so disappointed I didn't see this during the build, somehow my notifications were turned off and just seeing it now. Incredible transformation. I have a tip for your next one. Look for Floetrol Flood the next time you paint. I'm not an "amazing" kind of guy either but you'll never paint without it once you use it. It's an additive that makes paint flow better so you get no brush or roller marks. Adds a little to drying time but the best stuff and cheap....you'll love it. Again, amazing job can't wait for your next garage.
I like how Matt just casually slips in that the funnel I have been waiting months for is now available. I had to pause the video immediately and log into my account because I just knew it was sold out (I have PTSD from my second order on the pf22 quick disconnect package that was sold out). Best tile color for Swisstrax. The light silver color will highlight cars in the garage very well compared to the darker grey color available in the tiles that you have used a lot. I did RaceDeck in a similar color about 19 years ago. Would use the same color if U did another floor. This giveaway garage looks great

A truly phenomenal job from start to finish! One of my most favourite moments in the whole series is the reassuring “clicking” of those Sonic MSS+ drawers 🤓
I KNOW you have OCD, or wouldn't be doing garages like this! Anyway, since I know those rolling cabinets not being level is still bothering you, I would suggest shimming up the downhill casters with washers. Then again, they would not be level if you rolled them somewhere else... Maybe some shims under the floor tiles?
Looks great. Would love to see a garage transformation for the more typical homeowner who has shovels, rakes, brooms, tarps, etc...like does this homeowner have another garage? I have a 3 car with the wife’s car, a 911, zero turn to cut the grass, dirt bikes, bikes, and all the things to take care of the outside of the house. Really like the paint and lighting suggestions in the video.
The attention to detail on this garage install is purely outstanding. Absolutely stunning. I do have a few questions though, such as; why does the left/outermost 700mm cart sit crooked as seen @18:45 ? How would you compare to Sonic tools to Snap-On? Beautiful install otherwise and love how not one single speck of this garage was left unturned, well, except for the gang box covers not being painted, but aside from that, enjoyed every minute of the video. I do believe it is the wifes turn to get her area complete or maybe she will just claim a section in the garage. so pleased to see the lift is right on top of the floor tiles. I have two 4 post lifts in my garage and I have been debating going with the same floor tiles but I didn't want to cut around the lift posts. Looking like they should be strong enough to run under my lift posts. Beautiful garage!

I still hate galvanized steel, but on the plus side, your more likely to mark up your galvanized steel lift, than your car's carbon or stainless steel frame.
Mat, I'd definitely install a ceiling mounted laser guide to assist aligning the car up on the lift. I have two in my garage and they have kept accidents from happening. I thought you did a phenomenal job on this garage and I have to take my hat off to Mike's ability and super high work ethics! What does he do as a normal job?? I hope Emanuel really enjoys and appreciates this garage!!
That would be super awesome!! Only down fall is in military so I would need a modular system all built in roller boxes to move to new places. But as the expedition leader of an off-road company that would be super awesome to get a custom modular system
To a lot of people saying they wish they had a garage... If you are renting, you are throwing your money. If you want to get to your dream home, you can start with a cheap fixer upper, fix as much as YOU can don't hire contractors unless you need it (plumbing, electric those have to be certified to be legal) but painting and other things YOU can do. make that house look amazing for what it is, then sell, use that money to get you into a better place. Rinse and repeat. Its not as hard as people think.

The flooring is by far the hardest thing to choose. What would you recommend for a hybrid shop (vehicle maintenance/repairs, some wood working, little welding, misc. Projects)?

My last house and my current house I just built I did semi gloss trim white for the walls, trim and ceiling. About washing the walls, I have had tall ceilings and spiders would make webs in corners. I used to blow the entire garage down ceiling to floor which was epoxy with an electric pressure washer. Not saturating or on high pressure. But a pass with that and it looked like a new garage. But this is super clean.

I've been resistant to the idea of a black ceiling. Maybe it's just camera magic, but it seems to open the garage up a bit more. That's contrary to what I'd think. I'm really going to have to consider this when I take on paining mine over the next several months.
To put it into perspective, when I was on the ladder pulling the tape off the lights, I kept smacking my head on the ceiling as I was perceiving it as higher.
I searched on your website for that o ring set but can't find it. You should sell that or something like it. The fact they're pre dressed, organized, and packed in bulk like that is phenomenal and a huge time saver. Please let us know if you ever sell that kit or something like it. I would buy it in a heartbeat. You currently only sell small sets of, or individual, o rings.

Yeah, it will be good. It may compress the tile under the foot over time, but it will work.

So you can buy a swiffer and pads for the swiffer at Walmart and it wipes walls down really well.

I used to blow the entire garage down ceiling to floor which was epoxy with an electric pressure washer. Not saturating or on high pressure. But a pass with that and it looked like a new garage. But this is super clean.

as a low riding honda bro I didn't appreciate that just to park everyday you have to roll onto a raised lift, other than that I'd absolutely love to come back home every night and put my car in a garage like that

Only thing I would suggest is doing a air loop around the garage. Get better pressure and put drops anywhere in the future.
Yeah, I normally do that, but this is such a simple system that I didn't find it necessary.

I've been resistant to the idea of a black ceiling. Maybe it's just camera magic, but it seems to open the garage up a bit more. That's contrary to what I'd think. I'm really going to have to consider this when I take on paining mine over the next several months.
To put it into perspective, when I was on the ladder pulling the tape off the lights, I kept smacking my head on the ceiling as I was perceiving it as higher.
I searched on your website for that o ring set but can't find it. You should sell that or something like it. The fact they're pre dressed, organized, and packed in bulk like that is phenomenal and a huge time saver. Please let us know if you ever sell that kit or something like it. I would buy it in a heartbeat. You currently only sell small sets of, or individual, o rings.
