Just did one of these the other day. As a newbie it threw a couple curves @ me but with my phone a friend and mechanical background experience in automotive repair, diagnostics I quickly had it in check. Machine was more of a hassle than anything. Couldn't find my shoulder stop adapter as it was a AKL car (02 Accord) so used the emergency push to start shim that came with my machine. One day with enough love & labor I'll be able to upgrade the machine before it let's me down. Would really like to find a inexpensive digital machine. Still learning brands and learning they're seemingly expensive $$$$.
Nice little video but I like the nitty gritty details. I'm going to have to dig up the protocol now. Usually a system would ask "What's your ID" or say "Here's a key. Do that operation on the prime number we don't talk about". The latter is for encryption. I've never heard of one that's just a calculator. EDIT: I'm going to have to spend some time on this topic... The details are very interesting. I never knew keys stored things like car mileage.
I agree with Everett. I think we need to see a video of nothing but bloopers just so we can see that PJ is a normal human being!!! Another great video. #LockBoss

I really appreciate the history and background especially, for those of us who don’t do as much automotive, very interesting and educational. I assume the issue with the fixed code system is the possibility of a replay attack which is mitigated by the encrypted/rotating token in newer keys; is that right?

Interesting, Bmw came out with transponder key middle of 1995 ID44 rolling code that no one can clone, also ford came out with 4C transponder chip in 1996. #lockboss

In the top ten keys. hay here is a thought. sell assortment starter packs of the most common auto, commercial, and residential keys. like 5 keys each of the 15 most common auto or 25 each of the 10 most used commercial keys. #lockboss and then i find a link to the auto keys in your other video. lol

I believe Mercedes had the first TX keys. Very little need to actually program these, cloning is faster and cheaper for both parties. #lockboss
