    The last clip has to be the most golden tip. The ability, mid-round, to just let what happens happen, and say “oh well” in your mind as you go to throw your next shot, is what I try to do every competitive round. Having a short memory on good and bad shots is so hard but so important to make it fun.

    One tip for practice....find a field with trees. When i'm trying to learn a new disc, I go to a local field that is wide open. But when I want to practice throws, there's a field near me that has some trees. I use that to practice and improve my aiming and see how hyzers, straight, and anhyzer throws go since I have to throw around trees.

    • @SPINNINGMYWHEELS777
      @SPINNINGMYWHEELS777 Před 8 měsíci

      that's the future right there 100% trees more hazards a deep stream where you cannot retrieve your disc , mud bog, up hills down hills, ravines... all will bring your game up all day. I can't imagine playing on a traditional golf course like how it started. Nothing against it just not what I'm used to.

    • @erakfishfishfish
      @erakfishfishfish Před 8 měsíci

      I went to a clinic run by Philo. He told us on how he taught himself to shape shots in the field. He got a bunch of tall stake flags (similar to the flags spotters place when a disc goes OB, but these were much taller). He would set them up in a field so he could shape his shots around them. It’s a bit more modular than trying to find the right tree, but then again, you won’t get the feedback of your disc thwacking against the bark.

  • @HanyseG
    @HanyseG Před 8 měsíci +7

    I will add a few psychological tips of my own:
    1. Lower your expectations after drives. When you expect to be parked within 3 meters and then you find the disk at 7m, the putt gets even harder.
    2. Putt the same way as in practice. If you only aim for 3 seconds when you practice, don't do an 8s routine during competition.
    3. Think about every shot separately. If you think "yeah I know how to throw this one, I parked it last round", it often leads to underestimation and the shot landing short.
    4. Get comfortable with your putting, it will help you hit more aces :) When you aren't afraid of longer comback putts, it allows you to throw AT the chains rather than UNDER the basket.
    5. REMEMBER TO LAUGH IT OFF! It is scientifically proven™ that even a fake laugh can "trick" your body into not reacting so negatively to adversity.
    Meaning you will throw better than if you let your anger show through. Look at Simon Lizotte, he only smiles after really great or really bad shots ;)

    • @SPINNINGMYWHEELS777
      @SPINNINGMYWHEELS777 Před 8 měsíci

      Good tips. Putting for sure has to become routine. Sometimes the visual surrounding can be distracting can take you out of the putting game - and then there's the psych of 'too hard and it rolls 50 meters down the other side of the hill'

    • @erakfishfishfish
      @erakfishfishfish Před 8 měsíci +2

      I gotta try #2. I definitely putt faster in practice. A longer routine gives me more time to think and my brain is my enemy out on the course!

    • @Latitude64
      @Latitude64  Před 8 měsíci

      Yo, Falchion is a cool mold. It is close in flight to a Saint (which has way better sales), so that's why it has not been produced for a while. The biggest difference between the two is height of the disc (Falchion: 1.6 cm / Saint: 1.9 cm). Rim depth is also lower for Falchion than Saint, so it feels a bit different in the hand. So Saint would be my best suggestion to try out, maybe Fury (even though that might be a bit more understable than Falchion). Now and then we make small production runs of older molds like Falchion only for the Latitude 64 Factory Store. So keep your eyes open. / Johannes

    I started playing just a little after Jonathan began working with Tomas and Johannes … I’ve learned SO much from all of you!!! I started playing a few months before I turned 60, and I’m 62 now. I’ve always been athletic, but I’ve also become comfortable with the likelihood that at this age I’ll never be a big bomber.
    I’m curious about just how true “slow is smooth and smooth is far” is? I’ve had MANY remarks since starting that I’m “smooth”, but I feel like I could get some more distance (typical max around 280-310). I’m currently thinking my nose angle needs to be more consistently down than it is.

      Most often I can give all I got with a destroyer and throw 360ft. But at least two times I made my River (7 speed) fly just as far, but that only have happened when I tried to make really relaxed shots. Comparing how much effort it was in these shots it felt more like an up shot with some run up.. I don't feel that I can make these shots any day or on delivery, but I'm really interested in learning more of how they could fly so far without me even trying. My friend said exactly the words "slow is smooth and smooth is far" one of the times.

    What sort of weather do you find is the worst for you to play on your local (Apart from the obvious... Rain).
    Go practice in that... You may be surprised in the things you discover, throwing shots in bad weather...
    Today I went and threw disks on an open field with a very strong wind...
    I'm a right hand backhander...
    I found.... Throwing across (strong side wind from the left) I needed to throw a neutral, nearing under stable driver...
    The wind carried the disk without flipping it.. Over stable would drop the wind side edge and the wind would hammer it into the ground.
    Into the wind... Ok I have a disk I call "Mr Broken"... I was anhyzering this at 30-40deg and it was fading out hard... My best shots into a roaring headwind wa my Rive with a low flight, Anhyzer...
    A stable disk with a little Anhyzer would also flip but recover,
    So I tried some rollers.... and like disk choice for throws... Over stable into the head wind... Under stable away,
    funniest thing I found... With a cross wind from the left.. to get a roller across the field... I found an over stable, forearm at 1 o'clock (that's leaning AWAY from the wind... )
    The disk would land correctly with this (any more into the wind and the bottom just blows out and the disk goes splat.)
    The disk will lean the top into the wind but want to sit up and blow away, the result is a fairly stable run leaning into the wind...
    Going with a crosswind from the right... I threw another forearm leaning into the wind and had it want to turn into the wind, but bounce along with little hops...
    Basically the result was there was some unintuitive things going on... but once I played with them... I found I could repeat some things in weather that usually had me throwing disks that sometime would go 90deg sideways and roll behind me...
    If you don't like say.... northerlies... on your local... that's the day you need to go throw your bac and see what each disk does in that annoying "head/tail/cross wind".
    Sometimes it even pays to throw the wrong disk (flippy into a headwind, stable in a tail wind) just to remind you why you don't... and also to show you... actually there's a neat trick... and i can repeat it... Put that in memory for that day with the weather no one likes... and surprise them with that 'miracle' shot that your muscle memory said... grab that disk and do 'this'.

    Is the Fuse comparable to the Truth by the other company? The name of that disc "truth" is perfect it really does tell the user instantly what is going on very good learning toolkit disc IMO. And it WILL go far very easily - but only if you throw it totally on point. A fair tradeoff - I hope to get one of the Lucid versions. Those prime discs warp so easily.

    Guys, I really like your videos and I think it's great what kind of help you give. But this doesn't take more than 7 speed is just stupid for me, I've been playing disc golf for 4 weeks and can throw over 100 meters stationary with 12 and 13 speed, that doesn't work for me with 7 speed. Why do you make the new players insecure? I learned to throw distance driver in 3 weeks.

      There's exceptions to everything. If you're a natural at disc golf and enjoy and benefit from distance driver, you go for it. With that said, distance driver masks bad technique. So, if you would like to get good technique and master the game of disc golf, then starting with lower speed discs is a great idea. I'm not saying you have bad technique. But as a general advice I still think it is worth to spread. / Johannes

    Tip 1 is the hardest to follow....we all want to throw farther and of course that means a distance driver (not really....but that is what happens with beginners...and I'm was in that group.)
