And also be mindful that sanatana dharma has also been subjected to an undeniable amount of assault and abuse over the past few centuries.
The temples in kerala are tantric temples,i am assuming you know this.
There is a whole system that goes into making a prathista in a temple and maintaining the presence of god or the positive energy withing the temple.There are some basic rules to each temples.Which has to be followed because the temple exists to serve a purpose,its not a "public place" like most people are saying.Its just like saying to reach the destination of choice you have to make the right decisions.Each deity of the temple has certain preferance,which are known for thousands of years and are followed as traditions.This is not a religion that that degrades women,keep that in mind first,indian women have never had to ask for voting rights,and if it wasnt for poverty in most circumstances indian girls would never be denied further education.And kerala is filled with highly educated women and they themselves understand the whole temple ideology of sabarimala,and are on the streets protesting against a SC verdict that was brought by a case filed by north indian women who know nothing about this temple.I speak from experiance when i say the only women i kno and are for the verdict in kerala have already admitted to being athists/communists.
There is a whole political and communal background to this story of sabarimala which most malayalis already know and rest of india may not have noticed.
Now coming back to the temples.We know the pooja guruvayuappan wants and the pooja kodungalooramma wants are not the same.
The temple festivals are not the same.Animal slaughter can be done in kali temples,would you do the same in a ganapathi temple?
Breaking coconuts is a very common sight in ganapathi temples,but not in any naga temples.In naga temples we offer turmeric powder,but not in any other temples.We have theyyam in the temple festivals in kannur but not in rest of kerala.This is a very diverse religion even within kerala itself.So before you jump at the sabarimala issue you have to keep this in mind.Are you from kerala?
