    Brilliant design, and really effective demo of each of the metals rebound properties. Nice one. 👍

      Glad to hear you enjoyed it! We wanted to keep it simple but really show the properties of the various materials in a fair way.

    The best design out there by far! How does the ground clearance compare to factory? I know the approach angle was improved. How about the lowest point? Anyway, very impressive engineering!

    • @KAONaust
      @KAONaust  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Thanks for the kind words, we're big fans of your approach, so the team considers it very high praise!
      As for your questions - It's 4mm more clearance than Factory at the lowest point (it's hard up against the cross members so it's as high as it'll go). But the front guard is 35mm more clearance at some points, thanks to it's approach angle of 19°, vs factory 42°. Unfortunately CZcams not allowing us to attach images means we can't show these overlaid, which paints a better picture! The Sump Guard hangs down 25mm at the Diff Cradle.

    18:52 Kudos Kaon! Compatability with the OEM front plastic radiator splash guard is great, and something _no_ US aftermarket manufacturer has taken into consideration. I wonder if this will fit a GX 460 (even if just the fron engine and oil pan pieces) ... 🤔

      @KAONaust  Před 3 měsíci +1

      We think little details like that really make all the difference, glad to hear that it resonated with you too. We believe these will work with the GX 460 - our past UVP always has.

    This looks amazing @kaon ! I see on the website there's a listing for 150 Prado with KDSS swaybar and diff drop available.
    Will this work if I have also spaced the front KDSS swaybar with the Whiteline swaybar spacer kit?
    I've lifted my Prado with a 2 inch kit and the spacer drops the swaybar about 1inch to take some strain off the KDSS and remove the KDSS lean. I've also fitted their rear spacer.
    When asking this to customer support about your previous 150 KDSS bash plate the reply was that that design wouldn't with the swaybar spacer.
    I'm hoping this new X700 will work.

    Excellent design. Especially compared to my Drivetech bashplates from Russia. Drivetech limitations
    1. Lowers ground clearance by approx 4cm!!
    2. Some exposed bolt heads that makes them susceptable to scrapes
    3. Oil filter and oil sump cover plates are mounted using small torx heads that strip easily
    4. Less airflow holes
    Question about kaon guards
    1. Does the removal of the two toyota tubes brackets affect crash safety?
    2. Reg the drop test. Can u measure the initial deflection of the material upon impact? Wouldnt this be a more useful test as it indicates if the engine vitals are impacted. Testing plastic deformation only shows its return to original position. E.g. A rubber band would win the test

      @KAONaust  Před 3 měsíci +2

      Excellent questions, here are our answers:
      1. We are unable to make any claims in regards to whether this will affect crash safety. Our opinion is that the tube brackets are part of the skid plates, to prevent the thin factory plates from bending too far. These brackets that the factory plates mount to are different across Prado 150, 150 KDSS, FJ and are not present on Prado 120. Any aftermarket bash plate that is installed will add a lot more stiffness and strength compared with factory bash plates, and the same question could be asked about crash safety regardless of whether the tube brackets are present or not when bash plates are fitted. Our design, which removes the tube brackets, would be closer to the factory configuration compared with having the bash plates as well as the tube brackets.
      2. Our test was to allow customers to compare materials. Testing performance of the bash plate itself would depend on other variables such as design, folds, and vehicle mounting points. We can influence initial deflection upon impact with things such as bracing, clearances to components and intentional contact points which transfer loads without causing bending. As a general guide, we design our guards with increased clearance to critical components such as sumps and radiators.
      Hope that helps!

    I have a 2019 Prado with the factory commercial’ bar and KAON recovery tow points. Will these fit ok?
    Cheers

    • @KAONaust
      @KAONaust  Před 3 měsíci

      We haven't been able to test fitment with the Factory Commercial bar, so I'm afraid we cannot confirm this for sure. However if our Recovery Points fit, the team are reasonably sure that the X700 UVP will too.
