The 8-Bit Big Band "One Minute Bytes" #19 - "Menu 1" Theme from Wimbledon Championship Tennis for the Sega Genesis. A somewhat lesser known entry for the Sega Genesis, I knew when I heard this under appreciated gem of a sound track I had to pay tribute to it none the less!

Never even heard of this game but oh lord does this theme absolutely SLAP. Like WOW.
I love how you guys cover the usual VGM standards but also obscure tracks like this one. Bravo!
The bass SCREAMS Sega Genesis! Very nice!
HOLY SHIT THIS GIVES 80s-90s SPORTS SO HARD. IM BACK WATCHING COACHES CORNER ON HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA!
This is like the intro to the sports programs on TV with say NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and even including News broadcast intros on Channels 7, 4, 11, etc.
Yoooooo ive been waiting for someone to recognize this fire beat since hearing it in a gaming historian video lmao yall killed it great job ❤
That is literally the video that I first heard it from as well haha
Which video was it in?
@@adam850 The Sonic's Secret Genesis Games installment.
I thought I was the only one who loved this menu theme. This is awesome talk about nostalgia. This game is still in my collection. Let's go band❤😏🙏🔥🔥
That sounds like a daytime TV magazine theme from the 1980s.
This goes hard like a Cialis overdose! 🔥🔥🔥
Making covers from games everyone played gives you subscribers.
Making covers from games only a few people played gives you fans.
To both the credit of you and the original composer, this track has the same vibe of the music the networks would use during their coverage of the Tennis Grand Slams. Fantastic work!
WOW! It's legitimately a Mario Kart 8 track ost song! Like I would LOVE to race around a nighttime course with this playing!
I'm hearing some sort of digitized bells in the melody's mix and maaaaan, it goes a long way to bring out that nostalgia factor of the Genesis sound font!
Yeah I definitely wanted to bring in some of those Yamaha sound chip elements, they're just so iconic!!
Holy crap this one goes hard, good to see you guys posting more stuff again!!!
That bass line goes hard!
Strings holding down the quarter notes 💪
Like all your other One Minute Bytes, it is so good, it has left me wishing for us to hear a fuller, longer version of the song.
SEGA MEGA DRIVE/GENESIS yes please! So much good music on that console!
I do feel we should go from "One Minute Bytes" to "Two Minute Bytes" if you ask me.
I've only just discovered this channel and I *_already_* like it lol. For such a niche Genesis game, you guys did an awesome cover of the main menu music.
One of my childhood games. Thank you so much ❤
Maybe too niche, but for a potential future One Minute Bytes I'd love it if you did International Superstar Soccer 64's Menu theme. It's a very groovy bossa nova tune
I really can't get enough of this. Would you consider creating and recording a rendition that would add about another 2 and a half minutes of music to this? Great work as always.
tfw you play your first tennis game on sega cd.
Anyone else feel like they just won a brand-new Datsun?
This is perfect.
This should be the defeinitive theme for real Tennis Championship.
Yo, this fricking slaps!
I suggest “Circus Circus “ from the obscure NES game “Pinball Quest” - jazzed up, of course! 🎉
Am I crazy, or are the strings dragging a liiiiittle tiny bit? Something is happening I can't put my finger on. Anyway: BANGER!
They did not need to go this hard on a tennis game.
This a 1980s TV game show theme if I ever heard one. If you know it, it sounds like the 80s version of Card Sharks a little.
I never even knew this game existed until today. But you guys did a fantastic arrangement of a FANTASTIC song.
But now that you guys are doing weird, obscure, and yet AWESOME VGM like this. Let me take this opportunity to suggest the works of Tim Follin. (Look him up, he's pretty interesting.)
But if I had to suggest any specific songs from him, they would probably have to be: Level 1, from Silver Surfer (NES), and Title Screen, from Solstice (NES). But honestly, you guys could pull off just about any of his songs fantastically, so if you end up being more inspired by some of his other works, go for that instead.
Even though he didn't have the greatest luck when it came to the actual games he was composing for, Tim Follin, in my opinion, is a name that deserves to be in The Great Video Game Song Book!
Oh yeah no I am well aware of Tim Follin's insane work on those games!! The Pictionary NES sound track?? Total banger. I've been meaning to do some stuff from these titles!
GREAT! I can't wait to see what you guys come up with!
Long live video game music!
Such an amazing track that y'all covered with extreme flare!
Wanted to hear more of this composer's stuff, so went digging. Couldn't find a reliable source, but google seems to think Crush-X is an early pseudonym for Jun Senoue of Sonic fame (Crush 40 being his later band). And he did start composing for Sega games around '93 when this came out. Anybody know if this is actually the case?
Thats interesting! I was wondering if the word "Crush" in the credits was related to Crush 40, would make sense!
Sounds like something Edd Kalehoff would have written and/or arranged.
Can you guys do the Stunt Race FX theme? Or maybe NHL 98 (i think it's that one, maybe 95 or something)
Sax player is also a great drummer, lol
Why are they wearing masks? Do they need teddy bears too?
Could be an older recording from when mask mandates were still in force.
yeah these videos were recorded a very long time ago now, it just takes us a while to put out content to a lot of our recent videos were recorded well over a year ago, times have changed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
What would a teddy bear do?
@@matthewjenkins7258 He's calling mask wearers children that need comforting, because he's a big manly man that doesn't conform to the deep state's chip embedding masterplan or something
