- The incredible Patrick Bartley is featured in this modal hard bop Jazz inspired arrangement from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Patrick is one of the most incredible alto sax players I've had the pleasure of meeting, also a champion of video game music, he also sometimes does a rendition of this classic video game music tune in his live performances which inspired me to create this version to showcase his ability!
The keen Jazz fan might be able to pick out some post bop inspired references in the arrangement such as: So What, Impressions, Joshua, and Yes and No. Hope you enjoy!

fantastic, new favorite from you guys
You got some good taste in music my man
I am excited to see this in ymfahs next video
Same here man, I love that This works so well with Big band jazz. Big band jazz just makes everything better
No way, I didn't know the guy from the Dark Souls PvP montages liked 8-bit Big Band. How are you doing Jelly Elite?
Iron, love your content man. So happy to see you channel explode after all these years.
Whenever I see something along the lines of “ft. Patrick Bartley” I know whatever it is I’m about to listen to is going to be straight heat 🔥
💯8BBB, J-Music Ensemble and The Consouls
Special props to Jared on drums. Every time I thought it couldn't get crazier, it did. That duo with the sax was insane!
This is sooo 🔥🔥🔥
it’s so good
Woooo that drums/sax solo break at 2:47 is so good!! Incredible modal textures here!
Pat going HARD there
went from being blown away by this arrangement at magfest to this normal release and finding out that y'all featured PATRICK BARTLEY ON THIS ONE???? OH NAHHHHHHHH BRO, I'M SO READY FOR THIS NEXT ALBUM
Absolutely phenomenal. The rock-solid bop on this one coupled with Patrick's freeform flight is truly the song for my winter. Hell, almost getting a little Herrmann vibe from the whole production.
My favourite on the band has always been the drummer. Every time Jared is on screen hes just Vibin more than anyone ever.
so late to the party, but glad I saw it now! amazing performance by the whole band, can't get enough of this!!
Man, the music is phenomenal, but can we talk about the video production quality? It’s straight up amazing!
Such a good arrangement! Pat sounds killer as always :^)
shoutout to Reginald Chapman sounding incredible on the bass bone too
As a sax player, I always love seeing the sax features. Love the song, always happy when a new 8-bit song comes out
Been a *VERY* long time seen you guys play, and Happy new Years!!!!
The motifs from Impressions is the icing on top
Man this really left an impression on me
This guy
YESSS 8-Bit-BB + Pat is such a great combo... both are recently in my most listened artists 🔥
I'd add The Consouls to that list :)
This is so beautiful. And now it's raining
Pat Bartley is an absolute beast. awesome arrangement
At 1:42 it suddenly turns into Kind of Blue - absolutely brilliant writing :D
That's impressions
I heard it!
so what?
@@anders2484it's both
Wow, instant classic. Going straight into my Good Vibes playlist!
This just goes in so hard. Way to get back into it after MagFest!!!
This combination reigns supreme! (or perhaps "rains" supreme).
Very smooth arrangement, and incredible soloing Pat!
hahahah nice
I'd like to thank all band members for their "precipitation" in this performance
@@notmyrealname6168 These rain puns are drowning me.
Oh that's why the entire country is flooding, y'all been recording.
I went to the concert in DC back in march. When they played this, I nearly lost my entire mind. I've been waiting so long for this. Thank you for making my life better.
This is so good! I got to hear this live at your Miami show, and it's already one of my favorites of your arrangements! Can't wait for the rest of album 4!
Wow, this is amazing! I've been wanting to hear a bop version of this song for so long, no joke, and you guys delivered something way better than anyone could've imagined. So good!
I clicked on this video without reading the title, but once I heard that sax I knew who you guys brought on! Amazing colab, and amazing music
All Pat's collabs are great. The Consouls just released their World 6 album on Spotify and Pat is on the Deltarune track 🔥 The Consouls Best of Radio 2021 is also banger!
OMG This is killin, great job Charlie awesome arrangement!!!! and of course pat ate that like a KING.
I can definitely hear Shorter's Yes or No at 0:27. At 1:55 Kinetic? simply amazing, no wonder why Steven is playing the piano🤩, wow❤ the sax soli is super catchy and i loved that call and response between the sax section during soli. Lovely work❤
I love that you also caught the completely accidental Feifke quote, like I didn't even realize I did that until he was like "..umm is this a me quote?" on the session hahaha me and him go way back so we've both consciously and subconsiously influenced each other a lot over the years!
8BBB + Patrick is just as good as I'd hoped it would be.
0:38 just how Pat articulates that note made me listen to this like a hundred times already
So What over Song of Storms isn't something I knew I needed. Phenomenal idea.
This arrangement is so good. Kudos to everyone involved.
Never before have I wondered what The Seatbelts would sound like performing Nintendo music, but dang I got it right here. 10/10.
💯 Kind of like The Consouls are Yuji Ohno playing VGM ;)
My 2 favorite vgm jazz cover channels have come together to remix one of the best Legend of Zelda songs. I'm absolutely loving this!!
I'd love to add a third - The Consouls. They could collab with 8BBB the way Snarky Puppy played with Metropole Orkest!
How the HELL did I miss this upload for 6 months??? HOW
Why am I tearing up from this?!
I didn't know this was missing from my life, but I'm glad it's here
They took this solemn sounding song that made you feel like you were standing alone in a torrential downpour at peace with yourself and turned into this fun flighty number where you are dancing in that downpour feeling on top of the world!
Song of Storms was already such a memorable tune, but a hard bop jazz version added an amazing new take.
Also decent as funk by The Consouls (jam sessions from 2020 and 2014)
literally randomly decided to search song of storms only to find this had been posted in the last hour!
Brilliant guys! Got to be one of my favourite video game standards of all time!
Truly impeccable timing on your part haha welcome!
"standard" hahaha, it fits.
Damn!! That was beautiful. I came across you guys by total accident on CZcams. Totally glad I did. My late Papa liked playing video games with us when we were kids. Particularly Super Mario on the NES. He had fun even though he wasn’t very good. But man did he love jazz. I’m totally sure he would’ve loved this.
May I also recommend The Consouls as the perfect combo of VGM and jazz? They do banger versions of everything and covered this tune in 2020 and 2014.
Thanks. I’ll check’em out.
This sounds like a storm I want to get caught in! Absolutely amazing!
Also the 2014 and 2020 versions by The Consouls
love this arrangement of song of strom best
3:12 was it a nokia music reference??? GENIUS kkkkkk Great arrangement, great solo, great video. Bravi!
Woooo!!! 🔥🔥🔥 Pat is an absolute giant
That's one of the smoothest sax tones I've heard =O .
That's Pat. His performances with Emmet Cohen are also phenomenal and of course all the J-Music Ensemble repertoire plus guesting for The Consouls
Special shout out to your backing Gorons.
Those folks know how to rock.
Oh hey Pat playing Song of Storms reminds me of his solo in a band he was in forever ago called the Jon Hatamiya Big Band, in the song Pep Pep
Thanks for the pointer - what a great composition that is! The keys part in the beginning is a little remisicent of Crystal Waters 'Gypsy Woman' (but I suppose lots of tunes have that 90s-esque rhythm and progression. I also love Pat's trio version of this tune from 2017 (Coltrane-like).
I WAS LOOKING FOR THIS COMMENT! He also quoted the Song of Storms melody with the exact same phrasing as this arrangement so there's that connection.
The fact every single one of your videos arnt at 500k is an atrocity, y'all deserve the moon ⚡️🌟💚💚
This is so amazing that it genuinely makes me emotional
LOVE PAT! His sound is just so juicy! This arrangement is amazing and the performance is so tight with the hits. it is making me so hyped for the next album!
What would also be juicy is a 'H.A.N.A. Quartet' and Consouls collab with 8BBB!
Heard the preview to this at the last concert they played in Miami, fantastic to say the least, and they once again have outdone themselves
The kind of stuff to make Windmill Watchers Furious. AMAZIN
It's like every sax player you bring in to play is there to give a master class in performance. I learn something new every time. Stellar job!
My favorite musicians collabing with my other favorite musicians?
This is a dream come true!
Excellent Performance as always!!
Would love to hear a collab with my favourites The Consouls too
i hear Impressions. that is some sick arrangement. So tight aaaaah going cray RN
That solo was so fucking sick
Any Pat collab is great news
💯 His collab with The Consouls was also amazing
Why is this gem not on Spotify yet?! Simply stunning! I am new to the game tune jazz canon but this is Hope Incarnated for jazz. Phenomenal arrangement, execution and solo.
I caught covid and missed you guys play at Magfest... broke my heart. Thanks for putting this out, made me feel like i was there, in a way. :)
Hopefully I'll get access to that set's footage too so you can still check it out!
3:39, bari and tenor had me audibly say “GOD DAMN”
Glad to see new videos from you guys! Sounds amazing as always!
Awesome arrangement as usual!!
It's storming where I am, so this is exactly what I needed
was hoping this would be the case for some people haha
Aw hell yeah, been waiting for this one for a while 😊
You guys are incredible. Great job as always!
You guys NEED to do a “Great Fairy Fountain” video. PLEEEEEEEEASE MEAKE IT HAPPEN. It would be amazing!!! Incredible video. Always dropping bangers!!
This arrangement is crazy good; you all did a wonderful job here! Can't wait for the rest of the album!
Fantastic as always. I really enjoy these little animations too!
I cried. That was amazing. :)
Beautiful. Love it already
There's something just so special about just drum and sax going off. Actually I feel the same way when it's just the piano and the drums going off but yeah... so lovely and on fire!
AMAZING!!! I love this so much!!
I just can’t get enough of you guys ❤❤❤ please keep up the good work
Been waiting a long time for this collab, and it was well worth it! Patrick Bartley is a god and y'all knocked the arrangement out of the park, like always!
Fantastic! It was amazing to see this live last month, and it's so cool to finally hear the studio recording.
How did I not see this sooner?? I love Pat's version of Song of Storms from years ago and this big band take on it is just as enjoyable!
Masterful. Every song you guys make inspires me
The musicality demonstrated here is on that expert level, always so refreshing to see. Such a good job with the arrangement and to every artist on their instrument, inspiring!
This was the track I wanted the most from you. You delivered, it's awesome!
This is amazing! 🥺
I heard this at your miami show and i've been anticipating the video for this and not only is it hear you got Patrick Bartley to do the solo this is the best day of my life. Album 4 gonna be insane
Awesome arrangement! Pat is a monster!
Waw, you did it. The arrangement that rules them all. It's amazing, thank you!
YOU'RE BACK!!!!!! This was so GOOD!! So cool to see Bartley here. I love this band's sound and I love this band -- it brings me so much happiness whenever you upload more! Looking forward to seeing yet more jazz wonders from you all soon!!
Just noticed the faint video overlay of rain. Cool trick!
Absolute banger, i wasn't ready.
Ho
Leeeeeeee
Crap dude
This one got me speechless, what a way to start the new album era.. I just loved this song guys, you delivered
absolutely delighted to hear this (and the rest of the set) live at MAGFest, y'all are phenomenal!! can't wait for the next album, and the next chance to see you live -- hope you stop by Atlanta soon!
Nice, glad to see you all back!
Wow, you guys really put a lot of *Passion* into this arrangement!
Amazing! Instant Classic all the way Patrick!
I must say, listening to yall is always bananas, but you guys really knocked it out of the park with this one.
First song of the new album!!
ALBUM 4 WAVE INCOMING
It just kept getting better. Hell yeah.
My favourite melody from the franchise, great job!
THis is great, this is too great. This is the best kind of cover, it's entirely the same song but does it in such a unique way that it's it's own thing as well.
I’ve waited soooo long for this
that "yes or no" quote :O
i mean "yes and no" xD
yes yes its finaly here. i have been waiting for this so long
Incredible! You are insanely talented, you & everyone else in that room. The gorons playing🎺🎺🎺 at the bottom made me geek
